So we're actually better on the PP and still dogcrap on the PK? Haha, all the Fire Brown posts just took a huge hit...

Not really though, the team's just bad. We are actually worse on faceoffs and this is a major target for improvement. I really want the Ducks to become a PUCK POSSESSION team and that means winning more faceoffs than the opposition and then not giving the puck up either throuh crisp precise passes or shrewd physical play. Either way I want them to start playing more keep away and less chase and reach - that will cut down on the penalties, too.

It is time to get someone who can run a PK and a PP. we need a change. Look at the team that wins their special team is not a liability.

BS.  Every team HAS TO go through losing phases between winning ones.  Fans are "ok" with it (a loaded term) because they have the information and knowledge about where we are headed.

That was probably the worst gatekeeping attempt I've ever seen here.  You don't have to be miserable to be a fan. That's on you.

Yes, every team does go for the losing streak, the Duck team has been loosing for seven years, It should not take that long. You can retool of a complete rebuild with the high draft picks we had.

Never said I was ok with a losing team, a very different thing.

What I’m not onboard with incoherent ramblings from clowns masquerading as “fans” who clearly have very little depth of understanding of the game and throw out $hit like “Osama Verbeek”… just juvenile crap.

I am sorry you are so PV-sensitive. Varbick could have done much to help the team make the playoffs this season, but he chose not to. I debate hockey with you anytime, anywhere, anyplace.

I was saying that PV was unsuccessful as a player and that I do not see him as a GM. I believe that a guy like Brian Burke would have done a better job than him.

Here's my $.02 - which has an actual value of much less:

    1.  The old saying about GM's is that if they listen to fans they are soon sitting with them.

    2.  GMPV could have - possibly, not undoubtably - made a bigger splash last offseason, but I think the addition of Killorn and Gudas and Lyubushkin were fine.  C+, probably a B- if more guys (Drysdale, Zegras, Terry) had pulled their weight early on.  So, he could have shown us more of "who he really is" as a GM last summer, but I'm not all put out that he did not.  This summer?  He better kill it.  Top 6 W, Top 4 RHD, a coach to build a deadly PP.

    3.  I don't expect any GM to be 100% honest and truthful with the media/public/fans at an event like this, an event that is easily viewable by anyone with an internet connection.  Why would you show all your cards to your competitors?  I'm gonna give him a pass on not laying out his complete plan with all his moves and details at this event.  That would be odd.

    4.  I think, from what he has said, his general plan thru this season was to retain and compile assets and prospects, and he has 100% done that.  His only significant move was to trade a kid from depth to get a kid for need, and that was a very good move, imo.  Now, he appears to have the goods and the mindset to start using those assets, both picks and prospects - and NHL roster players, if the deal is good -, to get better at the NHL level, meaning acquiring NHL-proven players.  Again, this summer is make-or-break for him, imo.

The failed GM also said it is OK to lose games with that mentality, the Ducks going nowhere and No one will sign for a losing team. Signing Killorn at 34 years old does not bring wins, he takes more penalties than Labushkin did.

He needs to do his job, currently his report card is F as a GM.

Shot on goal, scoring, PP, PK, willing to win all in the bottom 5 in the league.

Maybe. I think I'd agree that they can be very effective with younger guys when they first come in with a young team, but their time span as coaches with a team seem pretty short, 2-3 years for some reason. It's like the players just stop listening when things aren't going well - although maybe that's just a fact for all NHL coaches now. Julien has already been with three teams. DeBoer has been with five teams. Laviolette is now on his 6th team. I guess a re-tread could work knowing that the time span might be short, BUT getting to playoff hockey again would be worth it.

Is there another Jon Cooper out there???

First fire the GM than we can talk coach.

I wonder if someone from Samuili's family watching this team on TV once in a while. Not necessary Henry himself, he is a busy man, but maybe his son, nephew or someone else close to his family. I wonder if some of them would say "Dad (uncle) this team is regressing from year to year, and this is YOUR team. Are you going to do something about it?

Samuili family has many businesses that generate cash flow. The Anaheim Duck team is the write-off. Face it, we will never have a proper team. We trade good players. We keep the mediocre ones. We hire incompetent GMs and coaching staff. Everyone wants to win but only the angry ones and the committed ones win. we are neither of the two.

