  1. With the pens extending Rakell, Malkin and signing Rutta something´s gotta move be it Marino, Petterson or Zucker. Big chance one of them ends up in Anaheim I think. Marino plays the right side no? Maybe he´s a fit.
  2. Kubalik also to detroit. Good pick-up. Too bad for us.
  3. You beat me by a few seconds 😀 hadn´t even noticed they also signed Maatta.
  4. Seems like detroit is going to make a push for the playoffs. Copp, chiarot and now Perron.
  5. 4 years for Deslauriers just under 2mil apparently. That´s a great contract for him. Philly must want to toughen up badly.
  6. Some big names still out there. I thought for sure Kadri, Palat & Klingberg would be some of the first ones to go. Then again they´re the ones commanding the most money I guess.
  7. Those are some huge contracts indeed. Perhaps there was a handshake agreement in place? Didn´t Sergachev sign a pretty cheap bridge deal at some point?
  8. I'd be perfectly fine with Manson. Also one of the (or both) Strome brothers. Kubalik would be nice. But I don't have a clue about who PV fancies. Taking into account his statement on getting bigger I'm think Marchment. Maybe Niederreiter who's not a giant by any means but he's not small either and sort of a clutch player. I still wonder about PK Subban. I think that's somebody who would want to be here and although I don't really like him as a player he'd bring attention to this team. It wouldn't hurt the franchise to be in the spotlight a bit more I think. Zegras is doing a magnificent job at that but having a personality like PK around wouldn't hurt either I think.
  9. I think they might go with murray for the time being. Apparently he and keefe go way back. He did pretty well for a couple of years in pittsburgh so why not give it a shot as long as he's healthy. But if he starts getting injured they're gonna be in trouble.
  10. That´s exactly what I meant. I think most Ducks fans have come to terms with the fact that we´re not competing for a playoffs spot next season. So in that regard there´s no pressure. With somewhat competitive I think of last year´s team up until the all-star break. I think we may have exceeded expectations a bit back then. PV will have to add something significant to our D core (that may be tough) and keep Gibson around. With guys like JVR and Zucker I don´t see why we wouldn´t be able to replicate that. We may have fewer wins even but I want to see a team that tries. If he does that I´m happy. Then he can use next season to set himself up for the real work. But IMO this season is warm-ups for PV.
  11. Is he in a tough spot really? All he has to do this year is put an entertaining and somewhat competitive product on the ice. He already has a great part of that with Terry and Zegras. He basically has a clean slate. Lots of capspace some of which he has to spend to reach the floor. He can take on bad contracts as long as he gets some draft picks in return to take them on and nobody will blame him. Meanwhile he has a whole season to figure out deals for his young stars and to start looking into adding significant pieces.
  12. This looks pretty good actually although a lot depends on Comtois getting his groove back because I don't think Jones is a good fit on the top line. I love the idea of pairing Henrique with Lundestrom. Ideally I hope Henrique is still around when Gaucher makes his way to the big team. He seems like a great mentor. That's why I'm bummed Getzy didn't come back. I'm pretty sure he could keep Zegras in check more or less. For that scorer I'd maybe look at JVR. We can take on his caphit and philly will have to throw a pick in there to sweeten the deal. He still put up 24 goals on a bad philly team.
  13. Doesn´t Gibson have a 10 team NTC? He´s from Pittsburgh. Don´t know how deep that rivalry runs but might philly be on his list? I suppose all Canadian teams might be on it and a hockeyhellhole like Arizona.
  14. Well PV has to get us to the cap floor so there definitely will be signings. Curious to see which ones.
  15. How about Drouin? I don´t know whether Montreal wants to get rid of him but if they do I´d like to see him getting an opportunity in a low pressure environment. Then again PV was with the lightning when things got ugly so little chance I guess.
  16. The pens need capspace. Would hextall consider moving the pens´ 1st to dump zucker? If so PV should be all over it.
  17. I know I was just making a comparison to a perhaps similar player. Just noticed that Ben King ended up 2nd in scoring in the WHL before Matthew savoie, Jagger Firkus & Conor Geekie. Ever since Emerson Etem I don´t pay a lot of attention to it but I was still surprised.
  18. DeAngelo playing for Tortorella. I guess more than a few people will be holding their breath in philly. Although I think he behaved pretty well in Carolina.
  19. I get that but don´t be fooled by scouting reports and mock drafts. When I read those I always get the feeling every draft is loaded with future HOF´ers. But that is of course not the case. Especially not at #22. Then I´d rather end up with somebody who might be our next Sammy Pahlsson than a high risk guess that goes overseas in a few years. We have talented lightweights in Zegras & Terry and a few projects in Perreault, Tracey & Pastujov. Adding some size combined with talent (McT & Gaucher) is IMO a good move and what this team needs. Sure Gaucher can turn out a bust and Brad Lambert can end up being the next Kucherov and then we´ll blame PV. But Gaucher might also end up a Selke winner and Lambert the next yakupov. That´s the beauty (and ugliness) of the draft.
  20. Raise your hand if you think there´s a chance Vegas makes a trade with the nucks only to come out disappointed when they realise they´ve picked the wrong Petterson.
  21. I really like the Gaucher pick. "Defensively, he’s been exceptional at the junior level. Twice in three seasons he’s been nominated for the Guy Carbonneau Award for the best defensive forward in the QMJHL. With his size and long reach he can disposes players of the puck in the defensive zone. His speed helps him get back into position or back-check." We have enough flash & bang in Zegras. A down to earth hard worker is the perfect counterpart. Apparently he's pretty good in the circle too, something not to be underestimated when the game is on the line. He already has NHL size so maybe we see him sooner rather than later on the big team. If McT hits his ceiling he' probably our #2 C. If Gaucher hits his he's probably a #3 C who can fill in on the 2nd line when necessary. That could leave Lundestrom as #4 or out. Unless one of them moves to wing of course. Anyway I like it. He won't make the highlightreels but he's almost a certainty to make it to the big team. And we also have Bo Groulx waiting in the wings.
  22. I hope the hawks blow for the next 50 years. This is so hard tanking for Bedard. Meanwhile they're doing toronto a solid by taking mrazek. Wouldn't mind taking a chance on Strome though.
  23. Seems like they´re also putting Dach on the market. So if rumors are true they´re shopping strome, dach, Jones & Debrincat. They´re really going all in for Beddard.
