Current situation reminds me of Paul Kariya holdout in 1997. Mighty Ducks did not sign him till Christmas, sighting "we have to be fiscally reasonable". then Kariya signed for $14 mil to complete 1997/1998 season and 1998/1999 season. 3 seasons later Kariya took a huge pay cut to play for Colorado.
Verbeek, is that what you want to do? Let me ask you, you spent $5 mil on Strome, $6.25 mil on 34 y/o Killorn, $2.75 on McGinn - these are players who are not going to make this team better, and it's a total of $14 mil of salary cap space. I don't really care about Drysdale that much, but I do care about Zegras, one of the few bright players on this organization. Get him signed, dude!
