  1. Those players all went through bridge contracts before the big payout also. I'm not too against the big contract right off the elc. I think Zegras and the Ducks would benefit more from saving money now and spending more when the Ducks will be in the upswing of the rebuild.
  2. You're not wrong. I would like to see Zegras signed to a 7- or 8-year deal, and it would be nice to get a player locked up. I just don't see it as financially advisable for Anaheim. One thing that I noticed from your list is that all those players are in big markets while we are a small market. I think that's the main reason you don't see those large and long contracts from teams like Florida, Arizona, or Columbus either because it would destroy their profit margins.
  3. Zegras definitely will be a top 3 player on the team, there is no doubt about that. I also think that it's unfair to put that kind of pressure on him right now. He needs to build more consistency and go the bridge route so that if he does take a step back the spotlight will not be as intense. Zegras is at the stage where Terry was 3 years ago. Terry signed a bridge deal and now look at him.
  4. Too much of a risk to give Zegras a long-term deal. Giving him a 3 yr deal is the ideal for both sides.
  5. Dostal reminds me of Viktor Fasth. Dostal will be good and serviceable but isn't really a long-term plan and I'm not going to count on Dostal as a started of John Gibson's caliber even in the future.
  6. I don't like some of Verbeek's moves but he is far from the worst. So far, I like his choice of HC and picking up Mintyukov and Gaucher look very promising prospects. The free agent signings of Killorn and Gudas will help with the rebuild. I'm always of the wait and see approach and he still has one more bad year before we start to see the upswing.
  7. I'm excited to see the new coaching staff improve things. Last year was absolutely brutal for both the Gulls and Ducks. Can't have another repeat of last year.
  8. I would be happy if Carlsson can hit all his performance bonuses like 20 goals, 35 assists and 60 points overall. There are additional bonuses for all rookie team, all star, and all star mvp. It would be another feather in Madden's hat of great draft choices.
  9. Most of us knew coming into this season, Anaheim wasn't going to make an impact. At best, Anaheim would compete for the last playoff spot. I didn't expect us to be at the bottom either but not surprised. In the last 2 years we've seen ups and downs and this year with the retirement of Getzlaf, new GM, and the tearing apart of old players like Rakell, Manson, and Lindholm we should give this new team more time to build some chemistry. Am I expecting Anaheim to start dominating this next month? No, the breakout will get better, the passes should start connecting and the most important thing is I think they will start to get the breaks they need.
  10. Too early to call for the dismissal of GM but I wouldn't be upset about Eakins getting sacked. I want to give Eakins another month to see how he turns it around in November. If there is no improvement, then get rid of everyone.
  11. I'm loving this signing for the puns. Hits the post and scores a goal that's a Klingoal. Slaps the puck very hard that's a Klingbomb. All jokes aside great signing because he has the potential to score many points in a rebuilding team that will lead to his big payout next season. Anaheim can get a future asset for nothing. It's a win for both sides.
