  1. There are rumors that Edmonton is interested in signing him.  They've won 12 in a row, and I'm sure if he has a shot at playing for a team that doesn't s&*k, the Ducks wouldn't be of any interest to him.

  2. Assuming he intends to retire at the end of season, Ducks should offer him $1M to play it out.

Would certainly help them sell some tickets, and allow him to more or less legitimately retire as a Duck.

It’s because you post about not rushing him back is asinine.   I trust the medical staff and the team that was using load management not to rush the most important draft pick maybe ever in our existence.   All the things you said are the reason why I’m not worried about him playing when healthy.   The team is being cautious with him.   No point not to play a healthy 18 year old because it’s a lost season, over the fear of injury. I just trust our team (who have already shown to be overly cautious.   NOT to be in danger of rushing him back.

Your comment basically was saying I don’t trust our organization to do the best thing for the future.   And I think GMPV has shown he’s doing everything to not jeopardize our future.

Also I was drunk and angry and your comment, because the reasons above.

Your first 2 posts and you're already accusing long time posters of being 12 years old and calling their comments asinine.  Perhaps you should at least wait until you are in the double digits of posts #'s before going after veterans of this message board.

We did the load management thing, now are we rushing him back from injury? I'm concerned the timeline for the injury is 4 to 6 weeks and he'll be back in 3. If rather him get fully healed and just to make sure another week than get him in games asap.

The last thing the Ducks do is rush a player back from injury.  I'm sure if the doctors have cleared him for contact practice, he's about ready to return.  It's not like he's going to change the fact that this season is essentially a bust anyways.  Especially with Zegras & Mintyukov out for 4-6 weeks, although hopefully those are liberal estimates as well.

Yep, a 10-game win streak would get us back to just below .500 while a 12-game one will take us above, and then we can fish for the WC spots. It's doable still. At least I'm sincerely hoping for it.

Chicago or SJ are winning the lottery don't dream about it. The NHL is going to gift-wrap it for them, we are not going lower thant 30th - the two other teams are just that bad. So it makes sense to set WC2 as the golden target this year, even if realistically unreachable, but at least try our beest to get there. The promising kids needs to see some wins - Z, Drys, Minty, Carl and the crew can't be subjected to that lot of losing.

A 10-game win streak?  This team is not even capable of a 3-game win streak.  We're not going to get within 25 points of a Wild Card spot.

  6. Let's be honest here.  When it comes down to it, the coach is largely irrelevant in how well a team is playing.

There's only so much a coach can do.  You can put a great coach on a team, but if the players are awful, those are the results you'll get.

The Ducks' Stanley Cup team was coached by Randy Carlyle.  Does that make him the best coach in Ducks/Mighty Ducks history?  Did he have some sort of a great "system?"  Or did it have more to do with the fact he had Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger, Teemu Selanne & J.S. Giguere on the ice, along with a great supporting cast?  I dare say that if we had those players now, Cronin would likely have a far better record to show for his efforts.

What we have is a coach who is not going to make lousy to mediocre players perform any better, and vice versa.

  7. I failed to mention that Vatrano was almost single handedly responsible for the fact we even have the # of points we do.  He was on fire during October and into early November, but has gone ice cold the last 4-6 weeks.  So let's give him an A+ for the first half of our 33 games, and a C for the 2nd half.  You can put him in the hot/cold category for sure, but since he was blazing hot for part of that, I don't think you can blame him for the Ducks' overall failings thus far.  It's not like he was ever expected to be our #1 goal scorer.

The problem is more than 50% of the roster has been at best, mediocre.  And at worst, downright liabilities.  Maybe 2 of our Defensemen have been consistently good, and one of those is 20 year old Mintyukov, and he shouldn't be expected to be our best Defenseman.

He’s so logical that he can’t read into subtext and context clues that people were just reacting  in the moment to a brutal looking injury and expressing frustration and concern and not “diagnosing” his injury

A fair # of people were expressing hope that it wasn't going to turn out as bad as it looked.  The fact that the spin now is that being out 4-6 weeks is great news, should tell you all you need to know about many people's fear that it it just as easily could have been 2 or 3 times worse.

