  1. Buffalo one more regulation win and we are last, a top 3 pick would be great! now everybody who don't think its good to tank I can't understand! let Buffalo the chance to take us! lose it all! put effort 2 periods and then stop skating and lose the game as we did on the last game!
  2. my goal is to stay at 30th or at least 29th, so we have a top 5 pick. if the other teams wins, I am okay with more wins from the Ducks. edit: I correct it, if we go at 29th, we lost 2 draft spots because Seattle... so let us at 30th...
  3. he said the same thing I said. Tank the rest of the way for 2 things: to get a better pick and let fire Eakins. and the whole Getzlaf thing, its not disrespect against him if you let him play on the 4th line and give the kids more ice time, we bought out Perry to give him a chance to go to a contender (and btw he almost won the cup last season and this season who knows..).
  4. he not played in the NHL-season 2006-2007 thats why I don't count him. I thought about it to write his name or not. he was nice in Sweden (MVP?), why you pay him 1 mio (no two-way) and never let him play... maybe he has trade value... yes of course, Mahura, Guhle and Benoit you can also test in the NHL. I can't understand why the only players we take from the AHL are 25+... we should test the kids to make a look what we have in the pipeline. Steel and Larsson are borderliner or not NHL worthy. Comtois scores but shows limited play, Terry try too much (what is not bad if he learns how to do better) but he is a turnover machine, Jones some good, some bad plays and bad penalties. I would like to see what the others shows us.
  5. ah I wanted change it to top 5 because STL, but I forgot it. ok Bruins, Ducks and Detroit were the only teams in the last 15 years without a top 5 pick. of course its not ONLY the elite player, but you (almost) must have at least one of them to win the Cup. you need a good goalie and teammates too, especially in defense (look at Ducks 2007 with Niedermayer one of the best defender all time plus we had Pronger and a good goalie), thats the issue what EDM and BUF have. EDM have one good year of Talbot and was suddently in the playoffs, but they has no defense. Buffalo has a losing culture (O'Reilly said that shortly before he got traded...) and no good goalie since Miller. Toronto has also a but defense. New Jersey has with Hischier and Hughes two young players who are still in their development as the two of the Rangers too, not every Elite Player start as Crosby with 100 points... its too early to judge this teams. even a Joe Thornton started with only 7 (!!!) points in 55 games his NHL career... it helps you if you have some top 5 picks. so, only 8 games to play, the best is to lose it all. and give some other players a shot (Curran, Dostal, Perreault, Tracey, Groulx ect.), 2-3 games for them to see where they have deficits and let them improve on them.
  6. look at the Stanley Cup winners of the last 15 years. Detroit and Ducks were the only winners who not drafted a guy in top 3.. WSH, LAK, CHI, PIT, TB ect. all had their top 1-5 overall and Elite players. the most of them drafted first overall players... I say, that you need at least 1 of this Elite players. we had it with Perry&Getzlaf in their prime and we were nearly there in the 2010s. now we have not one Elite player! we have 2 good prospects, but that is not enough to win a Cup! bad thing is, this draft year have not a real first overall player as was it all the years. a lot of defenders in the top 5-6... but our biggest issue is goal scoring...
  7. nice to hear, that he is a part of it.... let us keep all veterans, trade the kids and call it rebuild. :X as many games he can be healthy before he get injuried again? in the last past month he almost every week has an injury... if its correct and they are injuries... I don't know how he would like to play an other season... if his injuries are excuse to not have to play with the team, its an other thing to think about...
  8. I first thought maybe we can expose him to Seattle and so Seattle would take the risk. but if I look at our roster who we will expose: Heinen, Volkov, Milano.... Milano had a injury season and the other two would not be a big loss I think. I believe more and more that Seattle not will take a forward from us... it will be more likely one of the defenders Shatt, Fleury, Larsson, Wellinski, Mahura or goaltender Stolarz. Larsson would be nice... if he not turns to another Theodore:X
  9. Yes, I know that the jump is big between AHL and NHL. and no, I did not heard this podcast. Groulx and Eriksson Ek are both 21... at least as a forward you should take some NHL experiences, I not say that he must play 82 or in this season 56 games. but 5-10 games would be okay. so you can see where he has deficits and so he can work on it. And I would be curios to see what I drafted with Eriksson Ek and Dostal, maybe one of them can be a franchise goalie and could be a Gibson trade. what happened with Guhle, is he that bad or its because injuries? why he never had a shot again?
