  1. So I happen to be in Vegas tonight on a long planned vacation. Staying near the arena. If there is a less deserving fan base for success, it has to be Vegas. I truly cannot wait for them to suck.
  2. Disappointed to not see Brunette with Anaheim. Makes me think we are waiting until the price comes down on some of the retreads.
  3. Maybe it was the years that he played, but I simply can’t remember much about Ryan’s time with the Ducks. We can’t afford for the #2 pick to simply be a “solid” player. He needs to be a difference maker.
  4. I would be disappointed if we see stop gap veterans getting ice time. Regardless of record, it is critical to see what talent we actually have in the system. They need to be playing at the NHL level
  5. Atlanta’s problem was not attendance. It wa ownership that either had failed real estate or did not want to own a hockey team.
  6. Doesn’t beat Atlanta by a mile.
  7. Just bumping this forward since I started this thread.
  8. I want someone not connected to the losing ways of the current team. Brunette took over a difficult situation and led the Panthers to the Presidents Trophy. As a player, he was a less talented Pat Verbeek.
  9. Questions to think about: Is it really good for the NHL and hockey in general to not have a Canadian team win the cup in 30 years? What does it say about hockey when you may have two recent expansion teams playing for the Western Conf title? Good management or something else?
  10. If Matthews wants to play for a competitive team close to home, Anaheim fits the bill. I just don’t understand how we expect the fan base to wait another year before the team begins making moves.
  11. Game start was carried on ESPN2. Contractually ESPN cannot move from the in progress game.
  12. The organization needs a superstar now. If you wait you waste the opportunity.
  13. Would you be willing to swap our 1st and our 2nd for Matthews (assuming he signs an extension)? Or perhaps both 2nds and next year’s unprotected first? I really want to see Verbeek swing for the fences to acquire marquee talent.
  14. They may not be the flashiest team in the league, but I really like how Carolina plays.
  15. It seems to me that the organization slow walks prospects to the NHL. It’s almost as if they would prefer to keep them as some distant prospect instead of finding out they were not what they expected when they drafted them. After this last year, I think it’s time to accelerate the process and play the kids.
  16. I struggle with how much people defend Fowler. The issue is that he is very much a serviceable, above average defenseman who is paid as a 1D. The fact that his draft year produced only a handful of memorable players and even fewer defensemen is neither to Cam’s credit or detriment. He is what he is, a well paid second paring guy whose hockey sense is not great. I will give him credit for longevity.
  17. Sorry, but where are the prospects we’ve been accumulating over the years? Seeing names like Carrick or Groulx or Silf, etc. seems like a waste of time.
  18. Fowler fell because of concern about his lack of physical plan, average shot and overall average hockey IQ. Frankly the scouts were right.
  19. No one brought up the risk of injury factor of playing in College. Financially it makes no sense since his draft position cannot improve. The only way I would select him is if it’s understood that he is turning pro this year.
  20. If there is even the slightest doubt that Fantilli will not sign for this year, then you have to move on quickly. My preference would be via a trade when Columbus or San Jose for their pick and a top 6 player. Anaheim cannot be in wait and see mode this year. They need to see exactly what they have in their prospects and use their draft capital for established players. I am more than willing to finish last with all the prospects on the roster than to muddle along with fringe experienced players just to kick the can down the road
  21. If Fantilli goes back to college, then we are literally no better than we were at the end of the year. Guess we’re going to be “Tankin” for Macklin in 2024 and “Messin” for Mesa in 2025. The reinforcements can’t get here soon enough.
  22. Chicago sold over 2 million in season tix since last night. Can you imagine how many jerseys will sell before he ever sees the ice? Pretty sure not a single ticket was sold in Anaheim because they have the number two pick.
  23. You folks are stretching a bit here. Rarely are there two franchise players at the beginning of a draft. More likely to have two mediocre players than two superstars. Since Bedard is viewed as the superstar in waiting, that means Fantilli will have his work cut out for him. Hoping it’s Ovechkin/ Malkin and not Jack Hughes/ Kaapo Kakko
  24. Order is irrelevant. There were 24024 possible combinations of 4 numbers being drawn from 14 without replacement. Each 4 digits could be arranged 24 different ways (1,2,3,4 or 1,2,4,3 etc.). Dividing the 24024 by 24 produced 1001 possible 4 digit sets. They assign one as a redraw, leaving 1000 sets. Those 1000 sets are divided up. Ducks got 185 of them. All this of course assumes there was anything in the paper the guy was looking at.
  25. This literally says nothing to me. Show me the numbers close up. Show me the number sets each team has. Why should Intrust the guy saying Chicago or Anaheim? Why do this nonsense anyway. Just have a 100 balls with team logos in the same percentages and draw it that way. What a clown show.
