Of course I wasnt serious, but Cronin did keep using him as an extra attacker.

Someone that is a SSH, please ask why this is happening at the next whatever it’s called where you can ask questions.

    There are three excuses here:

    1. We are trying to actually lose.

    2. This is some form of punishing the team.

    3. Cronin is a complete fool (sask will jump all over this).

Ike I appreciate the info!   Full disclosure, I was aware of this and i posted what I said because I was feeling cheeky and wanted to poke the bear of my buddy sask!

See he kept mentioning Stamkos wasn’t frustrated with the GM or the Organization as a whole, but the “process”.   And now Hedman is getting the exact opposite treatment than what Stamkos got.
Whether that’s a good captain fighting for his good buddy by being so vocal the year prior ?   Whether there was some actual animosity between the 2 sides that has now subsided, or whether the organization was like wait we can’t not get these two back for another run for 3-4 years our fan base will kill us !    I don’t know truly know.

And here I was feeling all smart and stuff.

Hahahahaah duders you are funny.   I agree he is most likely re-signing with Tampa, and if he doesn’t we have a shot to get him.   And I think he fits perfectly for a lot of needs we need to address.    I also think, Stamkos may not be as happy as you believe.   And I truly believe if he accepted $4 mil instead of $10 mil that the players union should step in.   Real quickly, that’s giving up $6 mil a year, which if it was for 2 years is …. $12 mil.

i don’t know where you learned math friend, but 9.75 multiplied by 7 = $68.25 mil.   10.75 (absolutely max) multipled x 7 = $75.25 mil.   So absolute maximum he gave up was $7 mil over 7 years and probable closer to gave up 5.25 mil of 7 years.

and really I’m just kinda upset with you, because I honestly though you were better than  succumbing to straight up lying.    Edmonton never offered Getzlaf $7 mil, you straight up lied.   Otherwise I’d love to see the proof and I will apologize for not believing you.

To be fair to Sask, Johnny Hockey also left a year on the table as well. He could have gotten an 8th year from Calgary. Not saying the math does or doesn’t add up, but is close to ‘north of’ 80 mil.

I’m selfish, matters more having a draft pick five spots higher!

I agree. I’d rather have a better pick that helps us beat LA ourselves, than to cheer for someone to beat them for us.

Tough to be wrong when you make up fairy tales to support whatever agenda you want to put out there.  😂

Henry and Susan hate people who eat hot dogs.   Why are the prices of hot dogs so gosh darn high ?   Obviously they hate Glizzy Guzzlers.   Why don’t they have bacon wrapped hot dogs ?   Obviously they hate people who enjoy street dogs.   Why are cops at the games ?   Obviously to try and make the street vendors afraid and leave before serving delicious street dogs !!!!   Boycott Ducks Hockey until Henry and Susan apologize for hating Hot Dog Eaters!

Best post I’ve seen in a long time.

    Sons of B itches lol

    Glizzy Guzzlers, Classic.

But hedman has 1 more year, I thought the organization only did extension talks after your last season.   Weird?

You can negotiate a new deal 1 year from the end of the contract. You hear announcers often say something like ‘his new deal starting next season’.

If you can recall Sask’s very pleasant bright smiled posts, the Stamkos theories are swirling from his comments about not working something out on a new contract at the end of last season when they got knocked out of the playoffs. He wanted something in place before the next season started, thus the “Frustrated” claims. He was talking about his next contract, starting at the conclusion of this year.

    Hope that helps.

I really find it difficult to watch this sport.  The "officiating" is God Awful.  The fact that these MORONS can completely impact the outcome of a game, makes this sport a JOKE.

Just saw the Kings get totally screwed by a PATHETIC call.  Then the Kings goalie lost his helmet, and it took them another 5-10 seconds to blow the play dead.

Ya the red clearly saw his helmet off. He waited to blow the whistle until AFTER the shot. He seriously could have died if he took another 90+ mph puck to the head. Terrible. The reffing association, whatever it’s called, needs to pull that ref from playoff games.

    Thanks for the breakdown!

I don’t think there’s any chance Eiserman is our pick. Helenius is much more of a Verbeek guy on top of being right handed. I don’t think he’d be a center either. Hes my dark horse forward but it’s still a bit of a reach.

Connolly seems like his stock is rising and we’ll miss out on him unless we traded up but I think he’s going to high for us to get with a 2nd first.

    Is Eiserman a RH?

What I want to see, if we don’t win the lotto, Levshonov solves our RH D issue and could potentially step into the lineup right away. Then package whatever we need to, to move up to get Helenius, which also solves the RH issue. Where is Helenius currently ranked? Top 10 I think. Could we put a package together to make that happen? Edm 1st our 2nd one of the other second and a Warren or Sidorov to get in the top ten. It may be a hefty price, but if Beeker is serious about making a jump sooner than later he needs to start making some gutsy moves. It may be time to start mortgaging parts of the future to get into the ‘now’ mode.

Comparing Killorn to Stamkos is ridiculous. A guy with career earnings of $30 mil vs $116.675 mil is comparing apples to oranges. Of course Killorn is going for the money, he hasn't earned all yet. Stamkos has earned $80mil more then Killorn in his career. He doesn't need the money. If he retires before 40, I bet there is a front office job in Tampa with his name on it. Will he work at Tim Hortons? No, he has earned $116 mil, he doesn't need to work ever. If you want to compare apples to apples, Ryan Getzlaf is a good example. A guy that also made $100mil over his playing career. Came off his big $66mil contract, was a UFA, had options to make a lot more money (Oilers were willing to offer him close to $7mil), play for more competitive teams, etc, but decided to sign for less, stay in Anaheim and retire a Duck as that is where he spent his entire career, started his family, etc. Sounds just like the Stamkos situation that he has now. I can guarantee he is not leaving Tampa and especially to chase money on a rebuilding team. If you think he is coming here for a big pay day because he needs it, then that is the ridiculous statement.

