  1. I like the Pitre pick at 65. He plays hard and has good offensive skill. That’s good value there.
  2. Sawchyn at 63. I was hoping for him at 59/60.
  3. LOL I called Sorum to Carolina at 62 days ago. Damnit.
  4. Bleh, a goalie at 60. Was hoping that wouldn’t happen. The analytics analyst for NHL Network loves him. Thinks he might be the best goalie in the draft.
  5. Both players I had targeted for 59/60 are still available. Let’s see…
  6. Couple quotes from Pronman and Wheeler of the Athletic: Pronman: Myatovic is a 6-foot-2 winger with a strong skill level. He won't bring you out of your seats, but he can beat defenders with his stickhandling. He has enough vision and offensive IQ to create chances at higher levels. Myatovic also has a strong wrist shot. Wheeler: He’s a December ’04 and his statistical profile isn’t glossy but he’s got plus-level size, skating and work ethic and there is a belief that despite being on the older side that he’s still very early in his development. If you take these two comments together you probably get where the Ducks fall on him. They probably believe in his skill and that he’s going to get a lot better due to being early in his development.
  7. Myatovic looks to be a bit off the board pick. Pronman of the Athletic has him at #45, and Sportsnet had him at #32. Most others had him lower. Time will tell. So far the other 2nd round picks (non goalies) have followed the typical rankings.
  8. Ok, dig some digging. For what it’s worth, Brad Allen is the head scout for hockeyprospects.com. Here’s their top 32 list for this years draft: https://hockeyprospect.com/2023-nhl-draft-rankings/ Carlsson was #2. Here’s another video of him talking about why his publication has Carlsson at #2. Starts at 6:22:
  9. I came across this video debating Fantilli and Carlsson a few weeks ago when searching out prospect info. I decided to dig it out because we drafted Carlsson, and there’s a pretty wild opinion on him in it. Take it with a grain of salt of course, and I haven’t seen this opinion anywhere else. I also have no idea what scouting qualifications Brad Allen has. At any rate, it’s fun to believe in what he has to say. it starts at the 4:00 mark. I’ll give you all a little tease… “I think that in 5 years Leo Carlsson has a chance to…”
  10. Great link. I remember this person. I think it was board member Sexlaf15 who linked this person during a previous years draft, and I liked his detailed write ups. I just checked his 2022 ratings and he had Mintyukov at #5. That’s looking like a solid call right now. Concerning Carlsson, he talks about a lot of the same stuff I’ve seen highlighted in video and in scouting reports, and also from my own viewing. It’s a solid read. Anyone on the fence or disliking the pick should check it out.
  11. I was watching on TV, and I checked NHL Network’s Twitter account/Ducks site and that clip isn’t there unfortunately.
  12. Watching NHL Network’s recap show, and they’ve got a prospect analyst/data guy on there. He mentioned Carlsson was ranked #2 for him/his outlet, and he showed some of their analytics they have for him. The short version is Carlsson was very impressive analytically. He was gushing about Carlsson. When it got to Fantilli he was complementary, but also mentioned things he still needs to develop. Clearly he was higher on Carlsson. I thought that was pretty interesting.
  13. Too many assumptions here. If anything, this is a positive to me. Clearly the Ducks love Carlsson so much they weren’t willing to screw around. There’s no saying Columbus didn’t also have Carlsson #2. Also doesn’t say what CBJ was willing to give up for the Ducks to take that risk.
  14. I think I like Gauthier the best at 33. I think he has the best combination of tools, competitiveness, and size that will help him make the NHL with a chance to be a top 6 winger. I wouldn’t hate going for a more risky/high skill player considering who’s left though. I think there’s enough interesting players left that would be taken too high at 33, but would be nice to get at 59/60. And I still hope to get Felix Unger Sorum in the 3rd round or beyond.
  15. Oooooh… Edstrom goes right before us. I would have liked him.
  16. I like Sawchyn at #59 if he’s there. Gauthier would be good at 33, maybe Brindley too, but I think I like a few better.
  17. If we were going to take a swing I’d rather go with Nadeau if he’s still there.
  18. I think there will be guys available at 33 that have skill and can score but won’t have as much bust potential as him. Ducks can’t afford to have a bust pick there.
  19. Same. Didn’t think it was likely though. I thought Toronto would be his floor. He was rated in the top 15 at a bunch of places. Hope he busts.
  20. Don’t like Musty going to the Sharks. That could be a really good pick.
  21. Even if he does I don’t know that I’d take him. He skill is off the charts, but he has more questions than just his size. Very risky pick. It depends who’s still left for me.
  22. I wouldn’t hate it, but there’s still a handful of players I like more still available.
  23. Perreault’s brother goes . This is a boom or bust pick; if he translates his game to the NHL this will be a massive home run. He’s got question marks on how well he will transition though, especially his skating. His brother has been a bust (so far), so Gabriel can’t bust too right lol?
