  1. People are posting on Twitter that because his contract was terminated, Chicago does not have to pay whatever was remaining.  The NHL Player's Association could file a grievance, but they apparently haven't done so, meaning they are not going to support Perry for whatever he did.  We may never find out, unless someone talks.

Not unless he fights the termination in some way, like if they try to not pay out his contract, and he files suit. If he doesn’t dispute what they say, either publicly or via some kind of legal dispute, then it doesn’t come out except by leak or by Corey talking about it.

I doubt they're going to pay his remaining contract.  Isn't that the whole reason they're saying he's being let go for violating the terms of his contract?  I suppose they could negotiate something with him, but it sounds like they're firing him for cause, meaning they don't want to pay him.

Probably not.  They might even be vulnerable to a lawsuit if they released details.  Just because we are curious doesn't mean we get to know!

It doesn't seem to be anything criminal, because law enforcement would most likely be involved.  So it's an ethical/moral/rules issue.  And if something went down, wording in the contract may actually prevent the Blackhawks from publicly releasing details, due to exposure to a lawsuit.

So other teams are left in the dark as to what happened?  Perry's playing days are likely over if that's the case.

Dude, if he called an office secretary "a raving bitch" that would be enough to terminate his contract because he created "an unsafe work environment".  It does not have to be violent, physical, or sexual.  At all.  In todays' environment it usually is not.

How about if he called Bedard's mom a "raving bitch?"  Or better yet, and feeding into the rumors, what if he simply said, "Yeah, Ms. Bedard, gee I'd like to tap that!"

If the Blackhawks cut him for violating a conduct clause of his contract, do they have to provide an explanation?  Or since this is the NHL, where rules and standards come and go, can they keep it secret?  Isn't that kind of unfair to other teams who might want to sign him as a UFA?  Not that the NHL cares much about fairness.

  5. There are essentially 6 guys who will determine whether the Ducks finish the season with 80+ points.

Terry, Zegras, Drysdale, Carlsson, Fowler & Gibson.  But they all have to be on the top of their game at the same time.  If only 2 or 3 of them are playing well simultaneously, then it's not gonna work.

Another 6 could get us to perhaps 90 points.

Vatrano, Silf, Henrique, Killorn, Mintyukov & Dostal.  You get the aforementioned 12 playing good hockey all at once, and you have a recipe for success.

Still time for the season to go either way.  They started the season playing 90 point hockey.  At the moment, they're playing 70 point hockey, at best, but probably more in the 60's.  That'll get us a Top 10 pick most likely.

  6. Bravo to the League.  After screwing the Ducks over yet again in the Draft, they schedule the Cup Champions on Banner Raising Night, to play last year's worst team in the league.

I wonder what odds you could get in Vegas by picking the Ducks in this one.

Could have, should have. I could have win a lottery ticket, but I didn't.

Off the topic: who's going to be our starting goaltender this season?

Begins with a G and ends with an N.  Assuming he's healthy, which he supposedly is right now.

I don't think he's playing in the opener against Vegas. Agree it's pretty vague but if he's back before November then I will be thrilled. Was bracing myself for much worse.

So I guess we get to play October without our big Free Agent signing or our big Draft Pick.

Overall, sounds like it's good.  But still a little on the vague side.  Do they mean "Good News," he'll only be out 6-8 weeks, when they had feared it would be the entire season?  A la Drysdale 2022-'23?  Or do they mean he'll be back for Game 1 in Vegas, rather than missing 2-4 weeks?

Here is the 1st post in this thread.  It has absolutely nothing to do with whether Zegras & Drysdale would be signed.

As the title says worst GM in Ducks history. From questionable trades to questionable free agent signing to questionable waive pick ups and coaching hires and then still thinking he has a playoff team when anyone with a brain can see how poorly they are built. And handing out bad contracts to Vatrano and Strome just to meet the cap floor. This guy has got to go sooner rather then later. The Ducks were still somewhat respectable when he took over. Not anymore and especially not with that ugly winking duck jersey. Just wait until Gibson and Henrique get traded this year for 3rd and 4th round picks and a B or C prospect. Other GMs know that Verbeek has no clue what he is doing. In interviews he sounds like he has no clue what he is doing and he is being fleeced in every move. Im not even sure he would have been smart enough to pick Bedard if he had 1OA. Time to move on before the Ducks have 5 last place finishes to go with thise 5 division titles.

  11. Ugh....here's an article from 2 weeks ago.  I didn't realize Gibson has FOUR YEARS left on his contract @ $6.4 Million/Yr.

We'll have to eat some of that $25.6 Million if there's any shot at moving him.

If we're generous and assume another team puts his salary value at $4 Million, and the Ducks wait until the trade deadline to move him, we would probably have to eat ($20.8 - $13) = $7.8 Million to trade him.

I feel like it’s already too late to move Gibson and he’s a negative value asset that’s depreciating every season. I hope and want nothing more than to be wrong, but I just haven’t seen it in several years now

There's the rub.  If it had been up to me, and someone had to go a few years ago, I would have kept Andersen and moved Gibson.  Either way, we were going to stink after Eaves got $9 Million to play less than 10 games, Kesler sucked a few more million away when he got a career ending injury as well, and we had to pay off Perry to play elsewhere.  At least Andersen probably would have come cheaper than Gibson.
