    Great first, or one your first, post. I thought the same thing. At least along the lines of them signing a vet to back up Gibson and be a backup. Even if Gibby goes down, may Dostal gets the call up and the vet still backs up. But the. I wondered why they let Stolarz walk. I thought he was a good complimentary guy. Maybe there is a plan to take a goalie back in a trade for salary dump purposes. That goalie becomes the backup. Not saying this is happening, but perhaps a deal with Toronto to bring Nylander here, requires taking Murray’s contract, but also doesn’t involve Gibby going the other way. Hypothetically.

    But, doesn’t Madden make the calls at the draft? I feel it is a little unfair to Verbeek, if that is not 100% his call. He may have wanted someone else, but was out voted 1 to 4 or whatever.

    We do have Terry going to arbitration. We have been linked to Nylander...again for third year in a row. Thats all I’ve seen.

    Ya I feel the same way. If you get value then consider that the pick. Just this value is more of a guarantee (why you are trading for it). A first rounder could be a bust. If that assets comes in and performs then our pick gets higher and higher. A mid 1st could be not much of anything and could not be a thing for several years out. At some point you need to turn the corner. Verbeek so far does not seem to be the agressive type. I do not think anything like this will happen under him.

    Ya that is true too. Hope someone here knows more about this and can shed some light. I think this is a fisix kind of thing (aren’t they a lawyer? Someone here is a lawyer?), or sexlaf will spend 10 hrs researching for us, or FS93 will just complain about the idea of it and we give up. Whatever happened to Zether? Anyway Asking a team for permission to talk to someone is a whole different ball game.

    So does that mean he is going to the AHL at minimum? He can’t go to SHL?

    Umm I think RFA still means the player ‘belongs’ to that organization and speaking to him or the agent would be tampering? I’m not a lawyer and have no interest in reading the by laws, but I think I am right?

    Well I say it is about time we are in the other end of finding a player that a team has given up on and they find themselves. We have been handing them out to the league like candy. Last time we had something like that, Beauchemin and Kunitz (which were about the same time frame). We had pieces fall in our lap and made things happen. Got those guys and Marchant, Scotty wanted to come, Teemu found his legs, Pronger wanted out of Edmonton. We need that kind of stuff to start happening again. One of those guys from NYR might be it. I like the sound of Laf putting up decent numbers in the 3rd line and low minutes. That could be a sneaky pick up. Give him double the minutes and double the points?

    Does Arizona even have a timeline? It seems like they restart their rebuild every time they have to switch arenas, which is a lot. I have seen them trade good up and coming guys over and over throughout the last two decades. It seems like they only exist as a development farm, and a salary dumping ground for the rest of the NHL.

    Well and was he bad realitive to him just not playing well enough to be in the NHL or realitive to his previous contract. For the right price a veteran, physical minute eater in fowlers line has value. I feel like this would be saying that no one would sign Perry because he isn’t score 50 goals anymore. Perry was signed by several teams over the years because of what he brought to the table at that point in his career. Dumba could be that for our D.

    Man they really went all in on him. I didn’t know it was a modified NMC. They were rumored to Hellebuyk and Gibson and said nah nevermind.

    How is Jarry? Is Gibson an upgrade?. What if they did Jarry and a conditional pick. If they get past the first round it is a 1st and they get their 3rd back, if they lose in the first round then it is a 2nd and we keep the 3rd. Jarry just signed a 5 year at 5.35 to Gibsons 6.4. That saves us a mil on the cap and gains a pick.
