  1. Ristolainen got Buffalo the 14th overall pick, a second rounder, and a third pair defenseman (Hagg). If Risto got that then surely Manson could net a similar return. He scores more than Manson but he's god awful in his own end.
  2. That combined with the fact that the Ducks are probably in the worst division in the league - they could be a bubble playoff team if the kids play well. I don't think they will make the playoffs but they should be better than last year I would think (hope).
  3. Seems like Kase is probably done. He just can't avoid concussion issues. One of the only good things Murray has done in the last few years was get something for him while he still had value.
  4. FYI this is a quote from an Eric Stephens article from last week: Also from Bob Murray: It sounds like the Samuelis are getting more involved as they are sick of losing too. For now Murray is still running the show but I have to think that will change if we don't see improvements this season.
  5. Personally I'm not thinking about next season if I'm adding Eichel, I'm thinking more about 2-3 years down the line when Zegras, Drysdale, McTavish, hopefully Perreault (if he is not part of a trade package), and maybe Lacombe, Thrun and Colangelo are ready to be regular NHL contributors. But I guess the smarter move is to just add some top end free agents in 2-3 years to supplement these young players. Obviously a lot can happen between now and then, but the free agent class in 2 years includes MacKinnon, Barzal, Pastrnak, DeBrinkat, Larkin, Huberdeau, Horvat, Meier. Save the money from Eichel and go hard after one or two of these guys in a couple of years. That also keeps the team bad again next season for a possible lottery pick.
  6. Rask is out until January at the earliest, so they would need to rely on their young goalies until then. Francouz missed all of last season with injury. I'm guessing the Avs will want to shore up that position before the start of the season.
  7. Linus Ullmark signs in Boston. That means Colorado and Buffalo are the last teams looking for a starting goalie. Maybe Washington if they don't want to roll with Samsonov. Fleury might be available from Chicago. Then Chicago would need to replace Fleury too. Otherwise would Gibson be the best goaltender left available via trade or free agency? Edit: Darcy Kuemper is likely available too. I have to think Colorado now have to be looking at adding one of the above goalies via trade as they are all better than any remaining UFA. But Arizona, Colorado and Chicago are all in the same division so could that make a goalie trade between those teams less likely?
  8. TSN reporting Montreal have offered a contract to Corey Perry, just waiting to hear if he has accepted.
  9. Asking price for Eichel is too high for a guy with an injury. Buffalo are going to have to come down off their demands for 4 assets if they want to move him I think.
  10. Gotta love watching our rivals make moves while Murray stares into a blank void.
  11. Washington don't want to run with Samsonov? I know his numbers last year were average but he was in and out of the lineup.
  12. Grubauer to Seattle now confirmed. Hopefully we get the Getzlaf confirmation soon too.
  13. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/habs-release-letter-1.6120884 Just to add to the conversation.
  14. Kevin Weekes is reporting Grubauer is in discussions to sign with Seattle. Colorado might need a goalie after all.
  15. There just aren't that many teams that need a goalie now. Edmonton? They have decided to forego defensemen that can actually play defense so they will need decent goaltending. Not sure they can afford him though after signing Barrie and Ceci today.
  16. If you were Fowler you would probably kill yourself.
  17. McTavish will almost certainly start on the wing. This is pretty common around the NHL to let young guys find their legs. I believe McKinnon started his career on the wing for the Avs.
  18. It's a goalie carousel again today: Anderson to CAR Bernier to NJ Mrazek to TOR Brossoit to VGK Reimer to SJ Jones to PHI Holtby to DAL Halak to VAN Elliott to TB What teams are still looking for goaltending? Buffalo? Maybe Boston or Pittsburgh if they aren't happy riding their young guys? I'm assuming Grubauer goes back to Colorado as his options are limited if he wants to be a starter.
  19. Reimer back to San Jose. I'm not sure how much of an upgrade that is on Jones.
  20. I don't know, maybe he just wanted to see the offers but at the same time he wants to be a one team player. Also he said recently (on a podcast I think) that his family is not going to move, so if he plays for another team he would be away from his family for at least 7 months. You could be right, also considering my point above about his family, he might be willing to be a rental as that cuts down the time he is away from them. Or maybe he just wants to go year to year as he is not sure how much longer he wants to play. I'm not sure we can read too much into it. I do like the idea of playing him with McTavish. Maybe Eakins has told Getz that he won't be playing with complete scrubs next season.
  21. Not going to lie, I'm breathing a sigh of relief. Getz is a 3rd line C at this point but it would have made me sick to see him in the Nashville p*ss jerseys.
  22. Kevin Weekes reporting Getzlaf will sign a 1 year deal with Anaheim.
