  1. I'd be down for that trade, assuming he's able to get healthy. If that's all that we'd give up that's a steal.
  2. 🤣🤣🤣100% sarcasm. You'd be crazy.... wait... But technically kase was in the playoffs and none of the guys GMBM got went to the playoffs this year... burn this whole place to the ground!!!
  3. Agree with everything especially the bolded. We didn't have anyone transition into top line players which was one thing we've talked about before even the Perry buyout and Getzy as well. We're only now finally being able to see our future. I understand his role but you could also look at a lot of other players around the league who were really good in their prime and on the tail end of their careers who became 3rd and 4th line players who didn't earn a rep like Pears. He seemed to thrive again with less pressure I think. He's not mvp level but you could argue he's been one of the catalysts for the Habs and the Stars in their runs. But I agree, he was never going to be that guy for this team at this stage. His contract was too expensive for the production he brought. And like you said, because his contract was so high he had to play top line minutes. A shame our transition couldn't have happened sooner. Looking at Getzy and his production he should honestly be in the same position as Perry to succeed.
  4. What's interesting for me is seeing how Perry continues to score in meaningful games. He's being mentioned a lot as a key piece in their run. And he's still continuing to receive credit for the Stars playoff run last year. Wasn't one of the knocks on Pears while with our team was that he wasn't a big game player? I mean he scores but wasn't that one of the things said during the BB era? Or am I remembering things incorrectly? So if it was a knock on his game, has he kind of become that player that shows up big in the playoffs? I mean you listen to the praise he's getting and it's almost like 'if you want to go far in the playoffs you get him' kind of guy. Kind of like how Williams was mr game 7. Has Perry reached that point in his career where he's known as a playoff performer? If they get past the jets, and it looks like that's a lock (but you never know lol), and Perry helps get them to the finals I think he will be known as 'that playoff guy.' What do you guys think? Because at this point it would be awesome for the Habs to win it all!
  5. Sure. But they kept at it and got better as the tournament went along. Comtois and Hank played a pretty big role on the team. I understand that two Senators combined for the winning goal but the two Ducks weren't mentioned much together. Oh well, they didn't play much meaningful hockey this season but at least they go home as world champions. I'm more excited what that's going to do for Comtois and his confidence going into next year knowing that not only did they win but he contributed significantly to their overall success. He was our leading scorer this year and I hope he continues to grow.
  6. Oh no we keep our pick at 3. I meant we should try to get in more than one first round pick but I'm not sure how we'd be able to do that though.
  7. I agree, we should definitely try to get in more than one first round pick. I mean this draft could be hit or miss but we draft top 3, which should be a great player regardless of who we get, but also we might hit on someone who could have been a great pick but because of this season won't get noticed.... or... or just pick up someone who normally would go in the third round or something...🤔🤷‍♂️
  8. If development is our problem though once we give up on a player wouldn't another team pick him up in the hopes of developing them if they were also high on that guy? Or does it just become too late to develop them? Like it seems that other teams, including ours, usually never pick up guys who develop after a team's given up on them. Maybe we just don't get them to that next level in their development once they become nhlers. The only thing is that we don't hit on many forwards after the first round. I found the video, the hockey guy mentions it. Apparently it was in an athletic article? So he listed the top 4 and bottom 4 in drafting from 2005 to 2015. The top 4: Tampa, Carolina, Rangers and Ducks. In that order. Bottom 4: Colorado, Flyers, Canucks and..... Oilers (no surprise there!).
  9. I thought a saw a list, maybe it was sports net but not sure, where they showed top five teams for drafting outside the 1st round and had us at number 5. So we can't be that bad at drafting especially compared to other teams.
  10. I don't think that's how it works though. If Arizona gets first they will just redraw their pick.
  11. Why would we add something significant to dump a guy who doesn't make that much to begin with? Grant isn't perfect but he plays on the fourth line. He also had somewhat of a down year. Changes need to be made for the roster that's for sure. Any word on the assistants though? I can't believe it's taken this long to get rid of them. That's making me nervous, if we go into another year of the three stooges systems...
  12. Could you just imagine leafs nation if they lose?! Lol the media wouldn't let them forget about it, which would really suck for the players.
