  1. Pretty much sums it up as not defensible. Which is even worse when the fact that Verbeek kept that coach around thus perpetuating this: soft, with forwards not wanting to fight for the puck, preferring to shoot from the perimeter with little follow-up. The defense has been exposed as erratic and undisciplined."
  2. Dude coached a team back in the day that only lost 9 games. All year. I know times were not the same but it is one hell of an achievement in any era. That would be great here...
  3. Excellent take. On all counts. Age doesn't mean anything. I hope he is the next Scotty Bowman. I remember him eating the ice cubes and the towels... A real coach.
  4. He’s not the only person wondering WTF is wrong with verbeek. I want the name of the person (s) who are responsible for hiring him. We have all, in our lifetime had to hit a home run at some point in order to do or say something about ourselves that puts the interviewer in the position of “I just have to hire this person!” Can anyone out there picture this in their “mind’s eye” as a possibility?? It seems improbable 🤨. Yet, here we are looking like amateurs with a terrible team for the last 5 years or more with the next super player who with a real coach could reach his potential and fill the arenas around the league with excitement and winning hockey. This is a nightmare. Supporting the team minus zegras is tough. As for Drysdale, he must be related to Mr. Drysdale from the Beverly Hillbillies- not too smart and making all the wrong moves. He needs to get to camp and play hockey and get paid when he’s shown he can bring the goods.
  5. Really development? What’s that? How did this guy get hired? Who other than kilorn knows anything about championship winning??? It feels like he memorized some words that sounded good (exciting) and just repeated them… He is a living version of Mr Potato Head… sorry…
  6. The worst thing about this GM is the fact that he’s doing the old fashioned and outdated version of negotiating (that clearly never works) and is old school (whatever that means) and he doesn’t respect or value the young guys that ARE the modern NHL. I’m fairly certain that the reports of the low, inappropriate offer are true and the fact that this is how he thinks and acts proves that the title of this thread is balls accurate. That really makes being a fan of this team so difficult. Keep this up this team will be the Washington team that the Harlem Globetrotters played- they never won.
  7. Raise your hand if you are excited about the upcoming season? I really would like to be but the fact that there is reluctance or just a basic knowledge of "how to sign and manage players" by the GM keeps showing up - it just feels like things are in disarray and I can't imagine being a player on the team. Got a new coach that know one really knows or has heard of. Got a GM that is still outside the Honda Center trying to figure out where his keys are and owners that are planning their "look good/feel good Susan" moments for the upcoming season... Look what happened across the street - the best player of the decade cleaned out his locker and said "Peace out Bitches - I'm done." Seems like that could happen here and soon. No one wants meddling owners but this management style really sucks with how it relates to me as a fan - I love the Ducks but as every day passes, I'm ready to move on... And the worst part is that it seems that we fans who take the time to post our thoughts, ideas and feelings are starting to turn on each other - another sign that things are not good.
  8. Or, beeker takes so long to cook the noodles (aka make a decision) that they are well past their due date for safety and freshness and have expired. That is my take on the noodles
  9. I will have a crack at an answer: 1. because the defensemen GMPV wants to bring in couldn't stop an athsma attack... 2. because he isn't creative and doesn't do things well - especially when there is more than one thing to do... 3. he isn't creative 4. he is not someone with "vision" 5. he was a mediocre player at best and this work is not any different
  10. I'm inspired! Great move! (he said never)...
  11. It's okay. PV is still staring at the two pennies...
  12. As Jim Mora once said: "Playoffs! Playoffs! We sucked..."
  13. I’m not sure “thinking” is part of his skill set He just has the veneer of incompetence- uh, you know?
  14. Really good points being made here. I always marvel at the intelligence, passion and thoughts of the posters on this forum and in the case of PV their willingness to see what he can do. I think this has expired and he has to go. But, ownership says otherwise so the team is stuck. His latest stunt or attempt at negotiations shows his lack of intelligence and ability to manage the players and make Anaheim a landing spot for other big time NHL players to come here. It just feels so negative and the team we passionately love and support seems to be fading away into losing, penny pinching with a serious "lack of vision towards a brighter future and winning success". I wish it was different. But it isn't. Perhaps the fans will stop showing up. That's the only way to reach these out of touch penny pinching owners. Boo Susan when she goes on the ice to show off... That's a start...
  15. If it was a call to PV it would have started with "Um, uh, uh, you know..."
  16. Good signings indeed. I never liked Gudas because he was so difficult. Not the case now. And Kilorn has that Tampa Bay "thing" that was taught to him by the best coach in the league and hopefully he will bring that to Anaheim. Gorde did the same thing with the Kraken - especially in the playoffs. A few more like that might coax a few more wins for we, the fans...
  17. I think you say a lot of things that others would like to say. The extensions are a thing at this point. His sense that he thinks the team is better than it actually is clearly seems to be a thing. His inability to negotiate a home run deal - even one - to give us fans something to rally and feel hopeful. What we end up with is bottom end borderline NHL players with bad contracts. This is not a good general manager.
  18. And this is the guy that guys “in madden we trust?”
  19. I don’t care who they drafted He is just better at it
  20. I’m so envious that the ducks don’t have a real GM like Detroit clearly does nor will they ever have one.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I like smart too. It's just that these guys are using it to justify the pick - to me it's a prerequisite to be "smart" in order to get to the level of play in the NHL.
  22. Based on the body of work so far by the GM, it seems he just doesn't think in broader terms - he likes size I guess and that darned "high IQ". (I swear if I hear that again I'm going to play on the freeway...) It's underwhelming to watch all the other teams making moves. I can only think that the ducks ownership has told him - you can have the job but don't make any more moves than necessary and make sure they are cheap... Another season of ineptitude looms large.
