    So, the Laine on the trade block rumors are back and I would kill for BM to send Manson + for Laine.

    We need RHD and I’m sure we can make a trade, hopefully not as bad as the GK trade, and keep what we want. Vats probably won’t absolutely break the bank and gives some stability to the blue line. I love him as well. We need a blast from the point and he provides that. I know we’re kind of cap strapped a bit because of the idiotic Perry buyout, but I think standing pat is a bad idea and worst case scenario you can trade Vatd and probably get a good haul back. from the sounds of it there was a bidding war and from what I’ve read Murray was out pretty early so that’s commendable. I would love to take advantage of Toronto and get something good, but I don’t want there middle-bottom six forwards for Manson. If Djoos can play as well as he did for us last year, I think you should package some of these LHD for some picks or prospects. I pike Mahura and I’m baffled that he’s played well almost every time he’s been up, but Larsson gets picked over him every time.

    There any free agents you guys would like to target? I love the idea of reuniting with Vatanen. Or even buying low on Tyson Barrie. That gives us a pretty good second RHD and stability, while also making it easier to trade Manson. Lindholm - Manson Fowler - Vatanen/Barrie Djoos/Mahura/literally 100 other people - ???

    Smart move. Kapanen isn’t that good. He’s a bottom six guy.

    I think Backes is gonna be a decent addition, metrics had him being a good fourth line center for us, but if Kapanen can fetch a first on his own, why couldn’t we get more. I have to assume it’s name recognition and injury history, but Kase is a better player. Another frustrating trade of a young player who might be very good for the team who has him.

    There’s always a GM willing to make a stupid trade for a player I want lol. Can’t believe the massive overpayment, especially considering what Kase fetched for us. Looking at you BM

    Nylander has been largely great, other than his shortened hold out year. I have full confidence in Nylander’s ability. Kapanen I’m not so high on, but scoring depth isn’t nothing.

    I’d flip Larsson for Kapanen all day and twice on Sunday, but as a key piece for a big move no. I think if you can grab Nylander AND Kapanen, I think that does a lot for the team. Faster and more offensively talented.

    I don’t understand this weird idea that you can only rebuild if you trade away literally everyone and everyone on your team has to be young. Lindholm and Fowler are Top 4 defensemen. Fowler is by far our most important player on the ice. They’ll be a little older when we’re back, but they can be vital pieces to this team.

    Team would be dumb to move Lindholm/Fowler imo.

    We need to move a LHD that’s for sure. Depending on how the new guy and Djoos play Mahura makes sense. Toronto is also pretty set on the left side with Muzzin/Reilly. I’d even be happy with taking a flier on Kapanen. Doesn’t move the neeedle much, but your adding young talent to the roster. I don’t know if Drysdale is Quinn/Hughes level, but adding a top 4 RHD to a core of Lindholm/Fowler doesn’t not help. Idk. Just think we should at least consider making some calls to a desperate team with a glutton of riches on the front end of the teams

    I just don’t see the harm in adding a young 30 goal scorer for a piece we might move anyway.

    Of course adding one or two of those guys doesn’t magically fix the team. But adding Nylander then add Drysdale in the draft. Zegras, Nylander, Drysdale which is pretty exciting. Then you have a veteran core of Fowler, Lindholm, Rakell, Gibson. Some potential in Steel, Comtois, Jones, Milano, Mahura, Tracey, Dostal, and more. Doesn’t fix the team over night, but it accelerates this teams rebuild drastically imo.

    If we end up with Drysdale, I think you have to have a long sit down about taking advantage of Toronto’s situation. They have to move one or two of Marner/Nylander/Kapanen/Tavares and some more. Idk about moving Manson without another RHD in the organization. But I think it’s a situation we absolutely need to try and get in on.

    I’d kill for a coach like Torts. freddie has always been good for at least 1 badly timed softy. Of course you gotta score, but Toronto was all over the BJ’s back breaking to give up a weak goal in that spot.

    Maybe it’s just me, but man is Connor McDavid such a boring player to watch. I know he has insane talent, generational really, but I remember so many Crosby plays or Lemieux plays. McDavid just winds it up, skates by everyone And roofs it every single time. I know that requires tons of talent, just super boring to watch for me.

    I don’t hate the idea of trading down to get Quinn if their board is gone. I haven’t done a lot of research on Quinn, but he put up a lot of points on a very good team away from Rossi.

    Drysdale Rossi Perfetti Holtz Quinn In the second or third round. I’d really like to take Jean-Luc Foudy underperformed, but has all the tools, just needs some work.

    So, what’s up with Jake Sanderson. I keep seeing him sneak into top 5-6’s ahead of Drysdale?

    I think ending up with Drysdale, Holtz, Perfetti, Rossi is going to be big for this team. I think there’s some gems in this draft too.

    I love that Holtz skates hard. Gives me a lot of faith he can improve in other areas. I’m definitely concerned about the fact he doesn’t get into high danger chances. Especially with that shot.

    Moving on from our #6. I saw a mock that had us taking Jean-Luc Foudy in the third and I think he could be a steal.
