  1. Personally, I donā€™t want to see him back. Keep him away from this terrible coaching staff. this is with the obvious caveat that this doesnā€™t mean I donā€™t want him to be healthy sooner. Just donā€™t want him to be ruined with a bad or lack of system.
  2. Is it an overpay to ask for a 2023 first and Puljivarji? I would guess, yes. 2023 2nd?
  3. Eakins is the antithesis to people like Scotty and Perry. Where Scotty and Perry have basically won everything you can win, Eakins seems to be making an attempt to hold as many ā€œnhl worstā€ records as possible. He already has the worst power play in NHL history under his belt. 1 regulation win in 30 games has to be some sort of record. And I am sure there are others.
  4. I believe thereā€™sa certain time of day each day where a team needs to meet being Cap compliant. Itā€™s in the afternoon, so I think that means we can be above the max in the morning as long as we do something before the day is up to get us back to 23.
  5. I think Verbeek wants Fantilli. I donā€™t think he would pass up Bedard, but I think deep down he wants Fantilli. I also think he would pick Carlssson over Michkov if he has a choice. I think this puts us in a really good spot as long as we donā€™t end up better than 2nd from last!
  6. I guess I can create a new thread for him. But just saw he is centering the #1 line for the wild with Kaprizov and Zuccarello. Crazy. Also they have a 3rd line of Reaves, Erikson-Ek, Foligno which looks like a very, very, very physical line!
  7. Yes it was the planā€¦But sometimes people like the idea of something, then when it happens, they donā€™t like it at all. Not saying anyone in particular here, just a general observation of society. I feel the most bad for players like Fowler and Gibson. They are talented, good players, who look bad due to situations and usage and coaching. I donā€™t think that really changes how players/GMs in the know look at them, but it certainly shades fans perspectives despite how much it was always the plan šŸ˜• but also Fowler deserves to play on a better team.
  8. Oh I see. Yeah that does make sense. Going straight tk the bench is an interesting idea. And I agree. We need less of all this review stuff! Statuette of limitations on how long after a play it can be eligible to be reviewedā€¦and also how long a review can go for. If itā€™s inconclusive after 3 min of review, itā€™s not overturned. If itā€™s been 30 seconds after a play, it is no longer eligible to be reviewed. There. You guys. I solved hockey. šŸ˜›
  9. Or like the 5 for fighting rule where you canā€™t rejoin till after play stops. Iā€™m actually shocked itā€™s not the same for a match penalty.
  10. Ah. Thatā€™s a fair distinction to make. I see what youā€™re saying. And I think makes more of a case to why we canā€™t lose Fowler. I know some have soured on him over the years, and heā€™s having a terrible season. But heā€™s the only guy who would make sense to be able to mentor these new offensive defensemen coming in.
  11. That's interesting about specifying offensive defensemen...I mean, that's my point. They should stay in juniors longer. At this rate, OZ will have his full NHL season at the age of 20, which is still older than Fowler, Drysdale, and Lindholm. But I see what you are saying about Minty. If he's ready, he's ready. Even if he's killing it, I still think he doesn't get a full season till after next season, which would also make him 20. But he probably gets some games in.
  12. Yeah, I guess I don't know enough around the league to see how the younger D men are doing (besides someone like Power who was a #1 OA and certainly an exception). But I look at having Fowler at an early age begin his career and everyone criticized it and continues to do so, and now it's already happening with Drysdale. Where as Vatanen, Lindholm, Manson, Montour, Theodore didn't hit their first full regular season till 23, 19, 23, 21, 23 respectively. So, Lindholm is the odd one out and is also a high pick, so maybe there is a good chance we see Minty next season.
