  1. I think we're just seeing the ugly side of business in sports. Both parties want the best. Again we don't know if the $3-4m is a counter offer and not the starting offer from Verbeek. We're not hearing the whole story. Zegras's agent coudlve said we want $8m+ and Verbeek knowing how outrageous that is countered with $4m so they can meet in the middle somewhere. Like I said this is the ugly side of sports. I want to remind you that Rakell and Lindholm didn't sign their first RFA contracts 3 weeks into the regular season. If i recall they practiced in Sweden with an SHL club during the entire training camp and first weeks of regular season.
  2. Obviously any player will be frustrated with this kind of situation. I don't need to be an expert hokcey insider to tell you that. But the anger and frustration you're sharing on the link stems from Elliott Freidman's speculation. Not a first hand account that he was told they're bitter and angry at management. The second link literally piggy backed off Friedman's speculation and ran with it.
  3. I'm wondering how the younger guys on the team feel that their captain Jenner and franchise star Gaudreau publicly stated that there was nothing strange about the situation. And how they felt going through their phones was a good ice breaker getting to know eachother. This was notably stated earlier in the week before the investigation, so not sure if they felt pressure to protect themselves and management first. But even so, as a young player hearing the statements, I would feel a lack of unity from up top.
  4. Torn achilles. We probably won't see him til 2024. Leo Carlsson come on down.
  5. Here's an interview to get to know the next Ducks coach. He really dives into the way he sees the game and the different coaching styles he will instill compared to the Eakins year.
  6. Derek Grant has moved on and signed with Zurich in the Swiss League. Adding this here just for informative purposes if anyone wonders whatever happened to him.
  7. I believe this only applies to players under 20 who were drafted out of the CHL, and their rights still belong to the CHL team. Carlsson would be eligible to play in the AHL.
  8. Looked at the last 4 major top 10 draft picks: McTavish $2.5m annual performance bonus Drysdale, Zegras, and Lindholm $850K annual performance bonus each For the hell of it looked at Ritchie too since he was a #10 pick and we gave him $500K the first year and $850K next two in performance bonus. Carlsson's incentives are significantly higher. I'm not sure if that entices him to want to start in Anaheim instead of the SHL.
  9. It's a performance bonus heavy contract. Not sure if that guarantees him to start the season here with us.
  10. I agree that Killorn's contract is too high, but in order to bring someone to a crap team with no prospect of being competitive in 2 years, you have to unfortunately overpay. When it comes to Henrique vs Killorn, I don't look at the comparable age here. Henrique's compete level is nowhere near Killorn's, nor is his history. With the constant losing atmosphere in the locker, the winning mentality Killorn brings with his extensive experience of battling deep in the trenches is invaluable (4 stanley cup runs). He brings a lot more to the locker room. Henrique has only made the playoffs twice, the second being a sweep. Again, I'd rather have someone who understands what it takes. I hope Klingberg lost his agents number. I believe he had an 8 yr $56+ million offer on the table by dallas 2 years ago. He'll never see that type of money ever again .
  11. Because it's always doom and gloom with many on this platform. Getting tired of the impatient negativity. Many think being a GM is playing a video game and that you can convince and sign anyone on your team. Adding Killorn and Gudas is a great start in this off-season given the lack of locker room leadership and grit on this team. We'll see what Verbeek has up his sleeves with "more things to come".
  12. It depends who hosts the tournament. For WJ that's usually the case since Canada and the US hosts most of these events. For WC it'll be on the larger ice surface. I believe Finland plays on a hybrid ice size somewhere in between NHL and IIHF size.
  13. Here is a snippet of the rule: "Teams were required to protect any contracted players with no move clauses (NMCs) with one of the team's slots for protected players, unless the contract expired on July 1, 2017, in which case the NMC was considered void for the draft.[9][10] Players whose NMCs had limited no trade clauses had to still be protected". I assumed his 8 team NTC covered it, but i may be misinterpreting the rules.
  14. he had a no movement clause and was required to be protected...yes i know, believe it or not, murray gave him a 2 year contract with a no movement clause.
