Milano has been hurt. But he’s always made us better when he’s on the ice.
No way do I protect Shattenkirk, Henrique l, Silfverberg. The part that annoys me is that we now HAVE to protect Rakell and Manson because we didn’t trade them. So you better hope they stay healthy and don’t suck to close the season.

I think you protect Mahura unless Fleury really impresses. Not to mention you can make a deal to Seattle and make sure you don’t lose someone you want

Completely disagree on Milano.  He won't ever amount to anything decent.

  2. JasOaks posted this in game thread that is now closed but I wanted to comment on the whole Tim Peel thing too:

Ya know...I'm wondering if that whole we don't have a power play till the final second of the game thing is a response to Tim Peel's firing...you sort of assume after so many power plays for one team...that a penalty is probably gonna be called... but...now that this whole Tim Peel thing and Campbell coming out and saying "wE dOn'T dO tHaT"........when, yes, we do.....the pendulum is gonna swing all the way to the other side and start seeing it more one-sided....

not good news for us who already have it pretty one-sided lol

We've known for years there has been a referee bias against the Ducks.  We all suspected it and the whole Tim Peel thing just kind of confirmed it for me.  Why is it referees can't just call the damn game and have to inject their own little feeling on any game?  I don't know if it's the whole Disney Mighty Duck thing that referees hold against the Ducks but it's gotten very very old and needs to stop.  Even the last game there were numerous penalties that could have been called against the Wild and were not.  Then they give us a penalty with one second left in the game...really??  Did we all think the same thing at the same time...eff you?  Does anybody have that completely outrageous number of penalties called against Ducks vs. for the Ducks over the past 20 years or so?

Losing is good when you have no hope of making or advancing in the playoffs.  Complete rebuild.  Trade anyone under 25 if the return is right,

Hampus and Gibson might be the only exceptions to that thought.  Someone being a fan from 1993 should see the writing on the wall.  Ducks are bad....really bad in fact.  They look worse than in the expansion days.

I remember those days very well.  Therein lies the problem because this team has way more talent than those teams did.

Back then...I only looked forward to going to the games to see if PK9 would do something magical.  Many many times he did not disappoint.

Highly Unlikely our Ducks will be Drafting him...Plus I disagree with the Tanking.

Well if we've learned anything the past couple years, our Ducks don't tank.  But I won't get too upset with losses from here on out.

    Bring back Mike Babcock...

Ducks used to have a coach.

Yea he's off the table at this point.  I mentioned this prior to the Ducks hiring Eakins, I loved Paul Maclean's time here.  I liked what I saw behind the bench, always encouraging the players and the players seemed to like that (I know I liked seeing it).

I think it's a foregone conclusion this year is over as far as the playoffs go (I don't care what BM says). Maybe they want a look at the "kids" (even though Letter is 26). I can't remember who said it last night (maybe Hazy), that Lettieri has the hardest shot on the team. Or the most lethal. Something to that effect. Maybe showcasing certain players for a possible trade. Rearrange the deckchairs if you will. At this point I've kind of checked out. I watch the games rooting for Zegras to score a goal or make a great pass. I feel bad for Gibson.

Right?  Lettieri has the "hardest shot", it was also mentioned how much Eakins misses Carter Rowney because he's our best penalty killer.  Lettieri and Rowney.  That's how bad this team has become under Murray.  While I'm not a fan of Eakins....this is MURRAY'S MESS!

I can understand that...yet to me it's slightly different. I do think it's possible for Terry to thrive under a different coaching staff and development system...that's mostly me just being cynical...but I don't remember anyone jumping at the idea of trading Wild Bill. I remember we all liked what we were seeing -- albeit it wasn't like seeing a super star in the making. But we are all pretty much excited to have him. As opposed to Terry which there are many who are not feeling him at all.

Also, not impossible for him to thrive here...but..I mean...we don't exactly have the best track record with developing forwards right now....

I agree that maybe and entirely new staff/system could be what it takes but there is no question, at least in my mind, there is some serious talent for scoring ability there.  He's had some nice shootout goals too.

He's under contract for five more years and has no trade protection clauses. It's not going to be his choice where he goes. And more than anything else, I think he just wants out of Buffalo. It's an organization that has missed the post-season the last nine seasons and hasn't been past the 1st round in 14 years.

Also, just as a reminder, GMBM has been with Anaheim since July 14, 2005, first as the VP of Hockey Ops overseeing player development and since July 9, 2008 and General Manager, and he doesn't appear to be going anywhere soon. During his tenure, the Ducks have developed exactly one top-6 centerman - Ryan Getzlaf, who was actually drafted by different regime and essentially skipped the AHL development process due to the 2004-05 lockout. So that's more than 15 years without a single top-6 center developed in the Ducks system under Bob Murray.

If not through a big move for an Eichel or a Dubois or a similar player, I don't know where Ducks fans think Bob is going to find the elite center they need to be a contender again.

I've been saying just this since the season started that Murray is horrible at developing our young talent and numerous young players have excelled after leaving Anaheim.  Armchair GM in me feels like he never lets young players be themselves, he tries to change them.

During our Stanley Cup season we landed Chris Pronger.  We landed Pronger when we had Selanne, Niedermayer and a couple of young up and coming studs in Perry and Getz.  So you could understand why Prongs would sign with Anaheim.  I just can't see a quality player like Eichel ever landing in Anaheim right now.  Rumors are possibly NYR.

Agree that's it's absurd to suggest the Gulls could beat the Ducks and those comments make my head explode too. But given the deficiencies in this roster, I think everyone has to be on the table for the right price if we want this thing to turn around. For example, if Eichel truly wants out of Buffalo, I'd give them Comtois + Steel + and unprotected 1st, and then cry the same amount of tears that I shed when Lupul was traded for Pronger (i.e. zero sad tears, many tears of joy). For me, Zegras is the only player off the table. Everyone else should be in play for the right price.

Who wouldn't love to have Eichel.  But why on gods green earth would Eichel ever want to come to Anaheim??  If you want somebody like Eichel the Ducks would have to land another big fish too IMO.  Highly unlikely.

  10. Mixed feelings for me as it's the end of an era.  CPears has been my favorite Duck since very early in his career.  Watching him the past couple of years has been painful.  It would have been nice for Pears to perhaps restructure his contract to stay here but not many players do that these days.  I'm assuming he was approached with that and declined so buying him out was the right thing to do as painful as it was.

  11. I really can't complain what BM did yesterday and today.  We moved a young but very mistake prone and poor defenseman, IMO, in Montour for a late first rounder and a prospect.  I was so displeased with Montour all year that I'm happy with that trade.  We moved Gibbons for nothing but Gibbons was another I felt was worthless so good trade.  We moved Del Zotto who has been very meh for meh in return. Meh on that one.  I look at it  that we moved 3 worthless pieces which is another step in re-tooling this team.
