  1. What is up with Columbus though? All their big guys didn't want to resign or want out over the last few years.
  2. If the reports are true, we essentially give Seattle a 6th round pick in exchange for selecting a pending ufa. We make out like bandits on this one imo. Besides, Bob was able to take a pending ufa and a 6th round pick and create enough value out of that for Seattle to get their guy. And some are hating that?
  3. Do you really think Drysdale is going to play for the big club? I'm not sold on this just yet. Also, some seem to be complaining that Bob lost Fluery and it's a bad move. Idk Hawk +6th is pretty good. Sure he played well but I'm sure there must have been some kind of deal in place when we got him or that was just the plan. Seems like a pretty brilliant one to me if that's all we lose. If anything, I'd give Bob a gold star for his efforts here. Assuming that's the actual pick. Yeah we probably could have protected him but if there was a deal in place how would we be able to do that? Idk in a vacuum it seems like a very good move.
  4. Yes, that's actually some of the rumors on what some teams might do.
  5. ***conspiracy theory alert**** Something happened between Henrique and FrenchyD during the season which caused Henry to be waived. It seemed like a pretty strange move to just flat out waive the guy. Now I think we're past the point of keeping him around, which seemed pretty obvious especially considering they were trying to trade him. As mentioned by others, he's still a productive 20 to 25 goal guy. Yeah his contract isn't great, but for the time being and his production it's not that bad... yet. So I think Bob needs to move him asap. And he's likely worked out a deal for Seattle to take him. Now by protecting Frenchy he's essentially saying as a parting wave that the organization sides with FrenchyD. That's why he protected him and not others. ****conspiracy over
  6. What are the chances Bob picks up Parise?
  7. Ahhhemmm.... I like the roster buuuut.... where's the Grantzlaf?!!! 🤣🤣🤣 In all seriousness though, who's going to be picked in the expansion draft? You might have a good idea but we still don't know who we're going to lose. That top 4 is pretty weak as well. Maybe pick up Vats or another veteran off free agency? I like the idea of Tarasenko and Kuzy together but we all know GMBM probably wouldn't do it because of all the character issues not to mention the Russian aspect. But that would be an exciting change. We need Perry or someone like him more though I think. Look at Montreal, the kids seem to really enjoy his company and he looks to have helped them grow. We need that. But changes to our core need to be made as well. I don't think selling off is the right move either. We need to actually take advantage of this time where we have cap space and teams are desperate. Look at where we were when we didn't have space, teams were looking to abuse us. Now we have the upper hand. We should capitalize on the chances. We're a ways from contention but I agree with others, you do those trades when the chances come because they don't come around often. A timely trade or two could go a long way in terms of our rebuild. In this environment we should be winning our trades given our circumstances. So even if Bob is in charge it shouldn't matter. We need to not be idle.
  8. Given the trajectory of this draft class and if we keep our pick, I'd like for us to choose the player with the highest ceiling who might take longer to develop. Seems like all the guys from this class won't play in the nhl this next season anyway. And if we're not going to contend, why not take the guy who's going to be ready in say 2-3 years when we'll actually be making the push towards contention. I don't know the players specifically but I'm just saying we should go in that direction. Maybe even move down to get more picks?
  9. I'd like to see that. On paper it seems like a really good pairing but with Fowler you never know. Maybe Lindholm-drysdale?
  10. If I remember correctly, he went coast to coast a few times going through the whole opposing team. He was pretty fun to watch but I feel like Drysdale has been more exciting. Maybe it's just that we haven't had much to cheer for lately... hopefully he keeps developing and becomes a really great player for us.
  11. I'm pretty sure those contacts were signed after the cup wins. Kings are garbage. And always will be lol. But seriously, we were the better team overall for the past decade + since our cup win, except for their 2 runs. What have they even done lately? Everyone in the media was always saying how they need to rebuild but they kept putting it off. So what? They're a better team than us because they sucked so long? Lol I'd rather be us. We haven't been nearly as bad as they have. Besides, the Oilers are now great because they've been at the bottom of the dumpster burning for almost a decade. What's so great about that? So while we were one of the most consistent teams in the league in terms of making the playoffs other teams wallowed in the shadows getting picks. It was us and the hawks for a few years as to the real cup finals. Kings are trash.
