  1. As I said, not just talking about free agent signings. There is no sign of anything happening so far this offseason. It would just be nice as a fan to see something actually happen to change this roster, other than possibly losing our captain to free agency.
  2. Literally nothing. Not even any rumors related to this team. I'm not expecting big free agent signings but it would be nice to see the front office actually try to improve the second worst team in the league.
  3. Andersen wouldn't sign with Carolina and went back in the draft to be taken by Anaheim. Now he ends up back in Carolina anyway. Bonino drafted by the Sharks, never played a game for them, traded to Anaheim. Now ends up back in San Jose near the end of his career.
  4. Or you could just be the Oilers and sign 40 year old Mike Smith to a 2 year deal.
  5. Andersen's stats have been either the same or worse than Gibson over the last 2 seasons, and that is on a far better team. I have to think that Gibson is viewed as more valuable around the league. Other than Grubauer I don't know how many of the UFA goalies available are as good as Gibson and/or young enough to invest in. Mrazek maybe. Once those guys are gone then the calls might start for Gibby.
  6. God I hate the idea of Getzlaf in Nashville. That would be worse to me than Kariya bailing for Colorado.
  7. I know Ritchie scored more goals this last season, but his points per game were basically the same as they were in his last 2 seasons in Anaheim. So his production was pretty similar in Boston, he just filled a different role so had more goals and less assists, for about the same number of points. Ritchie is good for about 40 points in a full season but I can't see him ever scoring more than that. Heinen on the other hand has progressively scored less and less every season since his debut.
  8. Carter wanted out of there long before Torts was involved with the franchise. Is Columbus just a crappy place to live?
  9. Let Montreal sign Virtanen then. They can be the team of sexual assault predators.
  10. He's proven to still be an effective goal scorer. Even if he slows down over the next few years he could get there like this: 2021-2022: 40 goals 2022-2023: 40 goals 2023-2024: 30 goals 2024-2025: 30 goals 2025-2026: 25 goals Obviously that means he would still need to score at a near-elite level for another couple of seasons. Also he would have to stay healthy which is tougher to do the older you get. He won't get to 1000 though, that's a bridge too far I think. He would have probably gotten there were it not for the multiple lockouts and shortened season during his career.
  11. Tschigerl is another good pick for us today. Perfect 5th round pick. Low risk, potential high reward if he keeps developing. Physical winger with a heavy forecheck but also decent hands. He was a point per game player this past season on an average Hitmen team.
  12. I'm with you, puck possession is key in today's game. The problem with that is Fowler tends to be over conservative, so even if he has guys streaking through the neutral zone, he can be too hesitant to give up the puck if he isn't sure the pass will connect. If Zellweger ends up being a more aggressive version of Fowler I would be pretty happy with that. I think he has the tools to be a better power play QB too.
  13. I agree, there are some similarities to the way Fowler plays in the defensive zone though. With the puck he also values puck possession and doesn't get forced into bad plays, so you will see this kid circle back into the zone if there are no options. However, he's definitely a more aggressive offensive threat than Fowler.
  14. One of the positives about Zellweger is that he's comfortable on both sides of the ice, so long term Anaheim might see him on the right side since quality right side D can be hard to find. I believe Thrun and Lacombe both play left.
  15. I think it's probably a decent comparison, though Zellweger relies more on stick checking and Girard isn't afraid to play the body more. That could come more naturally as he gets older and bulks up. But I'm sure there will be some people on here that are upset we drafted another 'soft' defenseman like Fowler lol.
  16. Not a terrible pick. Offensive, mobile defenseman that plays on both sides of the ice. He might top out as a second pair guy but that's probably ok for the 34th overall pick.
  17. This is actually a good point. Ron Francis made some bizarre picks yesterday IMO. I wonder if he makes another one.
  18. It should be an interesting day tomorrow either way. I'm high on Guenther but I'm biased, all of the guys you listed are likely going to be good NHL players.
  19. Why would they not just sign them as UFAs next week, and select other players from Edmonton and Dallas. Is there just no other players they want on those teams? Or did those teams send something to Seattle in exchange for taking their UFAs who were going to walk anyway?
  20. The thing with Tarasenko is that we know he wants out. So Seattle could put a trade package together using assets they get from all the side deals for the ED, and also take Dunn in the ED.
  21. This upcoming season is the year Mahura needs to start with the big club and prove himself. He should be playing ahead of Larsson at least. I'm guessing we will see something like Fowler/Manson, Lindholm/Drysdale, Mahura/Shattenkirk assuming we don't move any of the other defensemen.
