  1. Apparently he wants to be in the US is what I´ve read. We tick that box. I´m not too familiar with every team´s cap situation but I don´t think there are a lot of teams who can fit him in without too much shuffeling.
  2. multiply by 8 and that´s 4 mil. Not exactly change. All this Debrincat talk isn´t good for my stresslevel I never thought we´d be in this conversation and all of a sudden that´s what happened. I´m going to be so disappointed if we don´t get him. Or we make a deal with Toronto for Nylander but that seems even less likely. Anyway I want myself a top 6 scorer.
  3. None. I think the sens maybe asked him where he wanted to be traded to but more out of professional courtesey. But if the sens get offered a package which is satisfactory to them but Debrincat doesn´t like the contract he doesn´t have to sign it. The team offering the package will then retract said package I think since they don´t want to offer something of value for just one year of Debrincat.
  4. In theory that is correct but from my understading ottawa can´t really afford his QO.
  5. Step 1: Add Debrincat and Dumba Step 2: ? Step 3: Playoffs
  6. I´m not opposed to offering Debrincat $ 8-8.5 mil. We desperately need goals and he can provide that. More importantly, if any of this is true he´s prepared to go to the highest bidder. We can outbid any team if we want to. But the problem for me is that Zegras & Terry haven´t been extended yet. Say we offer Debrincat 8.5 mil, are the others gonna go we want that too. Because that might be a problem.
  7. Very much so. The guy is looking for the best money out there. Age 25, unless he takes a 1 year deal and bets on himself, this is the big contract for him. And we´re in a position where we can offer him that. Doesn´t mean we shouldn´t. Unfortunately, if the sens want roster players, we don´t have the necessary pieces. I´d offer our 24 1st but I´m reluctant to throw in one of our top prospects. Pastujov/Tracey/Perreault is fine by me. As far as roster players go I´d do Jones/Lundestrom/Nesterenko/McGinn/Vatrano but that won´t be interesting enough for ottawa.
  8. He played on a team coached by statistically one of the worst coaches in NHL history. Last season was also historically bad. You´re a product of your environment and no goalie would have shined backstopping this (last year´s) team. It´ll takena sweetener in the form of retention and an additional pick and/or prospect but I think Gibson still has value to certain teams, Toronto being one of them. I also thought I read that the cap is going up next season. Having said this I hope we get to keep Gibson. I´m a fan (still).
  9. "On March 8, The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported there are teams who still view Gibson as a difference-maker." that´s from the hockeynews from this year. Just because there´s a few members on this board who think Gibson is to blame for everything going wrong with this team doesn´t mean he doesn´t have value. As Gorb suggested, we should add something but Gibson definitely has value and certainly to Toronto who have been looking for a good goalie for quite some time.
  10. BM would already be waiting in the airport holding up a mr. Zadina sign.
  11. Nick robertson - though hyped up by Toronto fans - has very little value IMO. Undersized, not very good skater who just had surgery. Gibson has a lot more value than that, especially retained and even more so if we take back Murray because that´s negative value. Nylander should definitely be on the table if we add a pick. Two problems: Gibson´s and Nylander´s NTC.
  12. Moving Gibson now would be dumb IMO. We finally have a new coach who can (hopefully) let our team play in a system and we already got tougher on our back end with the addition of Gudas. Preferably we add some more good defensive play and muscle. Killorn is a good two-way forward so that also helps. Give Gibson at least one more season (unless he really wants out) with our new team. If you believe the Gibson haters on this board his value can't plummet any further so why not hold onto him a little longer. And unless Dostal is ready for #1 duty we have nobody to step in should he leave.
  13. He´ll not fix our scoring woes but in the bottom 6 he´d be an upgrade over Jones/Carrick/Silfverberg/Leason. Added grit is a big deal for this team.
  14. I´d very much like to add a scorer for our top 6 but if that doesn´t work out (too much money, not wanting to come here) should we look to solidify our top 9 with Goodrow perhaps? The rangers have miller and laf to re-sign so they´re gonna have to shed salary. I can see them wanting to move Goodrow for next to nothing. Why we´d do it? He´s not afraid to do the dirty work. He has won before and he has leadership skills.
