  1. “Wiesblatt’s puck-hounding skills and ability to find players in open space or even while defended who can put a good shot on net is absolutely next-level stuff and served Prince Albert well in their 2018 run for the memorial cup, and in 2019 it’s only gotten better as he’s taken up the reigns as one of the three leaders in points and goals for the Green and Black. The way he looks off defenders in the notoriously stingy WHL, combined with a shocking level of skating speed, he’s able to force defenses to react to him rather than him react to how the defense, which has served the Raiders well. The scariest part of that speed is how he uses it; he absolutely can blow by defenders if he so chooses, but his favorite thing to do is quickly adjust speed and tempo in his skating to keep them guessing what he’s doing and where he’s going, and then open up further space for his fellow linemates to go occupy. And that’s before you see his pretty strong shot that he can get the best use of around the hashmarks. When he’s on his horse, he’s next to unstoppable. Of course, the part that makes him such a delight to watch for some scouts is that Wiesblatt’s not just an offensive dynamo; his physicality and willingness to take a hit is what makes him so dangerous, and his ability to get back on defense and play the body has made him one of those players who’s a nightmare to play against, and can get under the opponent’s skin. Not necessarily as an intentional, Marchand-type pest, but he can frustrate teams to the point of getting players entirely off their game to go after him. Which he’ll happily take and encourage. He’ll also happily toss a fist or a shove into a defender to stir some trouble up if the opportunity presents itself.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.stanleycupofchowder.com/platform/amp/2020/6/1/21251144/draft-profiles-2k20-ozzy-wiesblatt-prince-albert-raiders-hockey-boston-bruins Wiesblatt seams to be a lot more of a complete player than Etem ever was, Etem was scouted as a Grabner type speedster with a shot. Wiesblatt seems a lot shiftier, way more physical and has playmaking ability.
  2. I don’t think he’s slow, I don’t know where you’re seeing that he’s slow, all his scouting reports say he has wheels. he’s got a weird stride, but that’s coach able, he’s also not tiny and weak, he’s pretty tough and physical for his size.
  3. Wiesblatt is a RW who converted to C, so ideally you can play him both, or whatever you may need in 2-3 years. I really like Amirov, I know BM never drafts Russian guys and it’s always a bit risky with the KHL, but dude has it.
  4. How would y’all feel about trading Rakell or Silfverberg to Montreal for 16th Overal + prospect With that, we could potentially walk away from this draft with Rossi Amirov Wiesblatt/Wallinder Niemela just from the first two rounds.
  5. I guess Jake Debrusk is swirling around in the rumor mill. 23 years old and seems like a 40point guy. Wouldn’t hate adding him, zero idea what the cost would be.
  6. Backes was actually pretty good for us, looking at his advanced statistics. As for Perry, I wouldn’t hate it, but he probably wants to win, I would rather keep the spot for a kid to hopefully earn.
  7. I don’t know why’d you’d trade Eichel, I can’t imagine Lafreniere gets better than Eichel.
  8. Mock drafts are relatively meaningless, but Pronman doesn’t have Wiesblatt going until 34th overall, which is 2 picks before our second rounder. I wouldn’t mind taking him 27th, especially considering we have 36. Marco Rossi Ozzy Wiesblatt Topi Niemela Jean-Luc Foudy I would feel so good coming from this draft with these four. Rossi - All around dynamo Wiesblatt - offensive, explosive, physical Center/RW with some hands Niemela - Fowler-like defensemen playing against men, he’s RH, can skate and smart. Foudy - fast skating, undersized forward with some flash.
  9. Weisblatt could be available at 27. I am also in on Rossi.
  10. Love his grit, the puck handling skills, and explosiveness. The comparison to Konecny gets me really excited.
  11. Like if you want to take Wallinder after you take one of the forwards, I guess that’s okay. I’ve been digging and I really like Ozzy Wiesblatt with our 27th overall. C/RW with solid offensive talent. I think taking a D makes sense in 3rd-4th round considering Murray’s ability to get NHL D man in the later rounds.
  12. Most mock drafts have us taking 3 defensemen. Which I would scream. I don’t mind taking Drysdale, but if we take Wallinder when Perrault or Wiesblatt are available I’ll be upset.
  13. I like Kotkaniemi; but I actually think the Ducks would be better off drafting Rossi/Raymond/Holtz/Perfetti/Drysdale Ducks need someone to drive offense, Kotkaniemi isn’t really that.
