trade Rakell makes sense if he wants too much money at next contract. and now he is on fire and the price is higher.

its not that easy to make the rebuild. you don't want to go under like Buffalo a couple seasons ago or Detroit last season with +/- 20 points behind the 30th place. then you learn a losing culture and this is never good (look at Buffalo, what a roster and what a result). its not a good way for the kids. Gibson should stay unless he wants to get out or its coming in a fantastic offer for him or Dostal develop to a good NHLer.

Silf, Henrique, Manson could go out, BEFORE Seattle ED. so you can keep all your kids. take some 27-30 years old UFA's in the next 2 seasons with the cap space you would have after traded away the big contracts (players like Landeskog, Hamilton 2021, Barzal, Gaudreau or Forsberg in 2022) to not lose every game and go with it. maybe a goaltender in the UFA (Rask, Rinne, Anderson and then you can trade Gibson too). I think with trade away some players and sign some UFA's you can make your team better and the rebuild would no go too long...,

Trading Raks is a no go . Unless we get a kings ransom. Toronto is the only team I feel could give us something.... even then, it’s a big question mark. Gibson isn’t getting traded either unless it’s a kings ransom. It would seem that we are pretty stuck in terms of assets. Screw the picks, get us something that will work in 2 seasons.

Laine is an rfa this offseason, any chance we could try to make a move for him? Who knows, it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing in Columbus.

I’d rather have a go at someone else who can put pucks in the net as well as play sound defensively. Laine is an enigma. We’ve had enough puzzle pieces that never did fit.

If something doesn't change rather quickly, I can see Gibson asking for a trade. We hang him out to dry WAY too often, and the "retool" is a total F'd up mess. My only hope is that Bargain Basement has something really great up his sleeve for the offseason. Something like say, .....a blockbuster hockey trade or spending on a 1st class free agent.

I agree. Murray can’t use cap space as an excuse after this season. There’s nowhere to hide.

Will we even need to do this?

If we protect Silf, Rakell, Lundestrom, Steel, Jones, and two of Heinen, Milano and Terry - then we just need to expose one of them along with Henrique, Grant, Deslauries.

On defense protect Lindholm, Fowler, Mahura and expose Shattenkirk, Manson, Larsson.

Then we just hope that Seattle takes one of the old guys instead of Heinen/Milano/Terry. But if we were willing to lose assets to convince Seattle to take Henrique then why not just do it this way and lose only 1 player?

    Is Comtois exempt from ED?

I'm all for giving people a 2nd chance...people can change and should be allowed the opportunity to do so...Eakins is better now than he was in Edmonton...just looking at win %...and has zero #1 picks lol...BUT...even a better Eakins I wouldn't say is NHL caliber...

So you’re saying he deserves a chance ? I’d rather give players a chance. Like all of those guys down in SD . I’m sick of hearing on repeat that Eakins is the problem. We all know that. Threads just turn into “Eakins sucks.” We already know that. Let’s put our focus on ridding ourselves of the players who have had long looks and haven’t performed.
No one gets number one picks unless your team just blows . We blow , but it’s not like if Eakins had a number 1 pick he would have saved his job in Edmonton . Get rid of the deadweight. Rid ourselves of players who can’t get it done consistently. Give our AHL caliber coach a reason to be fired . Trade Em all and see if Eakins can get it done. Doubt it.

everyone just sounds like a broken record. No one in the coaching staff nor anyone named BM is getting fired this year.

I am not sure if I want Getzlaf to be extended. 1 goal in 18 games? And his agent probably wants at least $6 mil per season. No, it's time to move on. However, knowing our GM, I am not sure if he won't give him 5 years extension with NTC.

You can’t be serious. Getz is getting nowhere near that amount. He wants to retire In a Ducks sweater , and I could say that we all agree that he should. Getzlaf is a role player now, not a force to be reckoned with. His play has been fine.

The Ducks are on the verge to having literally no assets to show for moving Karlsson, Theodore, Palmieri, Pettersson or Vatanen lol. Extending Henrique when the Cup window was closed and they could have moved him to help move along the rebuild looks as bad as possible now. Fingers crossed for Silfverberg lol

The Samuelis/Murray are long overdue for explaining what the plan is with this team.

They’ve already did that a couple seasons ago. I like the Samuelis , but a statement from them to me is pretty much a wash. Fix the problems .

I’ve been unhappy with Rico’s play as well, advanced numbers actually say he’s been more unlucky then bad, which I’m not sure about, but losing a 30 goal scorer for nothing a few months before you’re losing a player for nothing in the expansion draft is peak Murray asset management. Samueli’s need to step in.