  15. Yea what I meant by my comment is that he was behind Brossoit and Hill in terms of support. Keep in mind also that they started the playoffs with Brossoit and Hill, and Brossoit got hurt.
  16. I'm betting he'll be retiring and the team knows it. Quick's skate was more out of respect of an amazing hockey career. There was a difference the way his teammates applauded him raising the cup versus the jubilant screams, as if it was a curtain call standing ovation. He didn't touch the ice in the playoffs but having a 2x cup champion in the locker room is massive to have behind Brossoit and Hill, two highly inexperienced goalies.
  17. Caulfield just signed 8 x $7.85M contract, This will likely be the target of where Zegras will fall.
  18. Dubas has been after him for a while in the last couple offseasons. I believe a rumor came out that Gibson and his agent emphatically said no to playing on a Canadian team when it was leaked the Leafs had a trade set with the Ducks last summer. Now Dubas runs the show in GIbson's hometown Pittsburgh. With Gibson wanting out of a rebuild and Jarry being a UFA this summer, I wont be surprised if Dubas is knocking at the doors again.
  19. Fair point, and i realized you never mentioned hes not a #1 so there was no need for me to continue to defend my position with you. Again, basing my commentary around people in the pregame bars or restaurants when i have hockey conversations with Ducks fans. And the struggle i have with how a lot have viewed him even during the last 5 years.
  20. Yes salary semantics is important here because it impacts how a GM needs to create cap flexibility (being it internally or having to meet the capfloor), and how it impacts moving other pieces or attaining players we need. For example not re-signing Perron back in the day. I agree He is a good defender. I dont disagree. My struggle is mainly how ducks fans have talked about him as if he's this wunderkind. The way Hazy overly praises him or the way i see Ducks fan see him as this top core dman is someting i dont agree. I dont need to have a back and forth match with you bc you clearly agree that he's not a top line defenseman either. So you're not the person i have a gripe against. It's based on other discussion when he's seen as this great top 10 NHL defensemen. And to be fair, a lot of ducks fans at the Honda Center are not knowledgeable about hockey to begin with. A
  21. I've watched hockey for a very long time. i have a strong understanding of hockey --you can talk to my peers about this....a lot my predictions and notions of the game actually ends up reality...im just adding this point bc of your assumption of my severe lack of understanding and not about me trying to brag or anything. I didnt imply that the team sucks and therfore im blaming him. just saying that proving he's a really good defensemen based on the last 3 years is moot. im basing it off of the performance i saw in 2015-2018 specifically where he essentially is a non factor in big moments in the playoffs. thats a reality.
  22. when he was signed in 2018, $7-8M was a high salary for defensemen though. he got paid $7.5M with a couple years having lower salary hit to reduce the cap. But he was still paid $7.5M which was 3rd highest salary i think on the roster at the time. After seeing his performances in the playoffs 2015-2018 i was shocked Murray signed him to that contract, given i thought we should have been all in on Lindholm at the time.
  23. At the same time we're the worst outscored team in the last 3 years too. Relatively speaking, yes he is our best at this point. But that doesn't really say much about him because more likely than not most 2nd pairing veteran on other teams could do the same for us. I agree that he is a good defenseman but i struggle like DT2008 why we see him as this top rated defenseman. He is serviceable at best and a really good "regular season" type defenseman. But his soft approach in the corners and in front of the net is something i never liked about his game.
  24. I agree with you. I have never been a fan of considering Fowler a number 1 or 2. I've felt that way ever single year since 2015 during those deep playoff runs we had. He doesnt attack the dirty areas as needed; I have rarely seen him go on full beastmode in the playoffs; he gets pushed around too easily in front our net; I dont see "leadership" when i watch him on the ice whatsoever. If he was in the second unit and we had a strong top line, i'd be totally fine with him on the team. He is an important asset on any team with his skating ability and high IQ when he has the puck. But I do find it troubling that Murray has placed him as this number 1 type player over the last 7-8 years, haveing moved pieces around but keeping him intact over those years.
  25. Based on his interview after the lottery draft that it doesnt sound like Verbeek will have a coaching decision soon.