  9. Another side note.  We're on pace to finish with exactly 60 points.  Which just happens to be 2 points more than last season.  I'm sorry, but I would not call a 3% point total improvement, to be anything to get excited about.  I wasn't expecting the playoffs, but I was expecting more than 3%, so it's Extremely disappointing.  You can spread the blame around quite easily, but there are little more than a handful who you can point to that are pretty much blameless.

  10. Ducks have now played 33 games out of a total 82 game schedule.  That's 40%.

If one assumes that it will take 93 points to make the playoffs, a team would probably need 93 x 40%, or 37 points, to be on pace to have a shot.  As it turns out, the 8th place team in the Western Conference, is Arizona, with 36 points.  Ducks sit at 24, and the playoffs are out of reach.  Not that anybody, except for perhaps during a 2 week stretch, ever anticipated a realistic possibility of making the playoffs.

You can't fault the goaltending.  Gibson has, for the most part, performed well.  And Dostal has been decent.  I don't think you can put the blame for many of the 21 losses directly on them.

Carlsson, McTavish and Mintyukov, have been the standout players so far.  We've now lost one of them until February.  The veterans, on the other hand, have stunk it up.  Killorn was out with an injury for a lot of the season, so I'm not going to be too harsh on criticism for him.  But that said, he hasn't done anything to impress since recovering from his injury.  He's our big free agent signing, something we always manage to screw up, and so far, he's looking like another potential bust.

The other veterans have been their at best, hot and cold selves.  But that's nothing new, since none of them ever played like they were capable of providing the backbone for a team with potential to win the Cup.

Terry has been a HUGE disappointment.  Another one of the highest paid players, who we're throwing away money at.  And here I, as well as others on this board, were throwing his name around as the prime candidate for becoming Captain, sooner rather than later.  That ship seems to have sailed for at least the time being.

We're 25 points behind the #1 team in the league, and 3 points ahead of the 32nd place team.  We're 12 points off the pace for the 8th playoff spot, a gap that's more likely to grow than shrink.  We'll see if Zegras, Drysdale & McTavish can bring some life to the team, but even if they do, with a lackluster supporting cast, we're really screwed for the next 3 1/2 months.

People weren’t nervous. People immediately were saying he was done for the year.

When did I claim I was “cool headed”? I just was waiting to see what the injury was. How is that “make believe”?

Your emotions are running away with your logic. Again.

He very well could have been done for the year.  That was a distinct possibility.  And none of the "amateur orthopedic doctors" knew how bad it actually was.  People were just speculating.  I'm sure people high up in the Ducks organization were also speculating.  The Ducks announcers were expressing significant concern on the post game show.  It's not like anybody knew for sure what the damage was until the professionals did a full examination of his injury.  That's what they get paid for.

The fact remains.  It could have just as easily been a 12-16 week, season ending injury, as a 4-6 week one, which is no cake walk either.  I don't recall seeing anyone who insisted that he was definitely done for the season.  Perhaps I just didn't see those posts, but to say that theory or opinion was a stretch, is ridiculous.  Watching the replay of the play, was pretty scary.  It's a lucky thing that it didn't turn out to be worse.  We have a right to be concerned and worried, given Carlsson has been one of the few bright spots this season, and is absolutely a player that fans were excited to see on the ice this season.  6 weeks is going to feel like an eternity, and the Ducks are going to miss his presence.

  12. Those of you wondering why there wasn't a penalty called, obviously haven't been watching many Ducks games this season, or any season for that matter.  I counted at least 2-3 times last night where the Ducks announcers were going off on the officiating, and they've already done it several times this season.  Usually they'll make a comment here and there, but this season I think they've finally realized after 30 seasons, that the Ducks usually get shafted by the refs.

With the All Star break roughly 6 weeks away, and based on what Sexlaf15 just said, and the fact the Ducks always seem to go by the longest possible time frame before allowing a player to return, I expect we won't see Carlsson until after the break.  Perhaps around mid-February.

Ok not to get into the drama but its only matter of time before Dostal gets more starts then Gibson.

I don't see that, unless Gibson gets injured.  The Ducks would trade him before that happened.

