  1. What gets me is that a kid like Zegras is playing the system and gets roasted for it by Anaheim fans.
  2. Other than bragging rights it really shouldn't be a big deal. Let's see who's better in 5 years, 10 years or 15-20 years (I'll be 6 feet under by then). Also I think Fantilli is the one who jumps ship. Bedard, why would he leave? Original 6 team and making powerball money. Carlsson probably learns how to surf in the off season. Let's get Carlsson when he's actually ready both physically and mentally.
  3. I don't know. I think he would have had a better chance in Anaheim. The Sharks have way more LHD's in the system than the Ducks. Grier can just sit on Thrun because he will be a 10.2c after his ELC is up.
  4. Single season of 50 points or the entire time of being in Anaheim? Because Cullen didn't have a 50 point season. He had a 48 point season in 2001-2002. He never had a 50 point season with any team he played for after that. However, he was the most productive 2nd round forward pick for Anaheim in his time here whether it was single season or total time. The next most productive forward? Max Comtois with 86 points total.
  5. I don't think they want to trade him. That's more media driven. They could trade or waive Kubalik. However, I've heard some reports that Norris injured himself...again. They technically have 20 on the roster and are in the black with cap space. Maybe they are waiting to see if anyone needs to go on LTIR.
  6. Yes of course. It was a sweetheart deal. A retirement deal. Of course Killorn isn't going to turn it down. If you're going to overpay at least let be to someone who isn't 34. He's getting paid for what he did in Tampa. Now despite Killorn saying he wants to play for Montreal before his career was over, he wasn't going to take a cheap contract to go there. And since this is the largest AAV he's had in his career, coming off his best points season in his career, I'm expecting him to be at least a 60+ point player during his time in Anaheim. I guess we'll see if he is.
  7. What I'm saying is that his motivation for coming here was money. A lot of money. And he's being paid for what he did. He's not being paid for what he will do in the next 3-4 years. Killorn was fortunate to be on two teams coached by Jon Cooper with players like Stamkos, Hedman and Vasilevskiy. What I meant to say about Kane is that some Anaheim fans don't want him here because of his time with the Blackhawks.
  8. If he wanted that he would have stayed in college. I'm pretty sure he'll get paid when his ELC is up though.
  9. Phil Kessel brings hot dogs and 3 Stanley Cups but I'm pretty sure no one here wants him. I don't think anyone wants Kane either. Brining leadership and solid defense is more important than cups.
  10. I don't believe that Anaheim would match. I don't believe Anaheim would match anything over $7.5M. Buffalo already has three forwards with an AAV over $7M. The thoughts about Dahlin are about $10M. Then they will eventually have Power to sign. I think that money would run out quick. Plus they don't have a real #1 goalie. Zegras would be a nice addition for them but it's on an area where they don't really need help right now. Without a solid goalie, they could end up a lottery team again. Chicago would have to outweigh if having Zegras now would be less of a gamble than waiting to see where they draft. I guess we could all be conspiracy theorists and say they will win the lottery again. You're right, no one is going to offer sheet. There will be the kicking of the tires but just want to really see where the Ducks really value Zegras.
  11. I'm honestly surprised that the Blackhawks haven't thrown an offer sheet at Zegras. Bedard and Zegras down the middle or Zegras on Bedard's wing? They would have accelerated their rebuild. I would guess their GM isn't the gambling type. I just don't see the Sabres going the offer sheet route. Dahlin is going to command a lot of money. They need a legit starting goalie. Power will eventually hit RFA status. I could see them going the trade route but not the offer sheet route.
  12. Meanwhile the Ducks are again the laughing stock of the NHL and not because of "Mighty" or Disney or any of the things before. Sixteen million in cap space and you can't even get your young star signed. Regardless of how some Anaheim fans think of his game, he's very popular around the league. And those people are wondering WTF is wrong with Verbeek.
  13. Conversely, the team needs to advertise him if the intention is to trade him. So it doesn't help either side for him to remain unsigned especially right now at training camp. So I guess we'll see how this game of chicken turns out. I don't think Vatrano is overpaid. With Strome, I would have rather paid Rakell his contract even if it's 6 years.
  14. Did Killorn get Tampa to the promised land? I don't care that he's a 2 time cup champ. Maroon is a 3 time cup champ making $5.2M less a season than Killorn. So yes, Killorn is overpaid. And his motivation is money. He's also said that he wants to play for Montreal before his career is over. You're right, These contract talks should have started much earlier.
