You had to know the NHL wasn’t going allow itself to “waste” Bedard in Anaheim….low volume, non traditional hockey media market. I think it was rigged from the start. Never know though…. it might be a blessing…..some very good players in the top four or five picks….

I welcome the change, but Eakins never really had a chance to be sucessful with such a thin roster. I think he’s a great developmental coach, and would do well in an AHL job.

Sandis Ozolinsh had a similar problem during his playing days. Great skills. Trouble with the liquid hooch. Bobby Ryan's performance downslide started with the Ducks under Randy Carlyle. Carlyle ended up getting canned not that long after.

No issues with GMPV's list. A couple of these could be re-signed for less $$. Not sorry to see Steel move on. He was unsuitable in a bottom six role, and wasn't going to crack the top six. Emerson Etem 2.0.... Same with Larsson.... I wouldn't mind seeing Milano signed as a UFA.

One notable thing is Verbeek is drafting larger players. They just need to get stronger and fill out.

Hard to believe I was pulling for the Kings so VGK didn't get in. Turk Gallant has to be laughing out loud profusely.

Lehner has some issues that VGK wont discuss publically. Taking a maintenance day on Game 80 or 81 makes no sense. He has some history of personal issues.

You need to keep numbers for the players to wear, otherwise your players look like Montreal with football linesmen numbers. I’d like to see JSG35’s number retired. 10 and 15 should go up in due time. The others you mentioned were good players, but not worthy of having their jerseys retired. A jersey retirement needs to be the rare exception. IMO, I’m not sure Niedermayer’s should have gone up in the rafters, but it’s a stronger case than the Ray Borque’s 77 going up in Colorado after one season. I met Guy Hebert a couple of times back when he was playing. Really nice guy.

Good post...I just floated the question since @DucksFan_08 posted we are getting a new coach as if he had been terminated. I think his contract expires and he doesn't get an extension. The guy is not NHLHC material AFAIC.

It was a learning experience for Getzlaf. He lost his temper a few times with the officials and he got spanked. Remember one time Brian Pochmara upped the penalty for young Captain Getzlaf's arguing with the game on the line, and it put the Ducks shorthanded....Ducks lost the game as a direct result of the upped penalty. You can certainly be a quieter guy and lead. Niedermayer being the good example.

Fowler is he logical choice. Under contract for awhile. He's an honest player. Henrique is another possibility. Also, I don't have an issue with no captain be installed. Of the young players, Terry or Lundestrom could be future possibilities.

Spot on. Enforcers will be forced to enforce. Considering the lack of league response on the Beagle - Terry incident, I fear someone may decide to give Zegras the same treatment. Might even be a smaller player. Some of the smaller guys are capable of the rough stuff. It's not his skill that drives players nuts, it's his antics.