  14. I just feel that unless the truth is known, Perry’s playing days are over.  That’s sad, but if he prefers it, to having the truth out there, I guess it’s his choice.  I suppose if it remains a secret, it won’t impact his getting into the HOF, or the Ducks retiring his #.

Gads, it's back to the wild speculation again.  Almost as bad as TMZ!  🤢

In the absence of facts, all you have is speculation.  It's only because he was a hero here in Anaheim, who is/was likely going to have his # retired.  Otherwise, I doubt anyone here would care quite a much.  He is/was a pretty sure fire 1st ballot Hall Of Famer.

If either Perry or the Blackhawks wanted to clear the air, and stop 90%+ of the speculation, they'd tell the truth about what happened.  They know, again....because he's a future Hall Of Famer, that people are interested.  Apparently the truth is so horrendous, that they'd rather let people speculate, and throw out theories, in an effort to learn the truth.  Each day that passes, it's less likely we'll ever know what that truth is.

  16. While I think it's kind of ridiculous, I also think it's funny that in the absence of a definitive statement as to what happened, people are making their own stuff up.  Serves Perry and the Blackhawks right.  It's obviously pretty horrible if they're not even shedding a tiny bit of light on the incident.

Honestly, I tend to lean towards there being some truth to the rumor about him hooking up with Chelios' daughter.  Was she in Tampa Bay when he played there?  I seem to recall seeing that recently.  There is a tangent to the rumor saying that she was pregnant, and had gone for an abortion during the road trip.  But that doesn't necessarily jive with the other rumor about him doing something while drunk at an event recently.  Maybe he got drunk and hooked up with her at the event?

Anyways, the more time goes by, the less of a chance I think we'll hear any more on the subject.  I'm sure the Ducks would like to know, because it seems like they planned on retiring his jersey at the same time as Getzlaf.

No apologies are needed. (I misspell as well)

This is a good conversation, I wish the team had half of the passion we the fans show here.

No I did not think we are going to be a contender this year but I belive we are better than 27 spot in the NHL.

Secondly look at the Redwing organization they send their players to the AHL for 2-3 years before they play on the NHL level by then they are hangry to showcase and work for a contract.

third look at our schedule it is not getting any easier with the ducks lost 8 in a row do you believe they're going to beat the Ave's ? Winnipeg or the Islanders? No

When Brian Burke was the GM he said I evaluate the team and adjust after 20 games we are here make a trade.

Trade who?  And if you have a specific team in mind, who do you expect to get in return?  Or are you just saying get rid of someone to shake things up?  Addition by subtraction?  But be sure that it's a player another team will want, and the Ducks don't have to cough up dough to make it work.

Galchenyuk had his contract terminated by the Coyotes before this season started because of an alcohol incident. In Perry's case as of now, he hasn't been arrested. Teams don't always give players help. Because of the Hawks history, I think they will have a zero tolerance policy now.

Really?  So there's actually recent precedence for a team cutting a player over alcohol.  Though after reading a Sports Illustrated article, it sounds like there was a lot more to Galchenyuk's dismissal.  He was actually arrested for DUI, and then flipped out.

  19. If alcohol abuse were the problem, the NHLPA would back him up.

It might be part of it, but he's covering up what really happened that caused his contract to be terminated.

He ought to go into politics.  Nice job skirting the issue.

I issued my statement....no further questions.

  20. https://www.bleachernation.com/blackhawks/2023/11/29/corey-perry-update-more-details-emerge-but-questions-regarding-the-termination-persist/

When asked on Wednesday whether the NHL Players’ Association would move to file a grievance in defense of Perry and, ultimately, all players with a potential precedent setting termination, an NHLPA spokesperson said that that the union was “reviewing the matter.” The NHLPA has 60 days from the date of termination to file a grievance. Perry’s agent, Pat Morris of Newport Sports Management, did not immediately return a request for comment.

Seravalli also cites some specific elements in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Standard Player Contract language that may come into play if Perry, his agent, or the Players Association choose to challenge the termination. There are some who have concern that this may set a precedent for teams to have increased ability to terminate a contract in the future because of actions that are deemed inappropriate — but not necessarily illegal.
