  1. Yup. And add that they are an NHL darling and you have recipe for rigged antics
  2. Just a coincidence that Hawks needed a superstar after losing both Toews and Kane. It’s all part of the plan. If another non-NHL darling won then it wouldn’t be as bad but because it’s the Hawks I knew that shenanigans were going to happen.
  3. Of course! I knew it. Anyone up against Blackhawks was going to get snubbed. F’in BS!!! it’s rigged!!!
  4. next broadcaster will be some AI LOL
  5. Here’s a good video on him https://www.redbull.com/us-en/episodes/matt-mcilvane-breaking-the-ice-s01-e04
  6. I haven’t been in this thread practically all year and reading all these comments about people wondering why Eakins is still on surprised me a bit. My thought from the start of the year was the that the goal was not to win but to in fact lose. It’s no coincidence that this years draft is so crazy deep and includes a generational player. As the season went on the Ducks stayed at the bottom and I could see how this has all played into GMs plan. If the Ducks do manage to grab one of those super hot draft players everyone here is going to forget what they said and thank Eakins as he was critical to keeping the Ducks low in the ranks. We will then see next year what is done with the coaching situation as we should have all our draft players GM wants and can now begin to deal and there will be a better team to build around giving more reason for a new coach.
  7. Plot twist indeed. One where the viewer is left terrified.
  8. The GM has always had the freedom to pretty much what they want under the Samulelis. The thought that the owners hand tied Bobs hands in dictating budget and /or player move constraints I think was always just Bob being Bob and what Bob proponents said in his defense. Verbeek strikes me as a Brian Burke 2.0. I like it.
  9. I don’t think it was the Samuelis holding back or limiting Bob. I just think that was just how Bob operated. I always maintained that he struck me as a good asst GM who is good at drafting but the guy for long term team planning or conducting trade negotiations with other GMs. In my amateur opinion, Most of the time Bob got subpar deals because he was limited in his ability to build relationships and negotiate with other GMs so he got stuck with what he could do. He had no sense of long term (vision) planning as he changed the course of the team make-up a few times back and forth from skating team to a big hard hitting team. He also was usually late with reaction time in making changes only to get some over the hill player most of the time. Best player he got was Ryan K in a trade though but graded with all his other trades and he’s just below average
  10. Seems like a good hockey trade. The 50% retention seems justified as the Ducks get a 2nd rd pick and also a much younger dman who has size, some experience playing big games on gold metal team and is rated pretty good for a young player. GM also considered personal fit too as he played with Z perhaps. Anyhow, win win trade here for both teams. AVS are looking for NOW so they get maturity and experience and someone who can hit and play hard. Manson may potentially be the small piece to push them over the top. Kudos to the new GM in actually making a good trade that involved a bit of negotiation and moving pieces to improve the team. Bob either would have never traded Manson or would get back an over the hill past his prime star player (or spare parts) thinking in the short term and also thinking that the team is close to playoff contention. Never thought he was a good consistent trader. Seemed like he got fleeced more often than not.