You will hear on APR 16 from Osama Verbeek that he will do his job and look for talent in the free agency market every year, and nothing will happen.

Osama Verbeek has not done anything positive for the Ducks team so far. I think we need to go after Arron's Job for not firing the loser General Manager sooner.

It is emberessing to have a bunch of Executives, coaches, and players with 0 ZERO integrity for the logo on the front of the jersey. They are NOT committed to winning ownership does not care. The executive hired an individual who said, "It is ok to lose games." An individual who has failed as a hockey player, Osama Verbick, was not a star on the ice. He does not understand hockey.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE A LOSING TEAM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE AS LONG AS WE DO NOT HAVE A PROPER GUY DRIVING THE BUS.

It is not proving his critics wrong. It is doing its job! What a concept, ha!

That would be something to watch!

Let's be honest, for those who had been a Duck fan, it is the same story at the end of the season. The GM Osama Vabeek will tell us the same story we hear every year." We will be competitive on the free market, and we will sign our draft picks” and then comes training camp the wheels are falling off.

Face it, The Ducks' ownership does not make money by owning a hockey team that looses. The Samuaelies have other businesses that they make money on, the Ducks team is writing off for the taxes, and we the fans are the one suffering. Ask yourself why in 30 years we never had the draft or the All-Star Game in Anaheim? There are plenty of hotels around. THEY DON'T CARE!

I know that I am not wrong, I have to understand that the team I support will never be a big factor in the NHL.

At the TDL, you’re getting picks, prospects and/or players as part of a cap dump. So, you’re pretty much getting future assets that can also be used to bring in immediate help during the offseason.

The Ducks don’t have premier UFAs or RFAs to help land a blue chip prospect like forsberg was either imo.

Number 14 Rico if you know how to negotiate

Silfverberg is gone after this season, Johnston can be put on waivers or buried in the minors. McGinn is fine as a 4th liner with one more year on his contract. These aren’t anchors that the Ducks are tied to. Henrique and Lybushkin are both gone by the trade deadline also imo.

Fowler pretty much gets to determine if he gets traded or not due to his limited NTC and you’re not going to hand over his minutes to anyone currently on the blueline. Your anger about him should be channeled at Murray. Dostal is getting more playing time which is great but you’re not trading Gibson unless he refuses to play/causing problems in the locker room or another team makes it worthwhile. I know you want everyone that makes over $1 mil gone yesterday and you’re going to get what you want in short order. Outside of probably Strome, all the players you listed are almost certainly not going to be Ducks within the next two seasons

We know that some players will be traded by the trade deadline, the question is what kind of player are we getting back in return. If you can get a trade done like the predators got from the Capitals (Foresburg) come on aboard if you get a bag of pucks + a big salary, It is better to leave it.

I was gonna start a 2024-25 thread, but thought it might be too early.  Kinda sick about talking about this season, as it has sucked.

Anyway, way too early lineup projections - my wishes, not reality (and lines/pairings not set in stone):

Zegras-Carlsson-UFA (Stamkos, Geuntzel, Toffoli, Arvidsson, Marchessault, Teravainen)

    Gauthier-McTavish-Terry

    Killorn-Strome-Vatrano

    McGinn-Lundestrom-Leason

    Jones-Groulx

Mintyukov-UFA (maybe you get one of these guy's rights in a Fowler trade?) (Pesce, Zadorov, Montour, Matt Roy, Sean Walker, Dumba, Edmundson, DeMelo)

    LaCombe-Gudas

    Zellweger-Luneau

    Vaakanainen-Lindstrom

    Dostal

    Gibson

They will have $35 mil in cap space, with Lundestrom, Groulx, Leason, LaCombe, Vaakanianen, Lindstrom, and Jones as RFA's.

Planning lines when we do not know who will be on the roster is premature. Even if you are the coach, the lines need to make sense. Pat Verbeek is a control freak, that is the reason 91 play two games a week. Gauthier can go back to Boston for another year, he has until 2026.

Think about it, No quality player will sign with Anaheim at the rate this team is going, Yes, we endured injuries, we do not have a backbone. We have young raw talent that will be ready in 3-4 years, maybe. We will not be a playoff team for two years and not a Cup contender for five.

I do not believe that Zegras, Strome, Vatrano Labushkin will be on the team next year. Z will move because he does not fit the blueprint, Strome, Vatrano and Labushkin are great trade bate at the upcoming deadline.

