It has always seemed to me that Eakins is very good off the ice and in the locker room...but is just terrible in-game, behind the bench on the ice...hence why we are terrible away, he can't adapt which is crucial in away games especially. Maybe there's a way we can keep Eakins in the front office or in some level of development or in the mental health side of things with the players...but get someone else behind the bench and leading the charge in-game.

We might be able to trade him for a fair to good D Man !!

By this logic, with our goaltending tandem of John Gibson and Ryan Miller, the Ducks are also the 5th worst team in the NHL, so I assume next you'll be telling us the Ducks should trade Gibson to help with the rebuild because Lukas Dostal is looking great in the Czech league and Stolarz can hold down the fort until the team has been rebuilt with high draft picks.

Not buying it. The Ducks aren't 5th worst in the NHL because of their top-4 defenders or their goaltending. They're 5th worst because they had a roster full of rookies who weren't as NHL-ready as almost everyone thought they were, including GMBM and the coaching staff who gave them way more than they could handle this season.

AGREE 100%. If we replaced Gibby and/or Miller with almost any other tandem  in the NHL we would most certainly be the first or second worst team in the NHL - ( might end up with a better draft pick ) - but it would be a long way back to being a CONTENDER !! IMHO

LOL! Perry to Dallas on a cheap 1-year deal is basically trolling Bob Murray as payback for bringing in Garnett and Robidas.

Wonder how Stars fans are going to take this too. Pears has been less popular in Dallas than he has been anywhere else in the league.

If he plays his very annoying style they will absolutely LOVE HIM - watch out for the WATER BOTTLE TRICK !! LOL

Well he’s already given us that article and communicated to the fans that way so that does pave the way to LTIR. Again I really do think that one of the main intentions of releasing that article was to give the fans a heads up that he was headed toward that direction. Kess is the type of guy that’s works hard and now that he’s been hurting probably wouldn’t feel right to him if he just went in LTIR without first communicating in some way that his body can’t take it anymore to his fans beforehand. Kess has always been that type of first class kinda guy. If he does go on LTIR (or retire) he will be missed. One of my fav Ducks to play on this team ever. Such a stud of player.

Do what you gottta do Kess-Boss, you will always be awesome!!

AMEN - a real class act - wish we had him earlier in his career.

Shut it down, Kes. I give him credit for gutting through the injury and getting to 1,000, but at some point he's a detriment to himself and the team. I don't think rest will really be much of a factor ... at some point you're just a 35-year old with bad hips that can't skate. Father Time is undefeated for a reason.

AGREE  - it seems likely that Kes has been working  VERY VERY HARD to get himself back in shape. He accomplished a fantastic goal -1000 games played in the NHL. I have to believe that his motivation from now on will be more difficult to maintain. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on LTIR or have his contract bought out. Either of those options would be better than trying once again to recover those gift that he once had. We all wish him well !!! IMHO

  6. I noticed that after Kestler came back into the game he was skating and all of a sudden it looked like his right hip ( or some lower body part ) caught and he had to " kick start " if again and still wasn't skating smoothly. I'll bet his hip is going down the drain and it will not  effect hm on face-offs but will on quick turns and trying to get up to speed

He kept up just fine when he was skating non-stop, but he doesn't have the ability to change directions quickly.  This has been true all season, not just one game.  And it's evident in his point totals.  He can work fine as a guy who's allowing the opposition to have the puck a lot but still has the instincts and toughness to keep goals out of the net, but doesn't have the ability to turn the puck over and quickly move to offense.  Or, when he's there, to sustain any sort of offensive pressure.  He's a decent third line center at this point.

Right on !! I've noticed that he can't seem to make the sharp cuts and turns that he used to be able to do with ease. His mind is still in the game - unfortunately his brain is writing a check that his body can't cash. He may get better OR this might be as good as he will be. So sad - a true warrior

Yep.  Gretzky has to get credit for the ridiculous numbers he put up, and I hate to ding Lemieux for the unfortunate health problems he had, but in overall production Gretzky wins.  That said, Gretzky came along and took advantage to the full extent of an era where scoring was at an all-time high and he figured out how to beat goalies.  It wasn't gimmicky by any stretch, and he deserves complete credit, but I don't think he would have been nearly as dominant in today's game.

Lemieux, on the other hand, could do things with his size and strength and hands that no other human could do.  On sheer hockey talent, I think Lemieux wins.

AGREE - not even close. Ovi will have some physical breakdowns as he gets older. He REALLLY taxes his body !!!
