  1. He´s a guy I would have wanted. I also see him as a PV kind of player. Let´s assume he didn´t want to be here. Sucks to say it but great deal for nashville.
  2. We could facilitate a deal with the blues by taking on Scandella and Tarasenko (if the latter would waive his NTC) but that would take a significant sweetener. If the blues would go for Tkachuk they´d have to offer up plenty and that leaves little to sweeten other deals. It sucks for calgary but it does make for an interesting summer.
  3. Depends on what calgary is looking for. If they´re looking for pieces to help them now we´re out of it but if they´re looking for picks and prospects we´d be a prime candidate. And one of the few who don´t have to send back a bad contract because of the cap. I think it´s in calgary´s best intrest to start a retool/rebuild. They were very good in the regular season but barely got past dallas - granted, they ran into a hot goalie - only to lose the next round in pretty dramatic fashion to the oilers because of their own not so hot goalie. While their D might still be good their offense might be in trouble. Both Gaudreau and Tkachuk had career years and they´re gone. Backlund is 33 and monahan is damaged goods. That´s not great. If they move Tkachuk for picks and prospects without taking a bad contract back they have a lot of capspace to try to make a big splash in free agency next year. We could offer that kind of package but the fact still remains that the flames would rather move him out of the division and that Tkachuk probably doesn´t want to be here.
  4. Or they trade him within the division because calgary is so piddled that they want as much opportunity as posssible to boo him.
  5. How much truth is in those statements? Yesterday 8 players hadn´t issued a statement. One might have thought those were the 8 players involved (if anything happened and if there were in fact 8 players involved) Now Steel and Comtois have (and maybe others didn´t look it up). I haven´t read all the statements but I´m pretty sure they all say they weren´t involved. Then again it would be weird if someone came out and said I was part of it. Anyway to me those statements are pretty meaningless.
  6. That´s way too much. He has one year remaining, if the rumors are true he´s saying he wants out which lowers his value and not too many teams have the capspace. After the gaudreau debacle the flames can´t risk losing another star for nothing. I gotta say they got dealt a sh*t hand. They can only hope one team is willing to overpay.
  7. Smart thing to do. Good player but I don´t know whether he can hit those totals again so now is the time to cash in. I just don´t know how many teams have the space to do it. St.-Louis sure doesn´t. Probably arizona, buffalo, new jersey, dallas and ottawa maybe and of course us. If he comes with an extension I´d say go for it but I can´t see it happening.
  8. I know people make fun of him because he looks kinda chubby but I can´t believe he doesn´t take care of himself. How the hell can you achieve such an amazing feat without taking care of your body. The man is a riddle.
  9. He has played 982 consecutive games. Again he doesn´t look like much of an athlete but that´s a meaningful stat. He´s either superprofessional or his perseverance and determination is of the charts (or he has been exceptionally lucky). Any way you look at it that to me is a great example.
  10. We´re going to be bad anyway. Meanwhile we might as well be entertaining to look at. We have to get fans in the seats. Kessel might be a way to do it. He can break the iron man streak which is cool and if he´s playing okay flip him at the deadline for assets. He helps us reaching the cap floor and again he may not look like an athlete but he´s doing something right. Great example for the young guys.
  11. Not for us. If he walks, it´s to Ottawa or St.-Louis. I wonder whether this is going to become a trend. Eichel, Dubois, now Tkachuk perhaps. Or maybe it´s always been that way and I´m paying more attention to it now.
  12. I don´t know whether his name has been mentioned on these 159 pages but what about Phil Kessel? He´s 34 but he can still put it in the back of the net. I can´t imagine him looking for a 4-5 year deal. Maybe 2-3 years which IMO is ideal for us. The guy doesn´t look like a pro but if all goes well he´ll become the new iron man so that accounts for something. One might ask himself why would Phil Kessel come to Anaheim? Well he spend the last seasons in Arizona so isn´t everything an upgrade then (apologies Yotes fans)?
  13. That can get ugly. If it turns out Comtois was involved he should get sacked. None of that blackhawks crap on this team. Same goes for Steel but he´ll probably not be on the team anymore.
