  1. 🥱 august. Worst month for hockey. True valley of the sport. Besides 2020, what was the most exciting thing to happen in august? Any big trades or big signings? Or big news?
  2. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
  3. We need to be a destination players want to play in. One of our strengths is how exciting our young core is. This is headlined with Trevor and Troy. Leo Carlsson and McTavish are also part of that too. Drysdale to a lesser extent. And then our promising prospects on defense that have yet to play a single NHL game. We can’t afford to not sign Terry and Zegras long term. Not doing that hurts how we exciting of a destination we are. And will also risk pushing our rebuild back by a few years. If terry and Zegras both sign short term that isn’t a death sentence, but it certainly is Verbeek betting a lot on the team taking a big step.
  4. I hope Pat is doing more than just thinking he’ll figure it out later in terms of the cap. We have a lot of players who will likely be commanding a lot of money within the next 3-4 years. We can’t keep them all. Oh that thought, we can not possibly think in 3 years we will be Zegras, McTavish, and Carlsson down the middle. If they all hit their ceiling, that’s a lot of money being spent on a 3rd line center. I think that would be amazing, but I do not see how that is our center depth in 3 to 4 years.
  5. If we can grab Debrincat without losing one of our young guys. I’m talking Zegras, McTavish, Terry, Drysdale, Mintykov, Zellweger, LaCombe, Hinds, Dostal, I would be all over that. I am okay with losing Lundestrom.
  6. That makes me feel more comfortable. Unless all this hanging out with Caufoeld is convincing Zegras to sign an OS from the Canadians.
  7. Question: the player has to also sign the OS, right? Not just be offered it, right? And there would be discussions with the player with that team before it? Or is it just offered and the player signs it?
  8. I hope Chicago isn’t expecting Perry to perform for them in the playoffs this season. LOL
  9. Yea. To Florida. I like this for him. I hope to see him win a cup there!
  10. Question: does this mean they will sign it? Or does this mean next step is more negotiation but they received the QO so everything is squared away legally speaking? Does this reduce the risk of RFA? I am just not understanding why we know they got a QO but we have no news about them signing said offer.
  11. Am I undervaluing Vilardi and Iafallo and Kupari? This seems like a steal for LA to not give up a byfield or turcotte or a 1st rounder.
  12. It’s amazing to me if they are able to do this without byfield involved. No way the Kings trade without an extension in place. But this may be the first time ever a player negotiated a “must-trade” clause! 😂😂😂
  13. New rule: we aren’t allowed to win a game until COLUMBUS or Chicago wins a game. Deal? Deal.
  14. Guys, this is so confusing LOL Does this mean teams 13-16 will not, under any circumstance, move up in the draft? OR does this mean say, the 14th worst team is Buffalo, if they win the 1OA lottery, worst place team keeps the 1OA pick and Buffalo moves up 10 spots to 4th OA? What if Detroit is 12th worst? And they win the 1OA lottery? Do they move up the 2nd OA? Or do they wait for the 2OA lottery, and if say Vancouver at 7th worse wins that? Does Vancouver get 2OA and Detroit gets 3OA? And the last place team gets 1OA?
  15. Duck fans are now the biggest Blackhawk’s, Sharks, and Blue jackets fans!
  16. I hate the NHL so much right now. Chicago and San Jose losing! Oh, come on!
  17. Chicago looks horrible right now. They may not win a game the remainder of the season. Arizona looks next horrible. Columbus and us have the next worse looking lines. San Jose next, only because they still have Norris favorite Erik Karlsson. I say facetiously. But I think out of all of those, regardless of the draft, we will be a better team sooner. And competing for a cup sooner. Good post by the way.
  18. Personally i get the feeling that Verbeek is learning that being a GM is harder than it looks.
  19. Oh, I see. I guess that makes sense. It was so long ago, but I don't remember how Chris Kunitz was viewed when we picked him up from waivers. But with the cap the way it is I can see why no one is interested in helping unless there's a pick. Man, what a strange time to see such weird trades. I get it. But they are a bit odd.
  20. Kasperi Kapanen on waivers today. 26 years old, right winger. I would take a flier on him. He must have some issues if he’s on waivers, but it might be that he’s just not performing as expected for a 1st round pick.
  21. Seeing rumors that Bo Horvat will be going to the Bruins. I am shocked at this. I’m shocked the Bruins want to risk doing anything to the team that has 5 regulation losses over half-way through the season. That’s a big change. I remember hearing Teemu talk about going to Burke at the 2007 trade deadline, not asking for any big changes as this team felt special. And all we got was Brad May. I guess if they are going to mess with chemistry, the earlier the better to make sure they can right the ship if necessary. But if I’m Don Sweeney, I’m not touching this roster!
  22. And to add, Florida got a point, Montreal won, and Buffalo and Detroit got a point!
  23. That is true. I could see that scenario benefiting him. When I look at it logically, I also agree, he's already had a year of Eakins, so another couple of weeks won't hurt much if at all.
