CHOKEVILLE!!!!!!!
That was a thing of beauty. Shocking that they didn´t call of the forsberg goal. Dude didn´t even celebrate.

How invisible has ovechkin been? Seems like he wants to save it all for the regular season to get the record. Shame that the caps made it over the pens and wings.

On the Utah name front. They filed for another trademark name possibility.

I'd go for the Utah relocators.

Verbeek will go after him but he wont come. 35 year old that will want to compete and win his last few years, not go to a rebuilding team and not sniff the playoffs the last few years. I bet Stamkos takes less money for a contender. He has had his big pay day already. And take Kucherov away from him and who says he produces anywhere near the same rate. Killorn didnt.
Seeing him one time shots on the PP is a thing of beauty. We could definitely use that.
If he feels really confident he might say: The Ducks are one Stamkos away from being a playoff team 😄 -

I thought before the season that Fowler and Terry were the front runners for the C. Yeah that ship has sailed I think. Zegras for sure has risen his stock to be captain. Leo as well. McT for me currently is a no. He's way too undisciplined. I wouldn't mind Gudas in that role either. But if we do somehow get Stamkos he's likely to be the captain in the interim.
I also think Gudas is captain material. Not too long ago I saw him standing by the bench high fiving every player as they came off. Don´t know whether he does that every time. I think he´s very well respected.
What I didn´t know is that Adam Lowry is the Captain in winnipeg. I´m in the ´your captain doesn´t have to be your best player camp´ but still it´s quite remarkable.

might as well follow some of this stuff.
i don't know why nylander is out, but that's a problem.
glad there are 5? ex ducks players in the mix.
it's crazy how discombobulated TOR becomes when they're up against BOS in a playoff game. they look horrible out there.
Without Nylander they´re definitely toast.
I count Lindholm, Shattenkirk, Maroon, Benoit, Lyubushkin and didn´t we have Heinen for a short spell?

Being a good player does not mean this person will be a good GM. Remember Gretzky as a coach and GM of Arizona Coyotes?
While I am old enough to remember Verbeek as a good player, especially playing for Dallas, as a GM he made quite a few moves that questionable at least. He signed Strome to $25 mil contract who by the age of 29 for the first and only time in his career scored 21 goals in a season. Before Strome even put Ducks uniform, I knew it will be a waste of money and cap space for the next 5 years.
How do you give 34 y/o Killorn 4 years retirement contract? Now for the next 3 years we have to cross our fingers he won't go Kesler on us.
I also don't understand PV's love for rejects from another teams. While Leason is a borderline NHL player, what is it he saw in Meyers, Johnson, Lagesson, McGinn that we don't see? I hear the arguments "Oh, they are just fill in people, they'll be gone next season". Well, till Verbeek gets another bunch of warm bodies to fill up? This summer he'll have 3rd chance to redeem himself, will see what happens.
I never said good players make good GM´s but someone posted PV was unsuccessful as a player. I replied to that.
The vet signings aren´t bad IMO. You can´t have 23 20-year olds skating around. They´ll get murdered. Yes he overpays because that´s the price you pay for being a franchise in Anaheim. I´m sure he wouldn´t overpay if he were a GM in Toronto or New York.

I am sorry you are so PV-sensitive. Varbick could have done much to help the team make the playoffs this season, but he chose not to. I debate hockey with you anytime, anywhere, anyplace.
I was saying that PV was unsuccessful as a player and that I do not see him as a GM. I believe that a guy like Brian Burke would have done a better job than him.
Unsuccessful as a player?
He was OHL rookie of the year.
Played in the NHL (1400+ games played, 1000+ points and 500+ goals). He won a Stanley Cup and got elected twice to the All-star game.
Also World Championship gold. If that is unsuccessful I´m very curious what a player has to do in order to be successful.
What is Varbick btw?

Congrats on a great career. Loved him in the playoffs back when we were still good. Too bad we didn´t get past the hawks and preds back then.

With the shootout loss tonight Ducks are guaranteed a top 5 pick.
I´ve said it before but unless we get 1st OA (which we probably won´t), trade it.
Since PV won´t do it I´d go for Iginla.
-
If we don´t get #1 overall (which we won´t) and miss out on Celebrini I say trade the pick. If not a trade, then Iginla.
If he´s anything like his dad we may finally get a leader in the lockerroom eventually.

Henrique picked up a secondary assist on Connor Brown´s 1st goal in 57 games.

Just saw dumba was traded to the lightning for a 5th rounder. That´s low value no? Has he been that bad?

The Canes are not holding back. And no idea what the Bruins are thinking with Maroon apart from superstition

Seeing over on HF boards that the kings are shopping PLD. Possible the bruins dor swayman/Ullmark. Wouldn´t that be something.

Just saw this…
I mean, I could see why the rangers wouldn’t go for it lol
If this is true, good on PV for trying. Kakko would have been an intriguing add.

Would you re-sign this summer under any circumstances?
I thought I read somewhere that he has a youngling and that the familiy really likes SoCal. I hope he does and I think it´s possible especially should the Oilers win The Cup. Otherwise I can see him chasing one (probably NY area).

fraking Vegas, man…
Did not see Hanifin to Vegas coming. But I don´t see them winning it all again. The avs, oilers and stars might have a say in the matter. Don´t know about the nucks. Seems like the West is stronger than the east this year. Good news for toronto though.I don´t think any teams apart from florida really improved. So go Florida.

Wennberg to the Rangers.
Maybe they leave it at that and won´t go after Vatrano. I hope we stays. We need goals.
Although I still wouldn´t rule out the canes who so far have done nothing.
-
I´ll be pulling for the Oilers. Hope Henrique wins a Cup, as well as a 2nd for Perry. On top of that I hope Henrique rejoins us over the summer.
Great job by PV to get a 1st.

Meanwhile Franky keeps scoring goals. Do we even want to trade him because winning games is fun and you need goals in order to do that.
If he does go I hope PV doesn´t settle for anything less than a package containing at least a 1st rounder or a good prospect because Franky´s on fire. And he has an added year.

The rangers would certainly be interested in Henrique or Vatrano. Not bad to take a looksie at what they can offer.

I'm definitely rooting for Rico, Perry & Carrick but also McDavid and Draisaitl. Those guys really deserve to have their name on The Cup. Don't care about the draft. If we don't get #1 OA I hope we trade both picks (I know it's not gonna happen).
Most important of all: not nashville or toronto.
