Lol at these non-calls in the FL-BOS game.

You gotta give it to the Bruins, I think it's amazing they're still in this. I was surprised they started the season without a replacement for Bergeron (& Krejci). But they did it and they did it pretty well. Pastrnak's goal scoring is down in the playoffs and they're missing Marchand.
I don't expect them to win this one but I did not expect it to go to 6 games.

Man, if it wasn’t for the Russian factor I would be 100% on board. But there is that factor. If they say he is potentially a Hedman or a Pronger, I think that is the type of player we need to round us out more. We have enough offensive puck moving D. We need a large grinder to move people around in front of the net and be that nasty guy. But is he worth the #3? This draft has me so conflicted.

Dean Letourneau is a 6’-7” C around the oilers 1st pick with really good numbers at st Andrews college 18UAAA (midget AAA?), not sure what that actually is with respect to  Canadian juniors. Can you imagine us getting both those guys? Yuuuge!

I can totally see the filthy blackhawks snatching him from under our nose. The molestors got Bedard last year. Some of their top prospects are Oliver moore, Frank nazar and colton dach. All forwards. I can see them go after a D man.

You can’t get outplayed that badly, which they have been for most of the series imo. If it continues then I think the Oilers are winning it. Silovs was great but I don’t see a goalie withstanding that kind of sustained pressure against this oilers team.

Vancouver has to be better or hope that Edmonton’s goaltending continues to be their downfall

If the oilers don´t make it out of this round you can bet that they´re also going to be looking for a goalie.

  4. I don´t know how reliable these people´s scouting reports are but reading this, I´m not sure whether we shouldn´t just draft Eiserman (if we keep our pick).

Amazing shot, lethal on the PP, needs a playmaker (which we have). Maybe he doesn´t play D but we so desperately need goal scoring.

Also just noticed that Ilya Bryzgalov´s son is eligible for the draft. He´s a goalie

I don't think Monahan really fits.  He could, but it just seems to not fill a need. He's much more of a C than a W.

I still like Toffoli (lived in the area many years), Guentzel, Arvidsson, DeBrusk, Teravainen, Bertuzzi, Duclair, Duchene as options.  Not all righties, but all play both wings or C/RW.

Guys who can get you 20+ goals.

Would the flyers be interested in trading tippett or konecny or even Sanheim? As far as I´m concerned both of our 1st rounders can be in play.

The flyers overachieved this season I think and might waste those guys´ prime. They could probably  use demidov or lindstrom to go with michkov.

I think we´re ahead in our rebuild and we would be getting a piece to help us now and hopefully make a push for the playoffs in 1 or 2 years.

Draisitl just had a 4-point night on probably a sprained or broken ankle lol …ggggeeeezzzz

That´s great and all but they need contributions from everyone. A Hyman-McDavid-Draisaitl line can do some serious damage but if they want to keep winning Nugent-Hopkins, Kane & Henrique to name a few are going to have to show up. Is Perry even playing?

Maybe they can get past Vancouver this way but colorado or dallas is going to be too much to handle.

Are we looking at two potential teams looking for big changes this of season? Toronto being the other. Maybe we could swing a trade. Oh wait, there's also the Kings lol

I wouldn't rule out the oilers either depending how their season ends. I wouldn't count them out yet because it's still early but with Draisaitl maybe playing hurt (again) anything can happen. The nucks' confidence is probably sky high and they might get Demko back.

The Hurricanes are the team that is expected to do damage in the postseason after great regular seasons but can't get it done. Made six straight playoffs. Been to the conference finals twice but were swept in both. Won the Metro in 3 out of the last four years while having a great coach and always with one of the best defenses in the league. They don't play a soft game and have quality offensive talent. They have been outstanding at the draft also. It's just crazy to me that they are on the verge of getting swept in the second round.

I feel bad for them because they are playing well. Just can´t catch a break.

That Zibanejad-Kreider connection is a thing of beauty though. The way those two find each other is amazing.

  9. You gotta give it to the nucks. That was a great comeback and that is with petterson basically being a no show. That place was definitely rocking.

Who knows, maybe we´re getting a 1994 rematch.

Even Marner in the high 9’s aav isn’t worth #3 OA of a pick straight up. If he were three years younger then I think we’re in the ballpark. He just turned 27 and is one year away from hitting free agency, so the Ducks have no control while the draft pick has 7 accrued seasons worth. This notwithstanding Toronto s situation and needs or marners NMC either. Not to mention where the uncertainty of where Ducks are currently at.

Necas and Carolina’s first, presumably in the 25 range isn’t nearly enough to get the 3rd overall. Necas isn’t an elite or star player and first round pick doesn’t get you there. You need an elite return for an elite asset which is why we haven’t seen a top-5 pick traded in 25 years imo. They are that valuable and even more valuable in a salary cap league.

Necas is far from elite but this draft isn´t either. I never would have traded the 3rd OA last year for him but this year there´s maybe  no top prospect to be picked. Necas (former 1st rounder himself) is 25 years old and put up 71 points last season. Might be a fluke but he´d be our leading scorer. If they add their 1st I think that´s a fair price.

Talking about elite, Marner is. And with an 9 mil AAV in place you´d be an idiot for not trading the 3rd OA pick for him. Toronto won´t bite of course because they need something that´ll help them now.

  11. 3 hours ago, BombaysTripleDeke said:

No GM is trading the 3rd overall pick for Marner though. He makes almost 11 mil a season and is due an extension after next year. Contracts factor in quite a bit in a players trade value. If Toronto wants to try and make another playoff run then they wouldn’t trade for futures but rather established NHL players who can help now. This is also coming off a playoff series where Marner was ripped for his play as well.