  14. Interesting statement from PV on finding a defenseman. Makes me wonder though who fits the bill. We of course don't know how much term they're asking for so hard to make predictions but I imagine he's talking about Klingberg for example who's looking for 7-8 years. But what UFA's are still available who might tick all the boxes? Hagg? Subban? I'd rather see PV go the trade route to bring in another D man because what's left in free agency is nothing impressive. I don't think there's a hidden gem left who might thrive under Eakins because nobody does. But good to hear he's at least looking at adding a D man.
  15. Funny. I saw that mentioned a couple of days earlier that teams like Arizona and Anaheim would be in a prime position to take a run at Matthews. It seems like there's a lot of people convinced he's going to leave Toronto. I wonder where that comes from. He just won a second Richard Trophy, the Hart Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award. Of course they were eliminated again in the 1st round but I have the feeling they're getting closer. Getting past that 1st round is going to happen sooner rather than later I think. The toronto media and fans can be harsh on their team but I think Marner and Tavares get more heat than him. If he wants a shot at The Cup he should definitely stay. If he just wants to play hockey and not be in the spotlight then he'd better leave. Very curious to see what happens.
  16. Really thought Petterson would have gone the other way. Unless of course they´re pushing for Klingberg. I hope Petterson doesn´t end up here. Not against the man but he´s a beanpole and we need toughness badly.
  17. Klingberg and Kadri holding things up I guess. Kadri wants to play for a contender. I think only the Avs can afford him. Maybe Boston although I think their contending days are over. Kadri to Colorado and klingberg to Seattle. Once the Avs have made their choice they´re gonna have to move something out.
  18. Someone not overly physical but not one to shy away from contact and whose name surfaces quite often in the rumor mill is Matt Dumba. I think he can use a change of scenery and minnesota is pretty close to the cap. Dumba may not have turned out to be the stud he was once considered to be but he would make our D core better (not a hard thing to do).
  19. Would Montreal be open to to trading Edmundson? Not necessarily a top 4 D man but he´s big and can box players out. He would help a lot in the toughness department. He has 2 years remaining on his deal. I proposed Erik Johnson (who´s a righty) earlier but it seems more likely the Avs will move Girard rather than EJ.
  20. Sad to say but so much this. I have a bit of hope that Silfverberg´s thing was sort of a freak injury and that he might make a comeback in a bottom 6 role but Jones is just too injury prone. Tracey and Perreault should be given quite a few good looks IMO.
  21. I don´t think they´d move their 1st just to get rid of him. He´s older and has had injury problems but he´s not worthless either. Or suppose if they do we may send a 2nd back. Their 1st will be pretty late and our 2nd will be pretty high. Or drop the picks and have them retain 25%. It´s just for one year. Btw that OC thing is just something I read written by a fan. Don´t know whether there´s any truth to it. But if it´s legit I can see him waiving to come here. He has a Cup. Maybe he doesn´t mind not making the playoffs after last year. It´s a perfect fit 😄
  22. Would Erik Johnson be available? No idea whether the Avs need to shed salary. He has one year remaining at 6 mil. He´s 34 but had a healthy season. He´s a big dude who has a mean streak. He plays the right side. I think he could be a great mentor for the young guys. Apparently he spends the summer in Orange County. With our cap situation it´s a low risk move. But again is he available?
  23. I know the offseason is still long but anybody concerned about the lack of toughness in the line-up? Deslauriers and Manson won't be back so right now we have Benoit, Carrick and if he's healthy (and it's a big if) Jones who bring that element. Comtois perhaps to a lesser degree and from what I'm reading Vatrano also doesn't shy away from contact. But still, Fowler, Shattenkirk, Drysdale, Terry, Zegras, Lundestrom, ... We were too easy to play against. While I don't want to sign a goon I'd like to see that changed. Manson would have been perfect. The way it stands now Gibson is staying. He'll get rubber poisoning on a regular basis but maybe he's cool with that. But if we don't add some toughness to our D he'll get run on a regular basis too. And that's bad. Or am I overestimating that physical element?
  24. I can see them totally overpay for kadri now.
  25. Very decent contract. Again detroit trying to take the next step. If they stay healthy they might be an outsider for a playoff spot (although the east was pretty tough last season).