Killorn also has very little money made in endorsement deals, if any. Stamkos has made a ton off of endorsements as well. Stamkos has endorsements with Nike, Tissot Watches, EA Sports, Sport Check, Coca-cola, etc. Killorn has none.

A lot of what you have said here and other places definitely holds water and is the most likely scenario of happening. BUT until we hear or see something, there is a chance Tampa is out of the question. Then where is the next question, whether that is Anaheim or any other spot. I think most of are saying that, while it’s a long shot, at the right deal Stamkos can address a lot of issues and needs we have, even if in a lesser role and lesser production. His leadership being his #1 asset (for us anyway).

One thing I don’t know if I fully agree with is the rebuilding part. Where Anaheim SHOULD be coming out of it now or in a year or two, Tampa IS heading in the wrong direction. They have taken a step back each year. Winning does that to a team. A number of their winners have left, more of them are aging, and because they were at the top of the league for a good while, their pipeline may be watered down (to be fair I didn’t look at their rank). So, by staying in Tampa, he MIGHT find himself on a worse team than Anaheim after another season or two.

However him staying and taking a big discount to bring in say Tafolli or March. That may buy Tampa another year or two in their window ala Anaheim under Bobbo. So that part I do fully agree with.  It’s just a question whether does Tampa see it that way. Tear it all down or buy a couple more years, which will lead to a harder rebuild later ala Anaheim.

We seriously need a new saying besides dehydrated donkey dung. That's getting old fast seeing as how everything seems to be DDD.

It is an auto fill the boards do. If you type the S word, it automatically changes. That’s why you see it often.

    Dehydrated Donkey Dung

I typed the actual word and it changed. Try it for yourself.

Exactly, you can ask him. But if he is comfortable in the situation he is in, doesn't want to move his family, doesn't care about a playoff run, then your only option is one of four teams. He could be a player where his opinion is I am going nowhere unless it is one of those 4 only.

Is the contract to a specific 4 teams he named when he signed the deal, or 4 teams he can name if asked to do so?

Explain to me: on the roster report for tonight game, Edmonton has 7 scratches listed, and LA has just two.

Is the difference just because the Kings are playing at home and Oils away?  Not sure I understand what the roster limits and reported scratches calculus is…

I think roster limits go away in playoffs?

We don't need Stamkos alltogether, he might break a finger like Grumpy when he came over and miss half the season, he won't mind he already got paid. And Stamkos certainly has a long injury history and the refs do us no favors, just ask Terry.

The two things he can bring - an elite shot and proven leadership - well we can find a shot that is close enough in danger and accuracy and it's best to have a leader grow with the team like MacKinnon, name someone younger like Z or Leo, once the short 3-year deal is done Stamkos' leadership will be gone anyway just as we begin to compete seriously.

So, would you say that Leo and Z have had great mentors recently to start leading on their own right now? Was Silfverberg and Killorn teaching anyone enough to be the captain? I’m not so confident. Getz had Scotty, Koivu, Teemu, Pronger among other veterans to learn from. Perhaps having Stamkos for 2-3 years can be Z or Leo’s Koivu.

I watched the US U18 game today. Mainly to see how Eiserman looked, and to see if anyone else stood out. One player that stood out to me is Trevor Connelly. He’s got top 10 skill, but there’s some character concerns around him. Nothing as bad as some of the other players in previous drafts you may have heard about, but the Athletic did a whole story about him. He’s ranked in the middle of the 1st round, but he could be a great pick if he drops to wherever Edmonton’s pick ends up being. He’s from Tustin.

As for Eiserman, he was a bit better than I was expecting. I was expecting him to have a great shot with not much else, but he had some good moments 5 on 5. He made a couple of nice plays, and wasn’t lazy on defense either. There were times when he tried to do too much in the offensive zone, was selfish with the puck, and then took a bad shot when other players were open in better spots. That’s been a critique I’ve read a lot about him. He scored two goals on the PP showing off his shot.

Do you think Eiserman has got NHL potential early on? Like could he make the club right out of the gate?

It's not math, it's luck. A Pittsburgh that finished just barely out of the playoffs can move up 10 spots with a 2% chance if it hits. Lottery's gonna lottery.

By luck you mean league rigging lol I know I know it’s not rigged, but it sure as S seems like it sometimes.

Lucknis luck but statistics are statistics. It may be luck, but statistically speaking some have ‘more’ luck than others.

I just want to be in the right side of this luck for once.

*side note, was it just me or was the site down for like 15hrs?

mark it on your calendars, ya’ll

Blah. Always a larger percentage to move down that up. That’s why we don’t. I know it’s ‘math’ but that combined with basically the same percentage of getting 1st or 2nd just seems weird. Bad memories of yesteryears. We are DUE for a little luck when it comes to this stuff.

I think there is zero risk for those seasons if they are paying Marchie $6.5.  I laid it out earlier in some thread - this one? - but they really are not gonna have many issues with the cap the next 4 seasons.

Plus being in their last year, they could/should easily be moved at any point to a contender….assuming we aren’t. Just point that out.
