Honestly he should just retire. You can die from blood clots, and it doesn’t sound like this issue is being address at all. He could get hit and literally die from a stroke during the game. I had a thought. During the draft, a lot of the GMs were thanking David Polie for his mentorship and advice over the years (Polie retired after the draft). Do GMs really talk to each other like that? Does one call another and ask for advice? They are in competition with each other so I don’t know. I wonder if Beeker talked to Stevie Y at all, or Stevie, or another GM, calling and saying, ‘look, I know you’re new to being a GM, but man that offer does not look good from a lot directions. You should rethink that.’ Is there any of that potentially going on?

I feel that if the Ducks didn’t want him long term, then why not just trade him. Or if Terry didn’t want to be here why not request a trade or just saying he won’t sign long term. This is similar the Debrincat situation. He was RFA but said he wasn’t going to sign long term. They moved him and got some good pieces. I don’t think he had arbitration rights but what’s the difference. If one or both sides don’t want to work together why go through the hassle and tarnishing of either side. Make a trade and move on.

I have a general question to throw a wrench in here. Related to the cap going up. What if the cap doesn’t go up? What happens if this recession comes to fruition? What if the economy does indeed tank, or tank more than it has? Or we have another global event that prevents people from going to games? It seems like saying, well we can pay you more because ‘we think’ the cap is going up. I would compare this to spending money on your credit card; money you technically don’t have. What if you lose your job next week? Or you then have unexpected expense or emergency. For example of this in terms of NHL, Carlsson comes in a turns into Crosby, can we afford to add in $20mil/year (exaggerated) onto the cap that may or may or didn’t go up? Oh snap! Now we have to trade pieces etc. Negotiations should take place in the now, not in the what ifs. Am I crazy or logical?

Question to Zegras. Would you rather be a #2 center or #1 winger? I feel like his character and pizazzzz is a winger, not a center. I fthink centers are meant to be more serious.
