    Nylander will probably command more than AD. Both in a trade and salary. He has 1 year left and there is no guarantee he resigns. He can negotiate a new deal with the leafs and then be traded too. Nylander is one year older, much bigger and has better numbers than AD. His numbers actually get better with time too. Leafs have cap issues and it would be tough to move correct players around. We have a goalie (if he wants to go to a contenteder in Canada), they need a better one, the conversation should start there.

    I would be pretty disappointed if we did not land AD. Unless there was some other deal in place with a better player. It makes way more sense to add him than not based on the arguments above.

    Scotty was even keeled too. That worked well. But that came with the experience behind it.

    I haven’t seen the bit about him wanting to be closer to home. At least not as a prerequisite. Beggars can’t be choosers. If he wants to get paid with term, he needs to go to a team who can do it.

    Maybe Killorn as C, he has a ton of experience and was an A in Tampa when they won. Not really seeing it for anyone else yet. Maybe McT or Terry get an A if Silfverberg ends up gone (which seems like that buyout rumor went away). They could take it from him regardless.

    I’ve seen Hamonic’s name out there some. Ottawa signed him to a 2 year 2.2mil deal. Ottawa trying to fill their roster but with not much money.

    Well he would have to set career highs for that much I think. But teams could get into a bidding war with their extra cap.

    If he doesn’t get it now he will sign for 1 year then then a dozen teams can make a push next year with the cap growth. I say use the opportunity when you can. Players like him don’t become available often, nor do we have the ability to do it. With our cap space, and other teams lack of cap space, we are in a great position to nab a players we normally would not even be in the conversation for. Pay him and figure it out later. Worse case we could always move him later.