  14. I think at max he probably gets 10. Which is a lot, but next couple sod years we’re getting a lot of cap space freed up. I’m already seeing signs of improvement from Laine, so I think k he’ll develop further.
  15. I don’t think Laine was mad he wasn’t playing with good players, j believe he was frustrated at not playing with the players he played best with and getting reduced minutes. I could be wrong though. of course a 30-40 goal scorer isn’t going to become available without some wrinkles. And this is never going to happen, just fun to “what if” while we wait almost a full calendar year for the Ducks to play again.
  16. The Jets are trying to win now, so while Rico’s contract might be eh, if they can get a Top 4 D and potential 30 goal second line center, that might be worth it. Not to mention, they know they’re going to have to resign Laine as well. 2 years of Manson and 3-4 out of Rico while their competing is valuable. That’s just what you do in a rebuild, why not try and a for sure thing in Laine, who’s young as well?
  17. The thing is, what WPG needs is 2 things we have, that we probably need to trade anyway. Henrique is older and makes decent money Manson is getting older and will probably require a raise Laine makes way more sense for this team than Manson/Rico imo. He’s only 22. In 3-4 years when we’re competing again he’d be in the middle of his prime. I think adding Laine puts us closer to the playoffs and completing the rebuild than not adding him or trading these two guys for middling prospects or picks. The biggest hang up is whether we can get it done without 6th Ovrall pick. Although getting Laine and Quinn/Amirov/potentially even Holtz/Rossi If they slide might be better than Rossi/Drysdale/Raymond/Holtz etc
  18. His stats are trending upwards, he’s not as bad without the puck and his playmaking is improving. I know this team isn’t as good, but it’s not a team of nobodies. The team just sucked at concerting chances, it’s not like they didn’t get them. Terry, Getzlaf, Zegras are all guys who are looking to feed pucks to guys. i think he’ll probably get Nylander money, 8-9 Aav which we can afford after next season. I don’t think the Samueli’s care, they probably care more that this team is exciting to watch and Laine is super marketable, not to mention Finnish Flash 2.0 marking abilities. I think they’ll be okay. I think Laine’s woes are a bit Exaggerated. Murray should be interested. As I’ve said, Manson and Henrique are both guys I can’t imagine being here very long, their age and salaries probably don’t allow it. Instead of getting a couple picks and maybe midrange prospects, put them together and try and get a bonafide Star, one we don’t have.
  19. I also think looking at his numbers. he scored 2 less goals last season than the season before and added 15 more assists in 14 less games. He also scored 20 of his goals even strength and was a + player. He had more hits and takeaways, pointing towards being more engaged away from the puck. He had more assists than Getzlaf and more goals than Henrique. I say bet on yourself. I also think moving down 4 spots may not be the worst thing. I would much rather not do that of course and that would be my last option. if you can’t bet on your ability to coach a 22 year old 30-40 goal scorer, what are you doing as a team?
  20. That’s fair, I don’t think his discontent is because of the team, I remember him being upset he wasn’t playing with the person he wanted to play with, but I don’t know if it would carry over here as well. Maybe living in Sunny SoCal helps, who knows. Not like it’s gonna happen, just the fun fad to day dream about.
  21. I think not many 40 goal scorers are going to make you feel very good in other areas. Also not many 21 year old 40 goal scorers hit the market. It’s not like he can’t develop more. He’s only 21. Getting a guy like Rossi, Perfetti who drive play and carry control into the zone with a guy like Laine who can laser it home every time is ideal. I know he sucks at defense and doesn’t drive play, but he scores, easily. I think you can build a team with him on it to suit that. Imagine a Terry- Getzlaf-Laine Powerplay! Laine changes this franchise so much, I personally find his personality hilarious, and he’s still young, I don’t mind taking some personality issues with 40 goals. We have the pieces to make the move, are they the best pieces? No, but not many teams can give WPG a top 4 RHD AND a second line center. Manson is on a good contract and you can probably bet on being happy pairing him with Morrissey. Rico can score 30 goals and play in any situation. my excitement is that this is a legitimate star, who’s young that the Ducks have a legitimate shot at being able to get. Manson and Henrique are both pieces that probably need to be moved in general. Add Mahura Or someone like that and your second 1st round pick. That’s not a bad deal either way.