Jiricek is interesting and was displeased with the organization earlier in the season but then they fired their GM and came out saying Jiricek isn’t going anywhere. So I think odds went slim to none on him being traded now.

we discussed Necas in another thread and the Ducks would not need to offer anything close to a top-10 pick for him. Better players were traded for much less. Hes a nice target to look into though

I meant Marner with an extension in place that is not 11 mil.

As for Necas, the 3rd OA for him is probably an overpay but it doesn´t have to be one for one. Maybe something like 3rd OA+Lundestrom for Necas and Carolina´s 1st rounder.

  12. 2 hours ago, BombaysTripleDeke said:

Regardless of availability, what players do you think are worth that pick?

Use it in a package for an extended Marner?

Don´t know how Jiricek is being valued at the moment but maybe there is something to talk about.

Somebody proposed Necas in the trade & free agent thread. That would have to be a sign and trade though.

  13. 1 hour ago, BombaysTripleDeke said:

Who would that be though? There’s no available player worthy of spending that pick on and very few players who are worth it straight up.

No idea. Maybe some players become available when a GM dangles the 3rd OA pick.

It's certainly not entirely his fault, but I've NEVER felt that Gibson was a lights out goalie, in the mold of someone like Giguere.  He always seemed to give up the critical goal when a save was needed.  I feel like he had a hand in the string of playoff losses we had in the last 2010's decade.  When Andersen was let go, I felt in my gut that it was 100% the wrong choice.  Despite some flashes of greatness since, Gibson has shown me nothing to prove otherwise.  Andersen, on the other hand, seems to be in the Playoffs consistently.  Whether it's because of his play or the teams he chose to be a part of, it's clear that he's a good goalie, and has helped the teams he's on, make the Playoffs.  And teams don't make the Playoffs unless they have good to great goaltending.

It has always bothered me that Gibson cannot stand on his head for any extended period of time.  And sometimes, a great goalie has to do that.

I´m not advocating picking one over the other but Freddie has left in his share of softies in the Playoffs. Most recently the 1st game against New York. Back when he was with us I seem to recall one or two in game 5(?) against chicago. The choice for Gibson was a logical one. Too had he got injured against nashville in 2017 and we had Bernier backing him up.

That series against San Jose in 2018 would have gone the same way with Freddie. Gibson was maybe the only player not to be blamed. What an awful series that was.

  15. I know we´re in need of  top 6 winger but since we´re not the most desirable place to play it might be slim pickings. Basically we´re set at center with Carlsson, McT and Zegras but what about Sean Monahan?

It´ll require an overpay (as it usually does) but I think he could help us out. Don´t know whether he has played wing before or if we can shift one of our own but he´s younger than Stamkos and Marchessault and more likely to come.

in a vacuum looking at us....sweet! im stoked for one of these players getting on our team!

but....looking at the whole picture....man there are some teams I REAAAALLLY hope don't get #1....

Chicago, Utah, Seattle, San Jose, Columbus, Montreal, Columbus, NJ, Buffalo....

and even though they can't pick 1st...I'd hate to see Pittsburgh or Detroit win it....

ugh. this is going to be so stressful lol

Just not chicago. Don´t care about the rest but not chicago.

After the 5 - 1 drubbing of Florida in Game 1 you might want to rethink that. Rangers got all the pieces also, D, F, G, they got it all. Any of Avs or Dallas can take on any of the canadian teams.

Yeah that comment didn´t age well. I really thought a rested Florida was gonna walk over Boston to be honest. But it´s just one game. Swayman isn´t going to stop close to 40 shots every night.

Zegras is the only proven talented forward we have on our roster. If Craig "Hm... I don't know" Cronin won't bench him after every mistake he makes, he'll be capable to get 65-70 points next season.

    It´s Greg btw.

A Dallas - Rangers Final looks feasible.

I can´t see either team make it. The Avs are better than the knights I think. Oettinger will have to stand on his head. But Dallas do have the advantage in net which is a big one. But should they get past the Avs they probably have to face the Oilers. And if it´s the Nucks then it´s quite something they got past the oilers.

But it´s the rangers that´s even more unlikely to make it to the finals. Their PP is amazing and has been making the difference so far but I don´t know whether that´ll keep going. The Canes hit 2 or 3 posts and Freddie let in a softy. The caps were this year´s laughing stock in the playoffs with an invisible ovechkin.

I really have a hard time seeing another team than Florida coming out of the East. If they stay relatively healthy that is.

rumors are Hollywood team may buy out Pierre Dubois. If it happens, maybe Ducks should offer him a "prove-it" deal, something like 1 years at $3 mil? This guy had 2 seasons with 60+ points, he can't be that bad, just didn't fit in Hollywood team,

I think it would be a win-win situation for both parties, worse case scenario, if it does not work for Ducks, he would be let go a year from now. What do you think, guys?

The problem with PLD isn´t lack of talent or skill, it´s lack of effort. If he´d play to his ability I´d say yes in a heartbeat but then the kings wouldn´t be buying him out.

I really think he only wants to play in Montreal. If he wouldn´t put in the effort in LA, why would he in Anaheim?

Just watched Steve Dangle's post mortem and he is saying exactly that. Marner and Tavares are gone and he things the head coach and Shanahan are going too. Marner looked like he was taking a warm up skate when Pasta blew past him on his way to scoring the OT winner.

Don´t they have NMCs? If they want to trade Marner and he agrees it might happen but I don´t see any takers for Tavares unless they retain big time.

    Lindholm had a great game!

honestly, i really liked Benoits game too! dude made some sick D plays

and yeah, you have to fire Keefe. He's getting outcoached in every series.

Not only that but I think the toronto fans will be screaming louder than ever to trade marner. Matthews showed up in game 2 and has an excuse. Nylander scored some big goals but tavares and marner have little to show for.
