  1. The Vancouver Canucks announced on Sunday that forward Jake Virtanen has been placed on unconditonal waivers for the purpose of a buyout.

Could be a cheap solid 3rd  or 4th line depth player.  We tried to get him once before but wouldn't pay his entire salary.  Now we wouldn't have to.

I like the idea of an inexpensive signing here

The Reinhart deal was for a 2022 first round pick unless it was a top 10 pick. If it is a top 10 then Buffalo gets the 2023 pick. If Columbus is willing to give up Jones why not Laine? Maybe it takes a little more but....oh wait, it's Murray.

BM doesnt have the bawls or skill to craft a trade of magnitude.  He is so on the edge of losing his job he wont take the chance.  Which is precisely why he will eventually lose his job....Yellow stripe on this jersey

Music to your ears? That´s basically BM saying he´s been screwing things up the last couple of years. Oh the NHL is getting faster. Let´s get Carl Hagelin and everything will be solved.

Our old identity? Good Lucky finding prime Getzlaf, healthy Kesler, healthy Manson and tough as nails Cogliano. Because that´s what we where. A good combination of size, strenght, skill and heart. I really don´t see that in our current group.

Of course BM isn´t interested in free agency. He probably wants to wait till everybody has signed to get a feel of the market. Why bother creating cap space in the first place then?

Can´t wait to see we´ve traded Grant again. Probably for Gudbransson or Peterson.

I really don´t want Eichel. For that I applaud BM because I´m pretty sure there´s been talks and that buffalo is asking for a king´s ransom. But I would have loved to take my chances on Jake Bean for a 2nd or Reinhart for a goalie prospect and a pick.

I wouldn´t be surprised to read something in the coming days that there was a move lined up that fell through in the last second because of a bogus reason.

    End rant.

Exactly....He blows more smoke and the amazing part is upper management and ownership buy it?  Henry Samueli is super smart in his field but not to strong on common sense.  Common sense isn't common.

  4. Bob is twisting the reality to suit his desired perception (Are the fans really gullible???).  The reality is the Ducks wont do much in the FA market because the market will reject the Ducks.  With all the choices the FA players have, why would you go to a team that is still 2-3 years from competing?  Nobody with a brain would unless its a straight over payment (which Bob is an expert in).  In addition the reason we have not had success in trading is Bob over valued players paid them to much and now is unable to trade them for reasonable value.  Please tell me we are collectively smarter than Bob!

super, super judgmental for a 41 game career, and ignores the coaching changes that've happened in the past 2 months.

He is slow on his first three steps.  He cant  get out of his way.  If you dont know that you have not watched him play enough.  a defender that losses his first three steps to a talented forward is an instant liability,.

True but they are also a playoff team looking to shed salary while the Ducks are dead last in the Western Conference. Rico's contract isn't hampering the Ducks unless a big move is in the works.

    Obviously

If the Ducks retain some of Rico's contract then Seattle basically gets 2 for 1. Seattle needs minor league players as well so they could get Rico at a good price and a minor league player. that's already signed. Or we could be over speculating and Seattle just takes Fleury.

Look what the Islanders paid to get rid of Ladds contract

If Volkov was signed to satisfy the forward requirement (27/54 games + under contract) it would have to be because Bob is leaving at least one of Steel or Jones unprotected and is protecting three of Rico, Silf, Grant, and Deslauriers. Otherwise, this is just another RFA signing, unrelated to the ED.

Even with most of us thinking the Ducks do something a little different here and there...it sounds like most of us think Seattle is taking Mahura...which does remind me of what some said where grabbing Fleury might have been a way to tempt Francis in going after him to protect Mahura...

Mahura WOULD be good in the right system...but is that ever going to happen on the Ducks?

Also, rumor is Max Domi will be exposed...William Karlsson 2.0? lol

He has cement boots......If the right system includes Dallas Stars U15 AA team

there's no question mark.  Shatt said at the beginning of his Ducks tenure that he was prepared to be exposed in the ED, and that it was part of their discussion in him coming across.  if BM protects him, it would only be because he already has a deal in place with Seattle that makes all protections superfluous (but are dolled out as a sign of respect or to save face for a questionable acquisition).

i have to keep being reminded that MaxC is exempt from the draft.

i know it goes against all BM-logic, but i still like protecting Mahura over Manson.

question - if we don't have to protect Getz because he isn't signed yet, and that situation makes it too difficult for Seattle to grab him, why doesn't that logic also work with all the other unsigned players?  Lundestrom, Volkov, Heinen, Rowney, SS, MaxJ are all unsigned according to capfriendly (though it also still shows Backes on our roster).

if all those players are effectively protected, then yeah, might as well protect 5 d men (and both of the Joshes).

Agree with everything you said except Mahura.  His first three steps is so slow he is a liability.  Might be a combination of reaction time and or  first 3 steps but he get skated around far to often imho

  10. Not sure if we could get him because of same Div but for the right price could be a good add.  Has a high motor and could be a good second liner.  I also think he was used poorly in AZ this last season.  I live in AZ and watched a ton of games.  He has more to offer then what AZ get get out of him.

Personally I think Plan B is draft well and continue on course. Also I haven’t seen anything that we’re out, just that we’re not giving Buffalo what they want, so Murray is being smart, not budging on Z and Drysdale. I really think a lot of it is Eichel’s medical situation. I’m sure the Ducks are saying, “I’m not giving you what you’re asking for if he’s in a neck brace.”

im not seeing much the Ducks can do this offseason. Eichel is kind of the big thing, I don’t see us being in on Jones, nor do I think we should be. I was thinking we should sign Danault this offseason, but he’s played himself into a massive overpayment this offseason. Some interesting 27-28 year old blue liners. Murray, Oleksiak, Reilly. I’m not sure, if you don’t land Eichel, I think you should be looking to move Manson/Rakell/Silfverberg/Henrique for futures.

    Bingo  Right on target

  12. 4 hours ago, Fisix said:

That’s next season. He’s still playing in the 2020-21 season. Though, from capfriendly, the cost to us salary wise this year was also $2M.

Obviously but why would I be concerned about a year that is past (Financially) for the Ducks  Looking ahead

You’re going on and on about this injury like the dude snapped his neck in half. Eichel is a TOP TIER athlete and he’s young. Look at when McDavid broke his leg and it was literally a career threatening injury that he had a new type of surgery on. Have some damn faith. Chances are it doesn’t even happen anyway. And if it does , being bitter about it isn’t going to change anything. If we get Eichel , there isn’t any way anyone should be upset about it. Chances are he’s going to be fine.

And you are a Doctor and you studied where?  BS  Wake up.  If you throw assets around like you talk, Ill bet you have none.

Expensive and perhaps Kings ransom.......IF you ask there are Pros and Cons IF our Ducks decide to pull off a Trade to Get Jack.

Moose why in the world would you trade top assets for a guy with a herniated disk in his neck?  Foolish move the team cant afford to chance