  13. Strome can be moved ANYWHERE. He should have the absolute lower priority of where he plays when compared to Zebras, McTavish, or Fantilli (or other top-3 pick at C). But even so, any player can be moved to wing. I think Zebras could make the most sense, he's a good distributor, but so is Terry and he's doing great at wing. If we get Bedard though, I think we have 3 years till we end up trading Zebras or McTavish or maybe Tory Terry or someone in some blockbuster trade. If they all pan out to their ceiling, we will have so much money tied up in them, it might make more sense to do that and get something great to fill a spot that we are lacking in at the time. What a great problem that would be to have. -- oh whoops!! My autocorrect change Zegras to Zebras. That's pretty funny. I'm going to keep it for the humor, but acknowledging I noticed it
  14. Iā€™m all for this. Cam deserves better. but we need to curb how soon we can expect Drysdale, OZ, and Minty to be regulars and effective in the line up with the NHL club. Defensemen take longer to develop, and they should. To get rid of Cam and hope one of these takes his role once gone is setting the bar way too high and the wonā€™t be able to meet it. I donā€™t expect to see Minty as a regular till about 3 or 4 seasons from now (maybe starts getting NHL games 2 seasons from now). Drysdale is already (obviously), but still so young. And OZ I think is ready for next season (but will also be a rookie still and have some growing pains).
  15. I think he goes 2OA and so unlikely we will be able to get him (as that is a lottery pick, too, and we wonā€™t win either lottery). But I think GMs are going to sour a little bit on Michkov and he drops to whatever spot we are picking. Fantilli would be sick to get! Although if we are picking 2 OA I wouldnā€™t put it past Pat to pick Michkov. . ā€¦ put it past Pat to pickā€¦ šŸ˜
  16. I donā€™t know if keeping Eakins is as bad of a message in the locker room as it is to the fans. For example, Terry seems to love Dallas. Sacking Eakins could be sending a different message to a player like Terry. Just a thought. Not defending keeping Eakins, also want him gone asap. But that could have an impact on Troy and maybe other young guys.
  17. Eakins has had 3 years to turn it around. One more month wonā€™t do anything. He doesnā€™t seem interested in changing his ways.
  18. That Ottawa team was atrocious and looked an absolute disaster of a team 5 years ago. If we want to use them as an example, they are entering the 6th year of their ā€œrebuildā€ and looking competitive. They likely will be a bubble team this year and really start pushing contention next year. We are basically a year behind them. Entering our 5th year of mediocrity, could push to be a playoff bubble next year, and begin our real contention of a playoff team the year after that, 24/25
  19. Completely agree this is an accurate timeline and process. but I think itā€™s a bit unfair to say wild bill and palmieri didnā€™t develop well under GMBM. Both showed promise and then were shipped out for trades (one terrible trade, and another that basically got us Perron and Mcginn). I think if they stayed in Anaheim they would have flourished fine. but D on the other handā€¦.I mean, thereā€™s a good case to say Shea didnā€™t develop right under GMBM and the same for Cam, Larsson, Mahuraā€¦ could we add Vats and Montour? I dunnoā€¦probably not, they looked legit lol
  20. I'm also all for this decision. But I really just want to see as many of our young guys away from this coaching staff as much as possible. (not through injury though, much rather have them in the line up than injured) Sounds like OZ really could turn into something special and we really need to be careful with how he gets developed.
  21. oof, really? oh boy....I hope that can be remedied if it is indeed true. I also hope that's not the case. He's still learning...maybe he didn't realize how much training he's gotta do in the off-season.
  22. I didnā€™t have a chance to watch, but it sounds like Drysdale is suffering from over thinking from a lack of quality coaching and thus starts his dissent into not meeting expectations. Of course I say that in jest as he is like 20 and a D and is one game in the preseason. But I am not surprised that after a full year of this coaching staff he comes back looking confused. OZ hasnā€™t had them for very longā€¦he hasnā€™t had to completely take his instincts and shove them deep down into the bottom of his soul to make room for a lack of defensive structure that fights every instinct he has. But OZ is young and will be open to learning from this coaching staff just like Drysdale did. šŸ˜• Iā€™m just saying I remember Drysdale looking amazing and promising early on and then he got a full year with Eakins. Maybe Iā€™m being too harsh on Eakins. Just really worried what damage having him another year will do to our young guysā€™ futures.
  23. awesome!! that's a great sign that Hinds signed!
  24. No! Youā€™ve got to be kidding meā€¦. Noooooooo
  25. Oh wow, I just saw that Fleury is only 32 wins away from passing Roy on the all-time wins list and being 2nd OA. That's insane! He could do it, too. Unlikely he catches Marty But man...those french canadian goalies...
