Completely disagree. He was given an opportunity he did not deserve and basically stole 4 years of salary. It is important to set a new tone and every minute they don’t is a minute wasted.
And the Caps have fired Laviolette.
The Pens, after missing the playoffs for the first time in 17 years wasted no time cleaning house, firing Hextall, Burke and the asst GM. The Ducks, having complete an historically bad season, have done nothing but talk.
I can’t say this any clearer. For the good of the organization, they must lose in regulation tonite. Forget about the first round, losing tonite improves the draft capital in every subsequent rounds. Winning tonight is just a huge FU to the fans.
I would argue that the fans with a long term investment in the team are the ones most in favor of them doing as poorly as possible this year. We recognize that each draft year is not the same. This year is special. It’s one of the reasons we saw so few first round picks traded at the deadline. More so, winning meaningless games at the end of the season provides a false sense of hope. If we are truly honest, there are only a handful of NHL players on the Anaheim or San Diego rosters. The rest are interchangeable place holders.
Because they should be rewarded for at least competing. Why should teams get rewarded for poor asset management? If you want to penalize the Pens then limit how many spaces you can move up like they are doing now.
Relegation simply means you take the lowest point teams and move them to the AHL and promote the top AHL teams to the NHL.
Doan’s plan is far too complicated. It also penalizes teams who are fighting to get into the playoffs till the last day. My plan is much simpler. Pull the non-playoff teams out of a hat, no weighting.
Pleased to see Eakins taking my advice and starting Ek. Now just bench Zegras and we have a chance.
If you want to eliminate tanking, you have two choices. The first is relegation to and promotion from the AHL. The second is an unweighted draft where all non-playoff teams have the same chance at the top pick. The first would not be acceptable to the owners and players (despite it being used in other leagues in the world). That leaves the second, which was the way the NBA did it in their first draft lottery. I would be in favor of that approach to determine the first round
Someone apparently did not watch the Chicago and Columbus games last night. If those were not lost on purpose I don’t know what is. Sure they have won games this last month, but as soon as they ran the risk of not finishing with the worst record, they stopped competing. Even if you don’t get Bedard, drafting first in the subsequent rounds is valuable too. Here’s to 0-13!
And yet some of you think that it would be unethical for the Ducks organization to lose on purpose. Forget Ericsson-Ek, bring up players from the ECHL to play the last 4. Score on your own net if you have to. But do not earn a point over these last 4. If you don’t think the Blackhawk and BJ organizations are being told to lose, you aren’t paying attention.
At this point, it is incumbent on ownership and management to require the team to lose. Nothing short of roster manipulation will do. Anyone showing any sort of effort should be benched.
Yes. So what? He made a mistake. Not looking for an Angel, but he won after taking over Florida and is performing well as an assistant in NJ. I don’t want anyone remotely connected to the Ducks organization in the role.
While it’s still early, I would not mind Andrew Burnette being brought in. He led the panthers to the President’s Trophy last year as an interim and is playing a critical role in NJ.
The fact that this team has a goal differential more than 30 goals worse than any other is indicative that they really should be lower in the standings. Hopefully they are leap-frogged by the other 3 teams over the last 7 games.