  10. can't understand why all this NTC/NMC AND long contracts... look at the long contracts, a lot of them are overpaid: Getzlaf, Fowler, Silfverberg, Henrique... of course then when they made the contract they are all on career highs, and some players would not sign without this clauses, but we have 6 NTC and NMC and at least 3 years contracts. yes I know, that this isn't a video game and there are people, but I think it would be a good start for the rebuild. give Zegras the C, he already showed that he deserved it as a person. fantastic was his interview before the U20 finals about the goaltender of Canada was not really tested and then he made a goal... only one word I can say there: WOW! and where is the rebuild? can't understand that too. trade away 2 young players (Kase and Montour) for 2 firsts and thats it? ok trade away this two players is okay, one is injury proned and the other looks like he has a difficult character. but we not even gave Dostal or Eriksson Ek a shot in the NHL till now and only Zegras some games and Drysdale from the kids had this year NHL games, no Tracey, no Perrault, no Groulx ect. good, I still hope there will be some action in the offseason and BM made this deadline trades not because this draft class is weak and difficult to scout and go after draft picks 2022, what should be a great draft class what I heard. but he did good all 3 trades this season... Volkov is an upgrade, Fleury is 4 years younger and was a former first rounder, Hutton for a 5th... all good trades.
  11. rules are changed, only the first 2 are lottery, so you lose maximum 2 spots. my words.... I don't can hear "he is loyal, he is the mentor" but not saying that he "wants the best for the organisation", because having a 3th is better then Getzlaf this season which is over.... its business not a "who is my loyalty star"-show. we had fun with him, he was a beast in some days. and, some don't like it to hear, but how many 7th games have we won with him as captain? 1 of 5. is game seven not a leadership thing? he is not a god what I have the feeling here some people are thinking. I don't want to blame him, I respect him, as I said, he was a beast in some years and made unbelievable plays, he deserves Hall of Fame, no doubt. but this are the facts. ignoring other opinions, very adult. but thx for the correction.
  12. no I beat his child:) he gave us a lot over 10 years, no doubt. I live in the now and in the last 1-2 seasons I missed this mentality. he had some good games in this 2 seasons, no doubt, but as I said, you see when he has will and when he doesn't have will to play. its better you retire before that, especially if you don't want go try win a cup. if I could, I would as fast as the wind go to a contender, only reason to stay: its my last season and I want to retire as a Duck, thats the ONLY reason I would not go to a contender this season! if he retires after this season, its okay. but if not, I can't understand. every top player is dogged (don't know if I used the right word) to win. look at all dominators in every sport. Schuhmacher, Armstrong (a little to much), Federer ect. they want one thing: WIN, WIN, WIN!
  13. by the way, you really want him as a mentor? a guy who has the chance to go after a cup with an other team and not wants try to win a cup (I would not think about it one second), decided he wants to stay here, play a little and let it be (you can see when he wants to play it and when he doesn't-> in this game you not notice him at all at the positive side) ... that you want as our mentor and C? for me is that a losing culture... and I don't want that in our team, I don't want the Ducks become a second Sabres! from taking a spot away from a kid I not even talking...
  14. sorry, no matter what the organisation means to you, its stupid to not try go for a cup. in 10 years you looked back to your career and regret that you not tried to win an other cup! because IF he wants the best for the Ducks, he have to retire end of season (or resign for 1-3 mio. with Ducks). if he goes in that summer to an other team... that would be a joke. you can retain 75% (in a 3way trade as CBJ made it twice) of the salary, so Vegas must "only" make space for 2 mio. but of course that could be the issue...
