  1. My mistake. I thought he was the '22 pick.
  2. Verbeek only got hired by the Ducks in February 2022. So he's been here about 14 months. I think it's a bit premature to place blame on him for the dumpster fire that is the Ducks. He chose McTavish in last year's draft, and so far that's turned out to be a good pick. It takes time to steer the Titanic away from the iceberg. I'm willing to give him some time. So long as Eakins is gone before the Cup Finals.
  3. I thought y'all were just joking when you kept mentioning the Tankathon site. Had no idea that one existed.
  4. 100% certainty that the same GM will be here. I think people on this board will C&*P their pants if the coaching staff is still around.
  5. This part of the rules is interesting: The 1st overall pick is awarded by a drawing of ping pong balls. A team can only jump ten spots, so only the top 11 teams are eligible for the 1st pick. If a team in the 12-16 range wins the first drawing, the first pick will remain with the worst team. So that's how the worst team gets such a high percentage chance. They're getting the odds from all the 12-16 teams, which are still part of the lottery, but ineligible for the #1 pick.
  6. The team with the worst record can pick no lower than 3rd, and there are 3 solid prospects in the Draft this year. Also, the team with the worst record, while not guaranteed the #1 pick, has a 25.5% chance to get it, which is almost double the 13.5% chance of the team with 2nd worst record, and 14% higher than the 11.5% chance of the team with 3rd worst. And as Gorbachav said, the Ducks are not that lucky, and I don't trust the lottery to give us Bedard even if we finish last. But miracles do happen, and at least we'd end up with a stud if we pick in the Top 3.
  7. 1. Anaheim - 56 Points - 5 Games Remaining - Max Possible 66 (18 Regulation Wins) 2. Chicago - 54 Points - 6 Games Remaining - Max Possible 66 (22 Regulation Wins) 3. Columbus - 56 Points - 6 Games Remaining - Max Possible 68 (22 Regulation Wins) 4. San Jose - 59 Points - 6 Games Remaining - Max Possible 71 (23 Regulation Wins) Chicago, Columbus & San Jose all in action on Tuesday.
  8. Here's a translation of one of the first replies that came up in Finnish: Shut up now Teemu, you can hide your eyes. "Community" has condemned the act and the perpetrator several times, it still does not justify attacking trans people. Will you separate it?
  9. What an idiot. Very disappointing. Thought he was more intelligent than that. I guess he's oblivious to the fact that most mass murderers in America nowadays are White Males. Putting politics aside, the reason she said what she did, is that jerks like him are now going to turn their blame on the Transgender community, which is already marginalized and targeted. Whether you agree with the whole Transgender thing, to lump them all together with this Murderer, is sad.
  10. Mr Bedard is going to be quite happy in Chicago for the next 10-20 years.
  11. I'm starting to come around to the belief that the worst team is going to end up with no more than 58-59 points. Unless Chicago & Columbus each win 2 of their remaining games, it's going to be tough for us to be in contention. We'd essentially have to finish the season on a 13 game losing streak in order to finish with less than 58. The only bright spot is that it appears we're in a good position to lose the tiebreaker, which is Regulation Wins.
  12. 1. Chicago - 54 Points - 6 Games Remaining - Max Possible 66 (22 Regulation Wins) 2. Anaheim - 56 Points - 6 Games Remaining - Max Possible 68 (19 Regulation Wins) 3. Columbus - 54 Points - 7 Games Remaining - Max Possible 68 (22 Regulation Wins) 4. San Jose - 59 Points - 6 Games Remaining - Max Possible 71 (23 Regulation Wins) Anaheim & Columbus back on the ice tomorrow. Thanks to San Jose winning again, it's closer to becoming a 3 team race for the worst record. If Chicago continues to play like they have been, the league may not even have to worry about it looking the least bit suspicious when they end up getting Bedard. I predicted months ago that Chicago is where he's going to end up rather than in a lesser market like Anaheim, Columbus or Arizona.
  13. If Verbeek really wanted to ensure the tank, he'd fire Eakins now, and take over behind the bench. You know, just to be sure.
  14. I've learned that on any given day, any team can beat another team. I mean, worst in the league Columbus took best in the league Boston to OT two nights ago, and the game was in Boston. My only concern is that Ducks have lost 6 in a row, so are due for a win.
  15. Thanks for posting that. Sounds like he has interest, but if he's going to, it's still a ways off.
  16. I realize that's an argument, but every coach has to start somewhere. Every coach has a Rookie year at some point. And there are plenty of former players who end up being quality coaches. Could he end up being a Gretzky or to use another example, a Magic Johnson? Sure. But he could also turn out to be a Ron Wilson, Dan Bylsma or Bruce Boudreau.
  17. I've thrown this name out there before, and it never seems to generate much discussion. Is it because nobody thinks it's anywhere near a possibility? Is it because people think that he would never want nor accept the position? Is it because people feel he would not make a good head coach, or that it might tarnish his legacy? The name is Scott Niedermayer. He's a Hall Of Famer, with multiple Stanley Cups. Known as an extremely intelligent defensive minded player, who during his illustrious career, could survey the ice like few others were capable of. He's been with the Ducks organization since the day he retired. Supposedly he's worked with the players on the team in recent months. His credentials mean he would command the utmost respect in the locker room. The moment he hung up his skates, I felt that the next chapter in his life, when he was ready, would be behind the bench. I can't help but believe that if he were announced as the new Head Coach, the support from Ducks fans, and in fact from around the league, would be overwhelming. As he is about to turn 50 this year, I'd say that if it's ever going to happen, the time is now. I don't know if the question has ever been posed to him, and if he's said he has zero interest, but I'd hope that if the Ducks do have a list of candidates in mind, his name is on it.
  18. Everybody's back on the ice Saturday. Chicago, Anaheim, San Jose all wrap up the season 2 weeks from tonight. Columbus picks up their extra game 2 weeks from tomorrow night. It could all come down to those 2 nights.
  19. 1. Chicago - 54 Points - 7 Games Remaining - Max Possible 68 (23 Regulation Wins) 2. Anaheim - 56 Points - 7 Games Remaining - Max Possible 70 (20 Regulation Wins) 3. Columbus - 54 Points - 8 Games Remaining - Max Possible 70 (23 Regulation Wins) 4. San Jose - 57 Points - 7 Games Remaining - Max Possible 71 (23 Regulation Wins) OT Win by San Jose, OT Loss by Columbus, Losses for Chicago & Anaheim
  20. That would be the most reprehensible thing he could do. There's NO WAY he'd be that stupid. The primary reason being that he could at the very least make a deal with the team holding the #2 pick, and get a great deal in a swap of picks. In fact, the other team would probably almost drop the phone if they were given the opportunity to trade up and get Bedard. Can you imagine though what it would look like if Bedard lived up to his billing, and Verbeek became known as the GM who could have gotten him, but passed?
  21. I looked over at the Game Day Thread for Columbus at HF Boards. Guess what they're talking about? There's a poster with a picture of himself wearing a Columbus jersey, and a paper bag superimposed over his head. And yeah, actively rooting for the tank, and disappointed that they got a point. And he's not alone. One of his last comments: f*** this team. I hate them all
  22. 2010 through 2013 were good picks. Of course, Cam was 12th and Lindholm 6th. The real dud was Ritchie at 10th.
