Well, I think our Cs are gonna be Rico, Z, Strome, and Lundy

Grant, Carrick, and McT will probably be wingers for the most part....unless we move Rico (or Strome) to the wing and then I'm guessing we'd be giving the 4th slot to McT.

I'm actually not entirely sure what we do with our forward line up. It's not entirely terrible with Jones hopefully having HIS breakout year, Comtois getting back to business, hopefully Silfv is ok, and Terry making another step forward...and then add in Virtana

All I know is Benoit, Drysdale, Fowler, Mahura, Shatt, and Vaaks is a scary scary scary bad top 6 D......

    Virtana?

Whew, I thought we were going to let another year of Free Agency slide by without a quality signing but we solved that this year.  We signed a 25 year old AHLer.....    Eye Roll you gotta be kidding me.....

kid is highly touted, young, and ready to play at the NHL level. Apparently 20+ teams were highly interested in the kid. I don’t mind it at all. The Vatrano signing was money too. So far so good imo. More to come obviously.

What do you guys think is gonna happen in the next 5 days and 22 hours?????? Ducks wise. Realistically you think we move the 10th? 22nd? Trade Gibson? Grab some player???

We Want nothing to do with Dubois, Laine, or That meme faced nothing in Edmonton. Debrincat should be the goal. We sign a veteran defenseman (not sure who) , meet the cap floor by taking on a bad contract or 2 , and maybe make a push for Ethan Bear. I’d be happy with that. Don’t re-sign Manson, guy sucks under Eakins “system”.  If Burakovsky is doable then add him . Gibson is staying. Give max Jones another chance to show himself as a reliable  bottom 6, barring another injury. Debrincat is the answer despite all the reservations.

I'd rather see him do it against the Red Wings.. y'know, to really drive home the criticism that he only shows up to humiliate bad teams and terrible defences with his tricks. Awful decision but I'm not even shocked given the way the modern NHL overvalues a scoring defenceman.

Outside of Seider , Detroit’s defense speaks for itself .. Pulling it off against the likes Nashville or the Rangers would be a tad more impressive!

Seider deserved the Calder 100% tbh. Kid is mean , big , and a wizard when it comes to controlling the gap. To be that good as a defenseman your first year in the league shouldn’t be understated. yea I’d have liked to see Z win it, but that kid in Detroit is going to win multiple Norris trophy’s one day, and not one Lady Bing. That’s what I like in a D-Man

Ducks' goal scoring leaders last season:

    Terry - 37

    Zegras - 23

    Henrique - 19

    Lundestrom - 16

    Rakell - 16

    Grant - 15

    Milano - 14

Rakell is gone, so you need a guy somewhere around Terry (30-40), somewhere around Zegras (25-30), and somewhere above Henrique (20+), and have Terry, Zegras, Henrique, and Lundestrom all be around the same (or hopefully better) numbers.

Five 20-goal scorers, and at least two of them being 30+ goal scorers.

I don't see many candidates internally.

Comtois, McTavish. That's all I got.  Jones and Steel and Milano are loooooooong shots to get 20.  I don't think Silf has that in him anymore.

Lundestrom could be a dark horse to pot 20 goals. He has shown us that he can play competent defense and is a threat for the occasional SH goal here and there.

The kid has great patience and vision  with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone as well. I’d hate to see him getting 11 minutes a night on the 4th line when he could possibly bump up and show what he’s worth. To me, he’s like a Silfverberg with a lot more potential to help the offense when we possess the puck. He’s hard in the corners as well. He’s  undervalued imo on these boards .

Rather Hope for the Best then give in to Despair. Ducks have Hope and optimism in the players right now.

I think the future weighs heavily on the play of Mctavish next season. We know Z, Drys, and Terry are competent NHL players, if Mason can take that next step, the future will seem a lot clearer.

I have to give Hollywood team a full credit. Two best defenseman are gone for a season, the roster on paper looks not much better than Ducks team, yet they play good and will make playoffs. I guess it's coaching and winning mentality?

Credit where it’s due for sure, that being that they’ve exceeded expectations by a mile so far…but other than that, this could be a grim off-season for them. They’ve cooled off and have been losing games in regulation down the stretch . They either make the playoffs with no Doughty (I think Nashville will be the ones to make it tbh) and lose in the first round, or miss the playoffs entirely, ending up with a mediocre draft position. The aging core is only getting slower and more beat up with every game, especially a round of playoff hockey contributing to that. What’s the deal with their UFAs and other contracts? They’re going to regress big time next season imo. Good job accomplishing nothing this year besides winning a few more games!

    I'd like a Florida-Tampa Winter Classic. Or Vancouver-Seattle. Original 6 blows.

Vancouver vs. Seattle would be a GREAT choice! Calgary and Winnipeg would be cool too.

Id personally rather see both 15 and 10 lifted up together.

If I had it my way, I’d also wish that to be the case. Getzy singling him out and thanking him as a teammate and friend during his press conference almost had me shedding tears.

  10. Watching Getzlaf completely take over a game many times throughout the years, is what ill always remember when people bring him up. Guy had a switch, and when he turned it on, he was unstoppable. Willing the team Single handed to many wins. He's won & at every level . 1000 points, 1000
games, 2 Olympic golds, world junior gold, Stanley Cup champion, World Cup gold. Easy HOF induction
Love you Getz, glad to call you our captain and my favorite player all of these years. Your jersey will be up in the rafters in no time. Good luck with the retirement, you will be missed.

I don't know if captain ability is something we should be judging a rookie on.. especially if it's Patrick Kane, a guy with the character of someone who would only be fit to captain a frat-boy beer pong squad, that we're using as a comparison.

Don’t reply to this clown, aka buffbarnaby. He’s a troll … purely here to make a fool of himself.

I've spent a lot of time on these boards complaining about Deslauriers' presence in the lineup.  And don't get me wrong, I'm very pleased with getting a third round pick for him and do not take back anything I said about his lack of hockey skill.

I will say, though, that the guy is very easy to root for.  If we had to have a bad hockey player take the ice every night just in case the need arose to punch someone in the face shield, I'm glad it was Deslauriers.

I’ll take the L on this one. Well said. No one on this team will be punching anyones face/face shield anytime soon though. Don’t take it for Granted

Fowler, Gibson. Especially Gibson, ever since he signed his contract, he fell of the horse and never been the same. You may say anything you want, but that's my opinion.

You should change your username to “IhateGibson”. You and your opinions make no sense. This could be a thread about Dolphins and you’d blame the guy for not being able to hold his breath for an hour underwater.

I think some of those guys are too much - those are the A+ prospects that are probably untouchable.  I'm looking at the 3rd or 4th best prospect in most team's systems as an acquirable A prospect.  Someone whose floor is middle-6 or middle pairing, but whose ceiling doesn't reach superstar level.  Turcotte or Amirov seem about right, although I'm personally not super enamored with either one.

Amirov was just recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, so I doubt we would even ask. As for Robertson, I’d be in on that if they were willing. A 2nd rounder next year , and Robertson sounds great, but unlikely. I’d even take Holl as well.