  15. Getzlaf and retain salary for a 2nd its a no-brainer, never should that decline! for a 3th is still a nice deal. every pick we receive for Getzlaf is a win. stop with "Getzlaf is our face... blabla", this is business guys, yes he gave us a lot. this season is over, we can't win anything, make the best for the future! we also buy out Perry for have a shot on a better team for the cup and he almost did it with Dallas... why you want to prevent it to Getzlaf? give him a shot and with Vegas he has a real shot. and if you both side wants, resign him at summer, then you have a him AND a pick.
  16. I think the offer was higher, maybe a 3th or a second... and then you should accept that offer. did anybody knows what Vegas offered?
  17. if he loves the organization, he would come for 1-2 mio or retires. he had so many injuries the last 4 years.. and where he want to go? LA or SJ? only Vegas is in the near which is contending, and he wants stay in the near because family... he would go to Vegas, Ducks or retires. I would be okay if he stay with 1-2 mio to be the mentor for the kids. but we have enough other who can be mentors for the kids.
  18. lol, you say 1-2 mio are peanuts?? 99% of the world does not have that salary...
  19. what I say, if you want resign him, 1 year 1-2 mio., not more. if he doesn't want for 2 mio, let him go.
  20. still not believe that was a late pick, 3th or 4th rounder. but every pick would benefit the Ducks. He said, he wanted the best for the organization, then a additional pick and he can resign for 1-2 mio a one year deal. yes he did a lot, but this is a business and you have to do the best for the team. I am still think, even a later pick would be better then keep him for this season here. there are 14 or 15 games, thats nothing! 15 senseless games or a pick in summer? by the way, they also buy out Perry and he did also a lot for the team, is that better?
  21. he wanted stay in the near, he waived his NMC, I am almost sure Vegas tried it and I think they put at least a 4th rounder. don't get me wrong, he made great things for our Ducks. but he now would bring us more if he got traded for picks. we have nothing to win or lose this saison. if you want his leadership, you could resign him in that summer. but for that you can also have an assistent trainer or a Deslauriers who is cheaper and not has a lot trade value...
  22. BS? THIS Season is OVER, nothing to win for, even we would win 1 or 2 games because Getzlaf (what is very doubtful because of his performance this season), it not help us for the future, the opposite is the case, it hurts our draft position! and if you have a 7th or nothing at the end of this season? what is better? especially in a draft you can pick late some good players because lack of scouting.... and I don't believe Vegas only offered a 7th! maybe a 3th, retain salary and it was too few for some people.... and that would be a no-brainer, even a 4th is a no-brainer! but we don't know what Vegas offered and maybe never will know it... I not saying: all vets should go out, but we have 4 forwards, 3 defense and some goalie as Vets... too much... 3 or 4 you can give away... and its fact that Getzlaf lost at least 15 games in 3 of the last 4 seasons with injuries, before he hasn't a lot.
  23. yeah, every linemate with McDavid makes more points.... but he had still Rakell, Comtois, Terry ect. on the wings, so the quality of his linemates is not an excuse. if resign, maximum 1,5 Mio and only for one season. but I wouldn't resign him, he is over as I said before (more injuries and less points). his game isn't the same as Teemu's was, his game is more physically and his body is earlier over than a winger like Teemu. I don't understand why they said "the offer was not enough to trade Getzy"... EVERY pick for Getzy is worth to trade him, I would even take a 7th rounder! but I think the offer was a 2nd or 3th with retain some salary... or even better... no, better young players to take over! we must build for the future, not keeping the oldies here to WASTE a roster spot in a time we win NOTHING! we should finally start with the real rebuild!!!
  24. I don't see it the same way, better he retires. his body is weak (he has more injuries, in 3 of the last 4 years at least 15 games not played) and he has some games I not even noticed him (the points falling from season to season in the last 3 seasons). its better for the future, a spot is open for a younger player. give him a staff job or something like that if you want to keep him around.