  12. Hmmm interesting. Why did he drop? Maybe it was something during the interview?
  13. Nah, he probably will resign with the Habs. He seems to work well and I'm sure there will be mutual interest in bringing him back. Unless he decides to help every underdog get a chance to go to the finals and win before he retires. But I think he'll retire a duck, if only on a one day contract. Go Habs!
  14. Yeah but you're only really saying that because of what Suzuki and Caufield have become. This is a 20/20 hindsight kind of issue.
  15. We're not paying him 6 mil. It's 6 mill counted against the cap.
  16. But he also went to the worlds and did fine there as well. Sure he's no star but I think he's got more to give in a full season.
  17. The injury to Eichel definitely hurts his value as well as his public displeasure with the organization. It's now known he wants out. The Pronger deal also included 1st round picks that weren't this high in the draft. You can't say a 20s pick is the same as a top 3. If we give them our 2 first rounders we'd be crazy.
  18. I agree, that's too much. I'd trade the 3rd overall but to give them several 1st rounders and guys who were chosen in the first round is too much. I'd like to see progress, not trade away the future for one guy.
  19. Agreed. I don't want to set us back by acquiring a big names player by giving away Z or Dry. Comtois for Eichel I would do but not those other two. So I'm not sure why some people seem to think that we're talking about giving away the farm for Eichel. If we don't give away our future I think we should do the trade.
  20. Ummm... you do realize you're looking at a guys stats on the BUFFALO SABRES?! Lol show me someone on the ducks even close to that production.... and buffalo was last and we were second to last. I'd give a guy 10 mil if he's that good to earn it. It's like saying, I don't want McDavid. Lol
  21. Eichel is an interesting case. On one hand we don't have the pieces to support him with, yet. On the other, what choice does he have? What teams would be willing/ able to take on his contract? All bottom feeders basically. The relationship with buffalo seems to have soured pretty bad. Anaheim is waaaaay better to live in than buffalo. If you're gonna be at the bottom, at least you can tan on the beach lol. Our issue is also that this draft is basically playing the lotto, even at 3. These guys I'm hearing could just end up being 2nd or 3rd liners. Or become first line players, no one really knows for sure. I'd highly consider the trade proposal mentioned earlier, our 3rd overall, Comtois and Henrique. I doubt that would be enough but if that really is enough then I go for that trade regardless if I have a supporting cast or not. Number 1 centers are rarely available and there's no guarantee our pick becomes one. We may look back at this draft and find that someone picking at 16 got a first liner... no one really knows for sure. If he's healthy I wouldn't be upset that we traded for him. We also don't know what our new assistants are able to get out of the players. You never know, maybe a different systems structure could do wonders for Steel for example. This whole team is a wild card at this point. I still think we get better by process of elimination (assistants) but probably pick top 10. If Eichel is here I think we may be border line playoffs team with room to grow.
  22. Lol I hope not. Those guys were not effective at all. Send them to coach somewhere in Antarctica or something.
  23. Yes, but.... In terms of value for franchises, the overall value has gone up for all the teams. What you could argue with Vegas is their value also isn't like Arizona, for example, because they've had success and have been a good story so people are interested in the team and their merch. Suppose Vegas came out and played as bad as we had this year, do you think that franchise would be as good to market? There is also all the team owners. Don't you think they all sat down and discussed the terms? I'm sure when they heard what the amount was and what each team would get they were fine with the conditions. It is a business after all. I think Vegas should have had a player poached in the entry draft. The problem is though that Seattle was supposed to come into the league last year and due to the circumstances wasn't able to be ready for this past season in time. So that really benefited Vegas more than anyone else because they could get that much better without having to worry about the expansion draft. I think they'd have to of had a different approach to the season if that were eligible, but it is what it is. I do think they paid more for those terms than previous franchises but it was also in the league's best interest to start a franchise on a more favorable ground. There was also a lot of smart moves made by Vegas and I don't think anyone expected them to be as good as they have. Time will tell if Seattle will be in the same boat. Vegas was kind of a laughing stock before they even started. Who's laughing now? They've become a destination for free agents in only a few short years. Then we can also point out and say that their top players almost came out of nowhere. Who would have thought Karlsson would be a top line winger? Was Theodore a 1st paring defenceman? Was MAF a vezina caliber goalie. Stop trying to make it seem that Vegas bought themselves an all star dream team for 600 million.