  15. I´m all for that but I think quite a few teams can top a package of let´s say Jones, Tracey and a 2nd. I hope I´m proven wrong.
  16. Because from what I´ve read ottawa wants NHL ready players and I don´t know what we´re willing to offer. They´re not gonna bites on Silfverberg and we´re not gonna give up Terry for example. If they want picks and prospects we should be all over it but apparently that´s not what the sens are targetting.
  17. Should Debrincat be on the table I don´t think our line-up could look like that. Apparently ottawa wants a NHL ready player(s). The only likely candidate I see us giving up which might work for them would be Vatrano and a big +. Maybe Henrique but then the + probably gets even bigger. I don´t think we make great trade partners if the sens are indeed looking to get a top 6 forward back.
  18. We paid too much for Gudas and way too much for Killorn. Having said that we needed veteran help up front and on D. Those boxes are ticked. We also need to be tougher to play against. That is now absolutely the case. It´s not PV´s fault we suck and Anaheim is no longer a desirable place to be. Neither it´s his fault that taxes are higher than in a lot of other places. Taking all this into account PV did a fine job. If the new coach can make a difference and some of our young guys take steps Anaheim will become a desirable place again to play hockey and we might not have to overpay for UFA´s by much.
  19. It´s for one year. They can demand all they want. Doesn´t mean they´ll get it. I´d give up our 2024 1st and a prospect (no blue chip). Perhaps Perreault/Pastujov.
  20. Patches to the caps. Didn´t know he was still playing.
  21. You might try this. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl-free-agent-frenzy-blog-1.1979632
  22. So you´re just assuming? It´s quite uncommon for a young guy to bounce around like that but as stated above the blackhawks want to bring him back. If he was such a disaster in the lockerroom would you want that guy around your savior of the franchise (even if it´s the hawks)?
  23. Because he can play. He put up 49 points in 60 games for the blackhawks last season. Also 13 points in the playoffs for dallas. Although he´s small he´s pretty tough. We can definitely use some of that grit. I don´t know about any lockerroom problems. What I do know is that he plays the game despite suffering from serious diabetes. I don´t think that´s an easy feat. So it´s probably not work ethic related. Maybe he´s just a big jerk. Who knows?
  24. I´d like PV to try and sign Max Domi. I wouldn´t mind taking a gamble on Bunting. As far as D men are concerned the most talked about guys here are Soucy and Graves which would be fine by me. Isn´t Dumba a UFA too? I haven´t seen his name mentioned anywhere. I can see Stevie Y go after him.
  25. Found this on Myatovic: "While stars like Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, and Leo Carlsson will steal the limelight on draft day, one of the more underrated picks could come in the form of Nico Myatovic. Myatovic has all the tools to be a great power forward in the NHL. His speed and skating are great for his size, and he is tenacious in his pursuit of the puck. No matter the situation, Myatovic plays it well, regardless of it being a powerplay or a penalty kill. He is relentless when he has the puck and will be a constant pain to play against. Myatovic also works incredibly hard in the forecheck, where he will come with lightning speed and use his size to win position along the boards. Defensively he has taken a lot of steps this season and reads the defensive game at a much higher level. Offensively he lacks a lot of tools to really make a huge difference. His vision isn’t amazing, and his puck handling can let him down at times. He works hard along the boards to win possession but after that, he lacks the creativity to make the most of it. However, if he can add a little bit more to his offence, he would be a perfect bottom-six forward with great speed, size, and work ethic. Exactly the type of player teams needs to win a cup down the line." Reading this you might think he was drafted to early but on the other hand you do have to have good role players. Is it worth an early 2nd? Time will tell. He does strike me as someone who can score ugly goals. I don't think we have enough of that (or any type of goals for that matter 😁 ). And size, speed & work ethic is what PV is looking for. If we develop him properly he'll fit in nicely with finesse guys like Zegras, Terry & Carlsson.