It’s makes sense (to BM) 🧐 Rico has played really bad though .. 22 shots In 16 games ? -8 overall? The only plus side is his face off percentage. I’d definitely Wish we could gain as one picks or a prospect for him , but his demotion is well warranted.

He  played for Eakins last season and still put points up on the board, but this year is a big question mark. Wonder if he’s hurt for getting benched ? Regardless he’s playing NOTICEABLY bad on a team full of people playing really sketchy hockey.

While this would be what I have been fearing over the last two seasons, I don't think there's anything to it. Interesting since there are also now "rumors" that Pittsburgh, which is Gibson's hometown and now with our former GM Burkie as President of Hockey Operations, might want to acquire him but that wouldn't make sense for either side lol.

Unless Gibson pulls a Dubois, he's not going anywhere anytime soon, imo.

I 100% agree that it is likely over-exaggerated. Just curious on what “smoke signals” means lol.

No. No one wants him for a reason. He has bounced from team to team more than anyone in the league over the last 3-4 years. We have too many guys in the bottom 6-9 the way it is. We need to move 2-3 fourth liners to bring in a second or even a first liner.

Trade someone on the depth chart  for a pick, swoop up Galchenyuk. It’s low risk/high reward. It’s not like he’s De Angelo and Kane with attitude problems. He got completely screwed playing in Montreal, played for the Coyotes (which I could argue are just as bad as us at our worst). Give him a chance?

    he is definitely a top 6 . You’re crazy

Again, there are right ways and wrong ways (and times) to say something.  If my boss tells me to do something and it doesn't work, I don't just get to say in a meeting in front of everyone, "See, a-hole?  You're a moron for thinking this will work." I would at least get written up for that and possibly fired.  Instead, I would call him to ask him for a meeting and tell him I want to talk to him about my concerns.

There is a ton of nuance to this particular situation that we're unaware of because we don't know exactly what was said or what prompted it.  But I don't think it's unreasonable to expect players to respect their coaches.

We are talking about Torts though. You can’t expect that a player won’t voice his opinion. How do you know that he said this in front of the entire squad? Do you think Dubois didn’t voice displeasure before the media caught hold of it ? Torts is the problem , not Laine. He is well known for his outdated style just as much as RC was known for is out of date systems and boys club attitude. If a player scores goals, they should be in the lineup. If the Jackets lost that game, there would be a whole different context surrounding it. Torts blows

Insane. He's been there 2 minutes and already mouthing off to the coaches.

The NHL is getting softer each season. If a coach like Torts gets mad that someone said something out of line.... He should watch the interviews he gives. It’s stupid that  a player can’t tell someone in the coaching staff that it isn’t working.. I wish someone on our team *cough Getzlaf* would show some passion in saying the current system isn’t working.

Seriously,  just look at Marty Wilford. Guy looks like he’s waiting for players to beat him up on the bench after a crappy PP. the guy hasn’t had success EVER.
im saying something if I’m a top player in the league. Tortarella is an a-hole , it must suck for star players to tell you that your system is incompetent.

After this debacle tonight it's time to shake things up. GMBM needs to go. Eakins needs to go (another terrible coaching hire). And the players. Do the Ducks even have any that want to play. I'd trade Rakell in a heartbeat while he has any value left. We keep waiting for this bounce back year but it's never going to come. Henrique has looked awful. Silfverberg has looked lost. And the PP. Yikes. I thought they worked on this with their extra camp. Must have just worked on how to get worse. And every 4th line guy can go. All useless. No need for any of them. Shattenkirk was a wasted signing.

Rakell, Henrique, Silf, Deslauries, Grant, Rowney, Backes, Shattenkirk, even Fowler can all be traded. Keep the young guys and bring up more. I'd rather watch the Ducks lose with promising prospects then the vets that have looked awful all year.

Sadly there are guys like Mete and even Sam Bennett looking for opportunities elsewhere. I'd rather see Bennett over Henrique and more so Grant at this stage.

    BRING UP ZEGRAS!!!

Just stop. We all knew this season would be rough. No one will take on the contracts, we’re stuck with what we have . Murray is losing it though.

He also recently signed Jack Johnson to a multi-year, multi-million deal.  I'll pass on that.  I'd also rather look for someone younger and more analytically savvy.

Rather go the John Chayka route huh? I’m not a Rutherford guy, but it’s not like hiring a head coach . Every situation is different when a GM gets to re-tool or blow up a roster. Anything at this point is better than Murray.
