Thrilling idea!  However, with McDavid and Draisaitl joined at the hip for the rest of eternity, understandably, it would take a lot more than that offer to pry Draisaitl away from the Oilers.

(Snarky alert)  The Oilers might consider the offer if they didn't have to take Gibson and Fowler...  🤐

So you don’t know how much they pay their coach, but you know he’s cheap ?

while I agree with you, because I’m a logical person and a first time NHL head coach is probably not commanding $5 mil, which is the high end of coaches.

still, you are just making things up with no facts or proof.

Greg Cronin is an expensive coach,  our ownership group is not cheap.    See this is just made up like your statement.   Bring facts next time please.

”Body of work” would you like me to drop some actual facts on you.   During the 2016-2017 season the Anaheim ducks had the #1 ranked total cap spent, 2017-2018 had the #5 ranked total cap spent.    (We were 29th this year)

Hmmmmm, would you look at that, your arguments are based in lies.   Easy to be correct when you lie, maybe even you lie to yourself and don’t know it ? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    GET HIM 👏🏼😃

    p.s. Superior Intellect = facts

some people just can’t admit they’re wrong.

I watched the US U18 game today. Mainly to see how Eiserman looked, and to see if anyone else stood out. One player that stood out to me is Trevor Connelly. He’s got top 10 skill, but there’s some character concerns around him. Nothing as bad as some of the other players in previous drafts you may have heard about, but the Athletic did a whole story about him. He’s ranked in the middle of the 1st round, but he could be a great pick if he drops to wherever Edmonton’s pick ends up being. He’s from Tustin.

As for Eiserman, he was a bit better than I was expecting. I was expecting him to have a great shot with not much else, but he had some good moments 5 on 5. He made a couple of nice plays, and wasn’t lazy on defense either. There were times when he tried to do too much in the offensive zone, was selfish with the puck, and then took a bad shot when other players were open in better spots. That’s been a critique I’ve read a lot about him. He scored two goals on the PP showing off his shot.

Getzlaf was projected to be top 3 in 2003 but dropped because of his “attitude” 😂

I think Mintyukov, LaCombe, and Zellweger, barring injury or trade, are locks for the Opening Night roster in Oct. 2024.

I can’t stand LaCombe. He makes a lot of bonehead mistakes. Mintyukov + Zellweger look like our future 1-2 shutdown pair down the road. Both like to skate up but also have the wheels to back check. They only take calculated risks and seem to always make the right decisions.

LaCombe + Gibson = our blockbuster

    (summer or deadline trade).

I'm worried it's both knee and ankle. It doesn't look good at all. I also don't think Weeger did enough to avoid falling on Carlsson's leg. To me, it looked pretty reckless, and perhaps even borderline-intentional when he fell down into Carlsson's right skate.

If there's a surgery involved, they'll tell us. But if nothing is torn that requires surgery, it'll just be IR - Lower body with no timetable for return.

Ankle is fine. He wear Bauer Machs. The stiffest boot there is. I’m more concern about his tib/fib and the knee joint. His knee did this        <

I expect to read nonsense on a message board from time to time but this is a whole new level of it.

So you say that if Gibson gets scored on 4 times we lose and if it happens with Dostal we win. And you´re point was proven yesterday.

Season opener last season. Point disproven.

Seconded. That post was some straight up buffoonery 🤮

    Just wait for the storm.

    Vatrano is on fire.

Boosch is a great little pick up. Physical and blocks a ton of shots.

Johnston is what it is. I haven’t seen anything special about him, but he is a large human that will grab a guy by the neck if he doesn’t like what he sees. So there’s that.

I am really curious what this team looks like with Killorn. Where he fits exactly is debateable, but we could have something here. Maybe the team is better than we thought, or Cro is turning the gears and pushing the right buttons that makes this group click.

The biggest thing for me that I like, imo, is there is actually some consideration for how to build lines that work and play off each others strengths. In recent times (pre Cro) some line combos just made you scratch your head, then they would never break them up, forcing the subject like it would change.

