  1. https://sports.yahoo.com/long-term-outlook-ducks-160556520.html Based on this article alone. Check out our scoring levels the past two years and Gibson's numbers overall. We've only outscored Detroit the past two years and..... that's it, only Detroit. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ I rest my case there. No one could save us so please stop bashing him.
  2. Unless we get a better assistant coach who actually knows what a good pp looks like. Scoring could go through the roof. "Oh so you're saying we don't have to pass it around on the perimeter and eventually just lose it? Sounds like it might work but our previous coach was pretty adamant that was a good plan..... ok hold on... *goal horn goes off* what was that?" ๐Ÿ˜‚
  3. Nic Del is number 10 in goal scoring on the team. The only rookie who has more goals is mad max. Ok ok so he had a hat trick.... but seriously our fourth line, if you also included the general himself, is our second best scoring line as a trio. That doesn't bode well for the team, especially going forward. We need our second and third lines to contribute more. It's embarrassing having our fourth line outscore half the team.... hopefully, and I think we've seen some positive views, the new guys can continue to contribute.
  4. I agree. We need to get younger guys that can produce. But as of this moment, which is what was said that we don't have anyone with that potential besides Rakell, I have to disagree. Henrique and Silfverberg have that potential right now as well as Rakell but in the future? Idk. If we don't get more scorers into the lineup we'll be the worst offensive team I'm a few years we agree on that. It's also been brewing in my mind thinking back to the days of HCBB. When we weren't scoring, they changed their strategy to be defense first and we won the Jennings I believe that year. Why haven't we implemented the same strategy? We're not going to outscore our opponents so why not tighten up and grind out the games? This strategy would help our younger guys to work on the defensive side of the game at this level. Plus, I believe our offense would come with that and we'd have guys who would be great two way players. So I'm not sure why we don't, or is it that we can't? Or is it the coach(s) who can't? BB successfully did that and he's known more of an offensive coach. So why doesn't Dallas do the same? To me our games and losses are more of a systems issue, besides scoring of course! Thoughts?
  5. I'm rooting for Cogs. But honestly I'm looking for number 10 the whole time. I hope he can have a really good season and continue to play beyond this year.
  6. That was an awesome soccer style play! He's the reason I actually watch Philly highlights. I'm always looking for his number on the ice and watching him make plays. Same with the stars, I only watch them for Perry.
  7. They're actually the only other team I somewhat follow so I can see how Perry is doing. +1 for the cupliano๐Ÿ˜‚
  8. He didn't remove his helmet during the Russian anthem.
  9. All three cali teams at the bottom tied in points. There is no way any make the playoffs unless a miracle run happens. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
  10. I hope not. He still has one more year. Let's not get ahead of ourselves and shoot ourselves in the foot once more. Wait until the season is underway next year and see what we got then. Otherwise, we might sign him then regret the contract, again.
  11. I was reading the athletic article about Hall. Don't worry, he's not going to even consider coming here lol. He squirted water at then Edmonton HCDE and he wasn't too happy about that. If any devils player has a chance to come here it's vats. I'd definitely want him to come back!
  12. Oh that's right. I keep thinking he's a center. Never mind then lol
  13. Getzlaf is on the downside of his career and we really need a real top line center. At this point, I'm not sure we really have that guy in our system. Hall seems to be available. Perhaps we can trade for him? I'd think a first, kase, and Richie (perhaps more, I'm not sure) could potentially land us Hall. Aside from Terry, Grant and Guhle getting raises all the other guys aren't going to command much/ will leave for free agency. Even with Perry's cap hit going up significantly, we should have enough space to do this. After next season the hit from Perry will go down and Getz contract is also up. In the meantime, it would give us crazy center depth and perhaps a run at the cup. Or we do nothing and try to get that top center with another high pick at the end of the year! It's far cheaper this way. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  14. Good for Perry! I smiled through the whole video. Getzlaf's words hurt a little though, wish they could have both hit 1k together.