  13. At this point I'm thinking whichever team ends up winning the series, the jets probably win. I'm still hoping for a Montreal win. Nice to see Perry score and be in on some key moments for goals and plays. But this has been a meltdown for the leafs. I'm not sure how much confidence they have left after this. Habs need to keep up a physical style and go hard to the dirty areas.
  14. I'd still say it's a toss up for whichever way the call goes but I'd have to think that teams saw that as a way to possibly negate a goal in that situation.
  15. It does look very deliberate from that point of view. I think it just came down to the fact that he was in the blue paint. Who ultimately made the call? The refs or Toronto?
  16. But it also looked like he didn't make much of an attempt to move out either. Like I said it looks 50-50 for that reason. But had he made a bigger effort to move and was still pushed toward the goalie it would probably count. But he was skating around in the blue paint and though he might have been tied up he didn't fight for position.
  17. I think it's 50-50 honestly. He shouldn't have been in the blue paint and he was completely in it at one point. Goalie should have free range of motion inside the blue paint and was prevented for being able to do that.
  18. Lol I know the dislike for steel but I believe he's "scored" more than Jones to this point in their careers. But they're still young, I think if he doesn't show anything next year then we probably need to trade him.
  19. I'm rooting for Montreal to win it all. Last year I followed the stars, this year the Canadiens. It's really the only team I half cheer for until Perry leaves lol. But that should be a really good series I think. Hoping the leafs get spanked🤣
  20. It's an exit interview. His reflections on the season. He doesn't have to be hyped up talking about the things that didn't go well this season. It seems like you're just searching for things that help you continue your dislike for him. As for the Henrique exit interview, I thought it was interesting that he mentioned signing in Anaheim knowing that there was a rebuild possible. I'm sure waiving him was pretty bad but it seems to me like he's motivated. He mentioned that he's going to play in the worlds. Hopefully, if he's not gone this off season, that he comes back rejuvenated. Maybe Eakins was referring to the negativity that surrounded the team for a few weeks was about Henrique. Something was going on that he admits got out of hand and the team had a lot of negative energy surrounding the players. Hopefully that's all passed and I hope the players come ready to play next season.
  21. I agree. Our pp alone next year should kill our hopes for a top pick. We were exceptionally bad. I'm not sure why the assistants were kept this long. I think we're probably closer to a bubble team but who knows. Maybe something to what the kings were this year, ok and could challenge for the last spot before falling out. If we want to pick high then we keep our coaching staff. 🤣 Not to mention if we can be relatively injury free then we also will be better. There's just too many things going wrong this year. I just don't think we can really bank on next year's top pick. More likely we're picking around 10th I think.
  22. Bob isn't a terrible GM. If we decide not to get rid of him I won't be too upset. It could be worse. I mean Chiarelli is available...🤣
  23. You know an interesting point is brought up regarding jerseys. Outside of hockey, or casual fans, or someone who doesn't watch at all, what jerseys are recognizable? Kings, Rangers, Red Wings, Pens, Canadiens, and Leafs? Maybe a few others. The old egg plant jersey was pretty recognizable I think. People who aren't fans of hockey wear gear because it looks cool. We're honestly not up there with those other teams in terms of our current jerseys. I like the orange, don't get me wrong, but I'd like to see a change, especially our current webbed D logo. Oh yeah, there's also Vegas. We need to breathe some life into this franchise.
  24. I watched his send off at the end of the game and I gotta say, he was never a key player here but I kinda felt for the guy though. You could see his emotion and I'm glad he got the proper send off. It was also not in the feed but after all the blues players congratulated him they said they were going over to Miller who was backing up last night and congratulated him as well. Classy move. I think he wasn't in the lineup more mainly because he was just more of a cap dump from the Bruins in that trade. So I think the organisation never valued him much and probably viewed many other players over him. Maybe in a normal season we would have seen him play more because he has the cap hit and I'd be difficult for us but who knows. Maybe if he had played all the games this season we might actually have awarded him the 1000 games in one of the games against the blues. But it was noticable how a lot of the guys, especially the younger ones were hugging him. Comtois is a good example of that. It's really too bad that it had to end this way but congrats to him on a great career!
