  1. Honestly I think it's a joke they're even proceeding with the ASG when they continue to postpone real games. Hey, I have a great idea. Let's get at least one player from each team in one place, then send them all back to their teams! Nothing could go wrong!
  2. Plus minus is a joke. He's on the worst team in the league. He could be minus-100, that doesn't mean anything.
  3. The speculation is that the Ducks are in on Chychrun because they are expecting to lose Lindholm in UFA.
  4. Well after being awarded just 3 power plays in 2 games, last night we got 4. One of which ended after 30 seconds and one of which was due to a bad review by Philly. But still, those 2 games against Vegas and Colorado were certainly frustrating as the refs decided only one team in each game deserved any penalties. 4/7 on the PP over the last 3 games by the way, without Getzy for 2 games and Zegras for all of them.
  5. I think the main purpose of the vaccines are to prevent severe outcomes - so you felt like you had a cold instead of something worse. The vaccines don't seem to be doing much, if anything, to actually prevent infection, especially with the Omicron variant.
  6. World Juniors are over due to Covid. Crazy stuff. Sounds like all the Ducks that have tested positive are asymptomatic so hopefully nothing to worry about long term. I speculate that when Silf went on Covid protocol early in the season he was sick with Covid, as it seems like he is not 100% since then. Maybe he is having some lingering symptoms. Nothing behind this, just a theory.
  7. Hopefully Covid is over in the next 2 years and they can play a World Cup or something. It's not the same though. 2 straight years without NHL players at the Olympics is pretty lame.
  8. They played maybe their best defensive game of the season on Wednesday night, then played one of their worst last night. It happens, I won't be getting too upset over one game.
  9. 3 more teams have games postponed through Christmas now (Anaheim obviously caught up in that too since they were meant to play Calgary next week). They have also postponed the Montreal-Boston game that was to be played tomorrow, and it sounds like more Boston games will be postponed. So at this rate there might be quite a few games to catch up on come February. At this point I don't see them going to the Olympics.
  10. Flames, Panthers, Avs games all postponed until after Christmas. Hmmm, I'm sure they will be doing everything possible to avoid a pause. There are teams like Anaheim that have no players currently in Covid protocol that should be able to keep playing. The thought will be that this is going to be with us for a long time, and they can't just pause the season every year. I don't follow the NFL but my understanding is that they will now allow positive players to play provided their viral load is low, meaning they are not really contagious. It's also my understanding that many of the NHL players that have been on the Covid list this year have been asymptomatic, and they felt they could have played, so there's a growing sentiment that they should just stop testing on a regular basis, and only test if the player has symptoms.
  11. Yeah, I don't think any NHL players will go if there is a 3-5 week quarantine requirement. However, hockey is one of the biggest events at the Winter Olympics, and China want this event to be a success, so I could see them waiving this requirement for athletes. We will see what happens. If they don't go I wonder if the NHL will change the schedule, otherwise they just have a 3 week gap with all players sitting at home.
  12. I usually look at points percentage instead of actual standings, and Anaheim is still second in the Pacific on points percentage.
  13. The Olympic break could do us a big favor. How many of our guys are going to the Olympics? Gibby for the USA. Lindholm and Rakell for Sweden probably. I think that might be it. The rest of our players get to rest and relax for a few weeks before the stretch run.
  14. They were very clinical. I know it's only Seattle but they have beaten some good teams this season. Milano, wow. His back checking was fantastic. He's gone from a guy that offered nothing on defense to the guy that's first man back supporting the defensemen.
  15. I basically agree. I was thinking 5 x $5.25M would be fair for Rakell. If Anaheim can get him in that ballpark I think that's a good contract for both parties.
  16. Yeah, it's cover for Mahura. Hopefully we don't see Larsson get into a game. But Dostal is still up so Gibson likely still out.
  17. I'm actually wondering if Jack Campbell might be a chance of being the USA starter. 14-5-2, .935sv, 1.99GAA. Better than both Hellebuyck and Gibby.
  18. Stolarz is a great backup, it's a perfect role for him IMO. But he's kinda like Koskinen in Edmonton - the more he plays, the more he will get exposed as an NHL starter. Hopefully Gibby's injury isn't too bad. I still have no idea who will start for the USA at the Olympics. Gibson and Hellebucyk have almost identical stats: Gibson: 11-7-4, .918sv, 2.57GAA, 1 SO Hellebucyk: 10-7-4, .917sv, 2.64GAA, 1 SO
  19. The fans in Edmonton were so angry about his McDavid comments. As somebody living amongst Oilers fans, I couldn't get enough of it.
  20. Torts is such a great 'analyst' (studio guy), he's doing what ESPN pay him to do - generate views and clicks. This is the same as when he said McDavid should shut up. He gets people riled up and passionate about the game. He plays the role of angry old man now that Don Cherry is gone, except without the bigotry. I think it's great.
  21. I'm guessing the same Red Wing fans have no problem with Nedeljkovic being a rookie of the year finalist despite playing 28 games for Carolina prior to joining them.
  22. I pretty much agree with everything you have said. The one guy I slightly disagree with is Rakell. I want Anaheim to re-sign him as I'm not sure he's as easily replaceable as everyone says. Comtois had one good season, but he struggled this year before he got hurt. Jones has never really proven himself as a goal scorer. We have Perreault and a few other goal scoring prospects in the pipeline, but there's no guarantee they will be able to score at the NHL level. I don't know. Anaheim has been so bad at scoring goals for so long, I don't want to lose one of our proven goal scoring wingers if we can help it.
  23. Detroit are only in the wildcard right now because they have played more games. Based on point percentage they are on the outside looking in. I don't think they will be close to a playoff spot by March. Yzerman will take his time I think.
  24. The fact that he plays guys like Deslauriers in the last minute of tied games makes me pretty certain that this is the case.
  25. Personally I'm trying to re-sign Lindholm and Rakell, so I wouldn't move those guys. Though I'm not sure if management agrees. Getzlaf I think it's up to him if he wants to go to a contender at the deadline. Since the team is competitive he may want to stay. Manson is the one guy I think they have to move at the deadline. Competing teams want defensive depth, and Manson plays a physical style that works in the playoffs. He could bring back a first or second round pick depending on the market. I'm sure the team would love to move Silfverberg and/or Henrique but there won't be many takers for their contracts.
