  1. We are definitely on the same page. The lack of pushback from ownership on the Cogliano fiasco spoke volumes. It was also another dunderhead Parros decision.
  2. That event actually got Gibson jacked up post game, since he thought Voracek was dissing him. I'm seriously surprised someone with some whiskers (Getzlaf, Fowler, Henrique) doesn't take him aside and tell him to knock off the non-hockey crap. He got great skill, but he's a bit of a clown show with his smirk and smack antics.
  3. The elbow to the head of a young Claude Giroux comes to mind. Perry was rat dirty in a sneaky kind of way, but the players knew his antics. When he won the Hart in 2011, he didn't win the best player award (Ted Lindsay) as voted by his peers...Daniel Sedin did.
  4. You're arguing with yourself at this point. We disagree. That said, I'm truly sorry Terry got waxxed.
  5. we disagree then. It's not right or wrong. It's game management. Show someone up today, pay tomorrow.
  6. It's understanding the score and game situation. There was no need to be digging at the goalies pads in a 5-0 game that's winding down. Eakins could have been playing his bottom six for most of the remainder of a "meaningless" game. At 5-0, it's pretty much game over. Zegras annoys the opponents with his smirks and smack. Unfortunately somebody else had to respond to his getting crosschecked. I've said it before, the skill is great, but I wish he'd act more like a humble rookie. Zegras being crosschecked is a normal opposition response to what he was doing in the crease. It wasn't a violent crosscheck either. Garden variety minor. I don't blame Beagle for that. It's not an unusual play. The linesmen were alseep at the switch when Beagle lost his mind on Terry. Beagle should have backed off after the first punch when Terry didn't drop his gloves. This Ducks team is soft at this moment in time. Someone needs to be on the roster to offer protection. It's unreasonable to expect a middleweight like Carrick to bear that burden.
  7. The trade deadline talking heads announced Verbeek was listening to offers for Gibson. The off season makes more sense since Gibson is under contact. Trading Gibson at the peak might still be a good play.
  8. Saw that was added to TSN later. Clang is a great goalie name. Adding a goalie makes me believe something could happen to Gibson in the off season. Apparently GMPV was listening to offers.
  9. For a second rounder. The other players returning are UFAs. thought Rakell would have brought more return.
  10. IMO, Getz stays if he wants. The one team legacy and the rafters. I would move Raks for something. A couple of high draft picks. I would hope a first and a third. He's not a centerpiece, but could offer secondary scoring.
  11. A third rounder is a good return for Des. Hagg, $1.6m defensemen just went to Florida for a 6th rounder this morning. I hope they re-sign him to a short term deal in the off season.
  12. Contract is front loaded. 5 year NMC, last three years NTC at a lower Cap hit. He wasn't going to get that in Anaheim. Makes buying him out or trading him easier if production drops.
  13. Lindholm extension with Bruins complete. $52M eight years, $6.5M per. Salary is Ok, but term is excessive IMO. https://www.tsn.ca/hampus-lindholm-extension-boston-bruins-1.1773691
  14. The 8 year term was the hangup, and I think the smarter GMs are recognizing the fallout potential for the extra long terms - much like NMCs no longer being offered except in rare cases. Hampus is a very good number two defensemen. I like the trade.
  15. A first, two seconds, and a former first round Draft pick prospect for a guy you weren’t going to overpay to sign. The facepalm is in Boston.
  16. $8-9 million for Lindholm x 8? Ugh…..overpayment. $6.5 million for 5-6 would my idea of his value. In 8 years he will be 36. Years 7 and 8 will be less productive. I’m appauld GMPV for walking away. He got a good return in assets. I hope they offer ND20 a contract in the off-season if the price is right, 1-2 years, $1.2m. Paid protection who can take a shift.
  17. That was just a paper game to help Colorado under the cap. It will cost the Ducks a little under $500K since salary is prorated and there are 20 games left (less than a quarter of the season).
  18. Manson fits better as a third pairing guy. I look at him as a number 5, who can take top four minutes when pressed. When he plays too many minutes, he turns into a turnover machine. He'll do well in Colorado. He might even get some hardware with that group. He'll probably slot in for MacDermid. I think he was a GMBM favorite. That connection is gone.
  19. Good trade and return. Manson is a third pairing guy forced into a top 4 spot. He should slot in the bottom pairing in Colorado. Better team and he'll perform better there.
  20. I'm not sure who stays or goes, but slipping out of the playoff picture is a positive development. Like GM Verbeek commented, you can't let guys leave for nothing. If the Ducks were truly competitive, there would be a tendency to keep UFA assets for a playoff run.
  21. I don't see Getzlaf getting moved. He would be the only Ducks jersey hanging in the rafters who played exclusively for the Ducks. That is a serious accomplishment.
  22. I would expect Lindholm to say he is testing the market. It gives him more leverage in negotiations. And I think Getzlaf is about done. Mother time is not friendly.
  23. Verbeek was a scrappy guy. Brought it every night. Not the biggest guy around, but very hard working, and would drop the gloves as needed. He’s not in the HHOF, but really should be IMO. 500+ goals, almost 3000 PIM, over 1400 games, over 1000 points. Has a SC Ring….
  24. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/33094831/nhl-fans-vote-steve-stamkos-nazem-kadri-mika-zibanejad-troy-terry-nhl-all-star-game-rosters Troy Terry wins the Pacific Division Last Man In. Thanks to all of you who voted. Troy Terry certainly deserves the recognition. Go Ducks...
  25. Ritchie actually has value in my book. He fits well with a team that needs some beef. I like bottom six guys who can engage when neccessary.
