    Some notable RD out there are Hamonic Dumba, and Bear. Bear is only 26 5’-11” 197 and was a plus players. Hamonic is 32 6’-2” 205 lbs and had the most points for D last year that is still available, he also had a ton of shots compared to who else is out there. Dumba is kind of in between the two for production plus/minus and shots and he is 28 6’-0” 180lbs. Most TOI of the group Bargain bin could be Micheal Stone. 33 6’-3” 210lbs was a plus player. He would be the cheapest option by far. Not sure if he is an improvement over Helleson though, but allows Helleson to play in SD.

    Why can’t Debrincat be on the table. The ducks have been linked to him over the last couple of days.

    Damn I knew I missed someone. I looked it three times. Maybe though. Maybe as part of the Debrincat trade. Let’s try again. Bertuzzi/Domi - Zegras - Debrincat Killorn - McTavish - Terry Carlson - Henrique - Silfverberg Vatrano - Strome - McGinn/Jones Looks pretty deep to me. Fairly balanced too.

    If we could sign Bettuzzi or Domi (not both) and add Debrincat, this teams look drastically changes. Bertuzzi/Domi - Zegras - Debrincat Henrique - McTavish - Killorn Vatrano - Carlson - Silfverberg Jones - Strome - McGinn

    This. That’s all I’m asking for. I will say this. I was an advocate to trading Gibby two years ago at the beginning of the rebuild for assists we needed and to get us lower in the standings, not as we are starting to come out of it. Moving him now could actually set us back, despite what He who shall not be named thinks. That is unless Dostal really takes a step and can take over.

    Just because a player demands a trade doesn’t mean he has to be traded. Maybe they talked to him. Said hey wait for free agency and the draft, let us makes some moves, maybe give the new coach a chance. Who knows. But the summer isn’t over…it’s day two of free agency. Teams that did not address their goalie needs during the draft are looking to do it in free agency now. After the dust settles, we will see what team missed out on what they wanted. They will come knocking if Gibby is truly available.

    Maybe they just don’t want to trade him. And all those rumors were false. Think of that? If we wanted to move him, we would have, even if it meant for nothing.

    This part towards dstdlaw, I agree in the since that the D is suspect. It could be decent at best, but too much inexperience at this point. I am going to go look at what D is still out there. I think another veteran RH makes most since considering we have a lot of youth in the left, then Helleson can be the 7th/8th D. To Tommer, could we see Lacombe partnered with Drysdale? Or is that too much inexperience? I do not know much about Lacombes style except the fact he is seasoned in terms of college hockey. I do agree one more scoring forward would be nice. As of this post the only 20+ goal scoring wingers left are Kane, Taresenko, Domi and Tatar. Tartar would probably be the best value in terms of contract value, but I think Domi plays the style we are looking for. While he has those traits, his character may be a culprit to his moving around so much, which if true, would be contrary to what Verbeek wants. Those guys would be getting 4-5 mil per season for 3-5 years per cap friendly estimation. We probably have to up that by 500-750k to draw them in. Kane would never come here, and Taresenko just doesn’t fit the style I don’t think.

    I would imagine guys are thinking tradition at times and only put older teams with more history or more success or larger markets etc…just for the nostalgic of it all, but I would have to imagine some guys also think about the weather and the lack of market for some peace or noticing that this should be very good team in a couple more years. It is tough to say. It would be nice to see these lists, but for the same reason as trades, they don’t get released most of the time, due to bargaining power. Sometimes a team or two will get leaked but rarely the list.

    I am not the OP, but I would say no unless it was top ten protected, and two because I doubt we are in Nylanders list…

    What I like most is they have made it clear the type/style or character of the team they are trying to build. It gives us fans a clearer image of what that may mean. It allows us to speculate with direction rather than through every name in the book. Know what they are trying to build, we can constructively discuss maybe a dozen names. I find that more interesting personally.

    Both Nylander and Debrincat NEED to be moved. Those teams lose a bit of leverage. I know the package would have to include a 1st. Regardless of the other pieces I say 2024 top 10 protected otherwise it becomes a unprotected 2025z

    Ya with his comment surfacing and the rumors that Michkov only wanted to be drafted by certain markets too, it is a little bit disappointing. Small market teams may never get real opportunities to get players they want in the draft. We are seeing it more and more with draftees and players requesting trades. If everyone played for the team they want to play for then it makes it so hard to build a better team. The worst you do, the less people want to play for you….

    But we have to pay more to draw some decent players. We need to draw decent players to perform decent. The more decent we are the more decent players we can draw. It is a climb up hill. If we ever want to draw grade A FAs we need to be a playoff and/or contending team. If we are good enough, we may not need to overpay. We can’t build a team solely on drafts. We can trade for a few, but ultimately we need to be able to sign some quality FA.

    He has been bounced around so much regardless of his scoring ability. Makes you wonder if he is just a D-bag and no one wants him on the team once they find out who he really is. Or something like that. Lazy? Sloppy? Spills Gatorade in the locker room and just covers it with newspaper. Poops in the urinal. Who knows.

    The more I see and hear, it sounds like Myatovic is going to be a solid second line support player. I see Kunitz all over this. Second line caliper forechecker with speed and decent skill. He was the perfect complement to McD and Selanne. You can’t draft all 1st line all stars, it would be nice, but that isn’t realistic long term. I see this as a structural piece to the foundation that will build a well rounded team. At least that’s what I think that they were thinking with this pick.

    Even if the GM and coach were changed, what does that do. The cards have been played already. Anyone coming in now, still would not see progress for awhile. Could it be faster, maybe. But how do we know what Verbeeks plan is or what it will be. He may have cards up his sleeves.