We are far far far away from being a caliber team.

For all the talk about Verbeek not making big trades. He took a massive swing here with a potentially huge payoff

Don't get ahead of yourself, we are not a playoffs team until 26-27 season. There is a lot of work to be done. We have no defense unless Goudas can play 60 min.

right!?  what the frak are we doing trading Jamie for a guy who is already refusing to sign with the Flyers?!

this feels worse than the Theo trade, but right NOW, up FRONT.

i am stunned.  it's going to take a while for me to feel even sort of ok with this, and that's only IF it works out not bad for us.  i get that we've been sitting some good Defensive players/prospects for a few games, but what the heck?

i even understand that someone in the D prospect group was going to get moved for forward(s)... but sheesh.  this feels like trading an actual Niedermeyer.

well... Beek finally made a move that will define his tenure as a GM.

What make you think that Gauthier will sign with Anaheim? Unless he signed already.

Just because it is sunny outside, it does not mean it is summer.

With a record of 2-12 in the last 14 the leafs and jets are coming to town make it 2-14 in 16 at home, our team is the @NHL joke!

The coach does not have the room, the players do not respect him. We cannot blame the injuries or the jerseys anymore. Our incompetent General Manager does not take responsibility and address this painful situation. Why is he there?

@AaronTeats needs to wake up and pull the trigger, fire @PatVerbeek and the coach. We have seen it time and again, the team turnaround. We are not a playoff team, but we are not better than last year, we are going backward.

I wish you all Mighty Ducks family a Happy New Year with a new GM, new coach and a competitive team.

Ya we seen mixed reviews on Z lately. But this helps a lot. He is still very young, good, rich, good looking kid. There is going to be some cockiness and swagger that crosses the line sometimes. But maybe a couple more years of maturing will fix that.

Z is not that good! 2 goals in 13 games for all the noise, poster boy should have 8 goals in 13 games minimum.

    Silayev 6' 7" LHD

    Dickinson 6' 3" LHD

    Levshunov 6' 2" RHD

The three best defensemen in this draft and all probably go in the top 10. That said, Mintyukov is better than all three of them and I would also say Drysdale as well. Heck I'll even throw Luneau in there and he was the 53rd pick in '22. I would say Silayev is the most intriguing because of his size and probably worth the 4th of 5th spot in the draft. If Verbeek were to pick the other two in the top, he isn't picking BPA. I could stomach Silayev though. But he would be a project and I don't want to use a top pick on a project.

Colorado won a cup with two sub six foot defensemen. If Cronin's defense is going to be high pressure man to man, he needs guys that can do that. There's going to be a size limit to that because bigger guys aren't going to be able to keep up. Drysdale and Zellweger to me seem to be the guys that fit in with what Cronin wants and needs but if Verbeek wants physical and imposing, he picked the wrong coach imo.

We need someone who can score a goal we are packed on the D maybe not a twin tower, but someone needs to net a goal or two to win a game.

The Ducks team threw in the towel long ago when the GM said, "I don't care if we win." If anyone thought we would make the playoffs, you fool yourself.

Defense is not all there. We need experience, and when you have five out of your six players in their first or second NHL season, you have no defense. You have potential for the future, but that is it.

Offense, what offense everyone plays for themself and not as a team. We got our injured boys back. We got a Michigan but not Cigar. We lost both games. You can spin it any way you want. We have not been competitive in ten years. And no playoffs in five.

PV was a bafoon as a player, and he is NOT going to be the one to take us to the winning circle. Unfortunately, we, the fans, are the ones paying literally.

I wish someone at the Anaheim Ducks organization cared about winning as much as the fans do.

But just because you draft high doesn't mean you have the foundation of a great future team and won't suck or at worst be stuck in mediocrity. The question is if those players are going to be good enough eventually along with who ever our pick is this year.

If you think any of those guys aren't going to be key parts of the Ducks future, then you'd have to look into trading them which I don't think we're at yet. They are all 22 years old and younger.

We are all aware of the stats. No fact check is needed. I don't understand why we can not go and get someone like Phil Kessel, give him $2M. He is sitting on the sideline. He can score goals, bring leadership, push the morale up.

It can't hurt we are at 1-14 and counting by Monday night, we will be 1-16.
