  1. The Ducks have now played about 15% of their games, or 1/7th of the season. Klingberg is making 7 million a year. We've paid him 1 million dollars so far - for what? Heck, sign me as a defenseman. I can score no goals for millions of dollars too.. (Sorry to be so uncharacteristically snarky)
  2. No way. When we win the Cup this year he'd probably drop it again. That's all we need. Besides, being traded to this team right after winning the Cup last season would probably be judged by the Supreme Court as cruel and unusual punishment, and thus unconstitutional.
  3. Wow, what a change of heart you've had! 😲 Oh wait - you're being sarcastic, aren't you...
  4. Congrats to Phil Kessel for becoming the new NHL iron man with 990 consecutive games played. Hope he gets 1000! https://www.nhl.com/news/phil-kessel-breaks-nhl-record-for-consecutive-games-played/c-336799230?tid=294573244 Of course, I would have liked to have seen Cogliano get it, but he can still hold his head high.
  5. Leadership, lack of leadership, no leadership. former leadership... Sparked a question in my head - Who do you think was/is the best Ducks leader of all time?
  6. Actually, Florida gets my "honorable honorable mention." I like the vacation-ey colors better than the standard dark blue and red. The retro just LOOKS more Florida with the palm tree and the sun. However, the hockey stick looks too much like a golf club. Negative points for that. And yes. I've always liked the Kings old-school purple and yellow better than the Raiders-clone jerseys.
  7. Wow, that's so startling I had to fact check you - you're correct! Gads, that means our D isn't playing offense OR defense... ☚ī¸
  8. Ha Ha. You know, it's ok to admit it when Fowler has a good game - the world won't come to an end. 😉
  9. I was chuckling while thinking about the posters in this thread as I heard the Ducks announcers gushing over how amazing Fowler was doing tonight against the Bruins. 😏
  10. ...And on a related subject. I was looking at Gibson's mask during a stoppage of play against the Bruins tonight and thought, "That mask looks awfully familiar. Where have I seen that before?" Before long an ancient memory drifted into my ancient mind... "I think it's time to buzz the tower, Goose." "Ahh no, Mav! I don't think that's a good idea!"
  11. Finally an Anaheim design I like! After spending way to much time judging the 32 retro jerseys, I finally decided on my three favorites. I eliminated from contention the Ducks jersey because I'm biased, I eliminated jerseys that are too similar to the standard ones, and I eliminated the ones that were just plain ugly. Top three for me: 1 - Jets. I like the simplicity. Good color combination. 2 - Canadiens - Awesome unexpected color shift! 2 - Golden Knights - Simple and to the point. Honorable mention - Coyotes. I appreciate the cultural influences. Last place - Sharks. Looks like a ratty faded t-shirt with "Sharks" on the front. (No offense to the people who work hard on these designs.) --------------------------------------- There's a link in the article to the first version of these jerseys released two years ago. My top three of THOSE are: 1 - Avalanche - Love the Nordiques jersey with Colorado colors! 2 - Canucks - Great fade from blue to green. 3 - Flames - Always liked the sriracha-eating horse Honorable mention - Hurricanes - Nice retro Whalers design Last place - Ducks. I... hate... that... jersey...
  12. 1 - Captain Obvious here: We've been outshot 72-129 in three games. 24-43 per game average. Out of nine periods played the Ducks have had only one with double digit shots on goal (10). 2 - Outside of that, what I see during the game is a blur of bodies in our own end and all the sudden the puck's in the net. Then I see a blur of bodies at the other end of the ice and the the puck doesn't go in. 3 - Is beer really $19.50? Geeze. Good thing I'm an Ovaltine kind of a guy...
  13. Perhaps a more pertinent question would be - how long will our penalty-kill coach last? 😱
  14. OK - Last time I did this I was REALLY wrong - In a bad way đŸ˜Ŧ. So, let's try it again! How do you think the Ducks will finish in the standings this season? I think they'll finish one spot out of the playoffs with 94-97 points. Which would be a welcome improvement, I might add! What do you all predict?
  15. Was looking at NHL.com and all the places the Av's players have taken the Stanley Cup. And I thought, "Hmm, where would I take it if I won the Cup?" Where would YOU take it? I think I'd hike it up to the top of "Mt Baldy," about 35 miles NNE of Anaheim. (Mt San Antonio to the layman...) Over 10,000ft high! I'd hire someone else to carry it though...đŸ˜Ŧ
  16. At the Draft a month or so ago, McTavish got to announce the Duck's second selection. I remember at the time thinking how confident and professional he sounded for such a young player. Now he's wearing the "C" on Canada's world junior team. Any possibility he might be wearing an "A" this year for the Ducks?
  17. And if he gets a deep dark tan he'll become a Klingon... đŸ¤Ē
  18. Hmm... If we want full throttle offense attack I'd say Drysdale. If we want a safety net for Klingberg I'd say Fowler.
  19. Ahh, Ruslan. RIP 24, poor guy. Responsible defenseman. Had a cannon of a shot, but worried the glass replacement crew more than the goaltender! đŸ˜Ŧ
  20. While perusing the web I found a webpage asking who might be the most underrated NHL player. So I said to myself, "Self, who's the most underrated Duck of all time?" I'll start... Steve Rucchin Any other opinions?
  21. Ahh, OK. I misunderstood the part in parentheses. I thought you meant they're both 29 or older. One thing about Shattenkirk and Klingberg to consider. Chemistry is really important; an intangible. The chemistry between Kariya and Selanne is an obvious example, but remember how unexpectedly well the pairing of Fowler and Gudbranson worked? Perhaps Shattenkirk has never found that chemistry with anyone on the Ducks yet. Perhaps Klingberg will (or wont). Wouldn't it be great if they both found good chemistry with each other on the same line?
  22. Hey Gorb55, Nice post! I liked how you didn't reveal the players at first - ha! BUT... Am I not seeing something here? Kevin Shattenkirk has played 816 games with 433 points, not 536 games with 321 points. 🤔
  23. Ahh, clever! Thanks for the explanation, G55.