  15. With that kind of production, I think this might be Perry's last year.
  16. Interesting. I seem to remember BM managing LTIR kind of like the cap. Was it last year or the year before that he had the opportunity to put Eaves (?) on LTIR for cap relief but opted not to so it wouldn't handcuff the team later in the year. I remember reading an article about why it was done that way but can't seem to remember how it worked. So I did a quick search and there seems to be a couple of things. The contract won't be approved by the nhl because it would put the team over the cap. But as the quote above also shows, I guess it factors in LTIR. But in the event that a team does go over there is apparently up to a 5 million fine and possible draft picks. There is also the possibility the team forfeits games until they become compliant. So all this brings us to the teams that are currently over. They must be cap compliant, otherwise the league wouldn't approve Marners signing for example. I remember Bob also having to wait to announce/ sign a player until we became cap compliant to do so.
  17. Yes they have LTIR but they can only be 10% over the cap by the start of the season. If they're not then there's a cap penalty I believe. And you can't put guys on LTIR during the summer either.
  18. I thought it was the opposite. Hmm must not remember any more. Either way, they don't want to worsen the situation by saying Laine is a jerk. So downplaying and saying everything is good will keep the Jets with the upper hand in case a trade happens. If other teams know that the situation is bad, they will play to that and try to lower the value. Who knows? Sakic had a pretty big issue with Dushesne (sp?) and still got a very good trade that they won hands down (lol Ottawa).
  19. This whole situation reminds me of Bobby Ryan (who? Lol). Yeah that B Ry. I remember him not being happy about the split from the twins. They had him be the star on his own line and if I remember correctly, we didn't have that real second line center yet. Anyway, I'm not sure how long Laine lasts in the Peg. I guess these kinds of things can be resolved and he continues his career there but potentially with the idea that he will be traded.
  20. I did some calculations and here are the minutes played for every point scored. Perry- 23.07 Playoffs- 24.18 Pavelski- 23.89 Playoffs- 27.47 Though both players took a hit in the playoffs Pavelski was worse. But if you compare them before Perry started dropping off you will probably notice a bigger difference. Though Pavelski is a steal in that draft.
  21. I was looking at and comparing Perry and Pavelski. They have a pretty similar career. Goals, assists and points wise they are really close. Perry has way more penalty minutes though. But as I looked a little closer Perry had a higher ceiling. He cracked 50 goals and had more points in his prime. But the drop off in his play the last few years was much more noticeable. Pavelski has been far more consistent even though his ceiling wasn't as high as perry's. But I think Perry played a far more physical game and paid the price through nagging injuries and such. Overall, I think Pavelski had a good career so far. Perry also had a good career, but I think the big drop in points and production as well as having that contract has hurt his image a bit. Even though I would say he was the better player of the two over the course of his career. Perry would still be a duck if it wasn't for that contract. I think BM weighed the contract to his production and looked at the kids and saw better value and more potential at this point. I just wanted to point out the comparison because I came across it and thought how similar their overall production was for their career. Oh and Perry's place on the all time ducks lists and Pavelski's on the sharks is almost the same! It's quite an interesting comparison.
  22. Yes, this is my biggest complaint against BM. I'm not asking him to go all out and land big time FA. What I don't like is trading picks to pick up players who for the most part are redundant/ head scratchers. Carter Rowney who? Was last year. As are others. Then we trade them again. What's the point? This same logic applies top Cogliano. Why? We let grant go at the end of last year, then trade for him again. What's the point? He still never found a left winger for the twins. He always picks up at least one pylon on the blue line. I'm not even going to get into the wiz biz trade. Stoner was signed to a strange contract that we also had to give a player to take him instead of someone else. Sure we had to give up somebody, but you have to give more to get rid of contracts like that. Bieksa was also a head scratcher in the NMC. We hardly ever kept players who were effective after the trade deadline. But stocking up on redundant 3rd and 4th liners is a must. I don't get it. If he picked up REAL GOOD 3rd and 4th liners that would be another story but usually it's from the bargain bin. I'm beginning to suspect it's not the owners policy or our budget. It's BM thinking he's going to get a steal and more often than not it's a fake picasso and not the real one that gets pulled out. Though he seems to think it's the real one.
  23. You can bet it does! Think of how many players he can pick up with that extra cap.
  24. He's not washed up. He's just not able to play up to the contract anymore. He had over 50 pts two years ago. Last year he was out most of the year and was trying to catch up to everyone else who were already playing at full speed. But to say that he's washed up is really naive. Heatley, who Bob picked up was washed up. Perry is not at that point yet.