At the expense of another high draft pick, I hope they keep going. They may not NEED that high pick. A solid signing or two/trade next season and these guys may be a couple years ahead of schedule. This has NJ vibes timeline.

Exactly. I said this in another thread,

but I had a dream where the coaches asked Zegras, “would you rather be scoring points like Jack Hughes or winning games like Jack Eichel?”

Z’s play away from the puck since his benching looks phenomenal. His backchecking tonight had urgency and he just looked locked in. Turned on the jets for scoring opportunities when he needed to. They’ll go in for him eventually. To have this well rounded game will take him, and the team, very very far… for a long time.

  8. This is it!! This is the end of a rebuild and beginning of the future we’ve been waiting for!

    Mintyukov is a golden goose

    Carlsson is so damn solid

Zegras is backchecking and doing it well

    Terry is shooting

McTavish is a 200 foot player

    Vatrano is a workhorse

Combo of Gudas and Boosh makes teams second guess laying a hand on our players

With the CoCro (coach Cronin… eh?) putting an emphasis on defense, our goalies don’t have to save us nearly half as much as before.

I can see it. We’re there. This is it. This is what we’ve been emotionally invested for. I’m ready to love again. The Ducks are back!

Z has looked a lot sturdier tonight than last season.

    Somewhere there’s a Spider-Man/Zegras Iron Man/Cronin meme going like

Spider-Man/Zegras holding hockey stick: BUT IM NOTHING WITHOUT IT!

Cronin/Iron Man: If you’re nothing without it, you don’t deserve it

If not…. someone make it, please!

Great to see the Ducks win tonight but this is going to be another Verbeek massive mistake. Carlsson 0 points in 1sr preseason game against a rookie ljneup. Fantili 2 assista in hos first game. I truly belive Verbeek made a big whiff there

Then your beliefs wrong. I’d rather have a new Getzlaf than a new Zegras. We need Carlsson’s strength and high IQ down the middle.

I think if I’ve learned anything is that whenever things leak about the Ducks it’s never fully true. They’ve alway been very tight lipped. So this is all probably some ploy from Zegras’ camp. I feel it’s a failure to not have this and JD ready for camp, but I don’t feel panicked, maybe a tad annoyed.

100% not panicked. Z and JD have been working out and skating all summer. And I know for a fact, McT & Co. (teammates) are calling/texting the duo daily with, “we did _________ in camp today” to keep them posted.

I CANT WAIT TO HAVE HOCKEY AGAIN!!!!

Zegras has leverage in the sense that the Ducks can’t score and he’s one of the only players that can produce offense. He’s 22 also. If he turns into a perennial 70+ player then that’s rare for this team to have. I don’t like the odds of them replaced by him. It’s not about scaring him off, it’s about him not playing, the Ducks still being bad, he potentially wanting out and then the cycle repeats.

If if’s and but’s were candy and nuts…

Meanwhile the Ducks are again the laughing stock of the NHL and not because of "Mighty" or Disney or any of the things before. Sixteen million in cap space and you can't even get your young star signed. Regardless of how some Anaheim fans think of his game, he's very popular around the league. And those people are wondering WTF is wrong with Verbeek.

How many fans, including you and I, have ever ran a franchise?

    None.

How many times has Zegras carried the team like Perry, Getzlaf, or Teemu used to?

    None.

Verbeek wants to sign Zegras long term but Zegras’ camp wants a bridge deal to make more $$$ when the cap is raised. So the only bargaining power Verbeek has is a low offer. How many offers can Zegras take from other teams?

    None.

Verbeek is pushing Zegras’ hand to “either take a long term deal which will come with a higher offer (6-8mil) or take this short term, low offer.” Verbeek has all the negotiating power. Zegras is good, but he’s not #8, #10, or #15 good. But honestly, how many people do you think from the Ducks management staff are hoping this offer scares him off?

    None
