If the draft order turns out to be what Buccigross posted, it’s going to be an absolute gong show

It won't. Last year a picture surfaced as well in the afternoon that had Chicago winning, then Arizona, and the Ducks third. That didn't happen. This is the same thing. Actual draw happens in 15 mins.

Zegras is the only proven talented forward we have on our roster. If Craig "Hm... I don't know" Cronin won't bench him after every mistake he makes, he'll be capable to get 65-70 points next season.

He will be capable of 70 plus if he doesn't get benched and is allowed to play his game. There are 4 other guys on the ice with him that could be more defensive sound. It's not all on Zegras. His first two 60+ point seasons he was good at taking pucks from guys in the defensive zone with the stick lift. In my opinion, he needs to be allowed to play his game in the offensive zone and drive the Ducks offense and cut down on the yapping to everyone and focus.

So.... if Stamkos and Tampa can't work a deal out do you think he retires?

No I don't. I think there is a 95% chance that those two sides work out a deal. If they don't, then I see Stamkos signing with a contender. If Florida losses Reinhart, I can see Stamkos signing there as it is close to home and a contender. I see a small .001% chance he comes to Anaheim. Everything I've read seems to say that he doesn't have much interest in going to a rebuilding team. If the arguments for Anaheim are his former assistant GM is here, then one can argue for Detroit as his former GM is there.

Can you imagine a real life convo between Joker and Sask?

Hey now. I'm actually of the belief that Zegras can get more then 60 points if he is allowed to play his game. He was producing those last few games of the season. If the coaching staff has the leash tight for defense first out of him, then it might be harder. But let him play his game and he is capable of driving the offense.

Yeah I think you’re right…ship has probably sailed on Gibson getting us Holtz. His recent play isn’t cutting it.

i do wonder what it would take to grab Holtz without giving up 2024 1st rounder, Z, MacT, tt, Leo, cutter, Minty. Zelly, Dostal, jlc…

I bet he has his eye on him though

Giving up none of those, the Ducks probably dont have the assets New Jersey would want then. Gibson and 2nd to dump the contract and then something for Holtz. Honestly if they wanted JLC Id do it. Ducks have other d coming up. Maybe Gibson, LaCombe, 2nd and 4th for Holtz. Not sure that gets it done. Ducks retain on Gibson. I think the Devils ship has sailed on Gibson and once again PV missed his opportunity. Going to say he missed cashing in on Vatrano too.

Finish with the 10th worse record, fight for the playoffs most of the season, fall off at the end …. Win the number 1 pick and profit ? A man can dream…. Hahahahah

2020 the Rangers went from playing in the playoff qualifying round to winning the lottery. It does happen.

(For the sake of argument here, let's say the lottery IS rigged.)

The powers at be were having a confab...  "You know, I just can't believe that Canada hasn't won a Stanley Cup since 1993.  This is a TRAVESTY.  What shall we do?"  "I know, let's let a Canadian team win the lottery a few times.  That'll do it!"  "But who?"  "Well, the favorite teams in Canada are Montreal and Edmonton.  Montreal won it last.  Let's give Edmonton a turn.  It'll be like old times - Gretzky, Kurri, Messier.  Whadaya think?"  "Sounds good boss, let's do it!"

Fast forward a few years...  "Gentlemen, we're in a quandry.  One of our original six teams is losing both Toews AND Kane."  "Oh no, what will we do?"  "I know, lets have Chicago win the lottery a few times.  That ought to do it."  "Sounds good boss, let's do it!"

The favorite teams in Canada are Montreal and Edmonton? Sorry but Toronto has more fans here then either of them and Vancouver/Calgary fan base would be similar to Edmonton.

i wonder if PV has his eye on Holtz for the top- RW....

    Gibson + ???? for Holtz + Allen?

At this point in time that is a big question mark for the plus for Gibson. Not even sure Gibson for Allen straight up would be agreed upon as Gibson has a much larger contract and their numbers have been pretty equal. I think you would be looking at Gibson and a 3rd to equal Allen, then you are looking at a top prospect or roster player and 1st or 2nd round pick for Holtz.

    it is decided 😂

Hawks won't win. They will hold off on their second 1st overall until 2026 so they can put Bedard's cousin on the same team. If the Hawks got 1st overall this year, then they can't get it for another 5 years.

I still stick by what I’ve said a couple of times in the draft thread, Utah will get the 1OA. Then we know that ‘something’ is up with the draft lottery. “Oh HOW convenient!” Type situation. (***I just went and looked at the final standings and I do not think Phutah can get 1OA because they can only potentially move up 4).

Getting Celebrini is such a big difference of how this team looks next season. Beeker needs to have two sets of plans. Last draft he basically knew he was getting an NHL ready C, now he is either getting his top 6 guy, or some random (pick out of 5-6-7 guys) of all different shapes and sizes and positions etc.

A team can move up 10 spots total. Utah finished 6th worst. They can move up to #1. Philly, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Detroit are the only teams that can win the lottery and not move up to first.

  11. 47 minutes ago, tommer-1 said:

There is no way they are getting Celebrini.  None.  The Ducks never win the lottery and won't this draft.

The Ducks have very little strength at C.  3 kids with not even 5 full NHL seasons between them.  ALL unproven and so far very inconsistent.

You're going to count on a guy with 1 GAME of NHL experience to play on your top line?  As a RW?

Strome is a poor NHL C.

Gaucher and Sidorov are about the same odds to make the NHL and stick as Celebrini is to be a Duck.

Zegras is gonna be super piddleed and asking for a trade if he can't play C with big minutes.

Your paying $14.9 mil for that 3rd line.

    See how that works?

Contradicting yourself are you? You said in this post that the Ducks have very little strength at C. All unproven and very inconsistent. Then in your next post you go the Ducks have the strength at C to build 3 solid lines. So what is it they do or they don't have center strength? You said Zegras will be made not getting big minutes at center. Guess what, Carlsson and McTavish will also be mad if all they get are 3rd line minutes. Killorn is not a the top of the depth chart left wing on any team. He is overpaid for what he brings and they best he looked last year was when he came back from the injury and was playing on the third line. Vatrano is a third line player as is Strome and each have been playing higher in the lineup then they should. Vatrano had a fluke almost 40 goal season, something he has never done before and likely will never do again. So what if you are paying 414.9 mil for the 3rd line. If that's what it is, then so be it. You don't like that much on your third line, blame Verbeek. At a point this year the Ducks were paying the third line over $16 mil (Killorn-Henrique-Silfverberg).

You also say the Ducks have no chance of getting 1st overall. Why is that? You believe the lottery is rigged? If that's the case then why did the NHL put McDavid in Edmonton. He could have been of much better use to them on a US based team in a bigger market.

You don't want to count on Gauthier to be the lop line RW because he has only played 1 NHL game? He's of better use there then playing third line left wing. Oh wait, lets stick him on the third line left wing behind the useless and overpaid Alex Killorn. I'm sure that will make him happy to resign in two years and stay with the Ducks. He has played some RW in college, so what difference does 1 game and a full training camp to learn the spot make? Ducks won't be challenging for anything, so let him learn. There are too many left handed shots and someone has to play the right side.

Too many inconsistencies between your two posts. You have two different opinions on the same subjects in them.

Someone that is a SSH, please ask why this is happening at the next whatever it’s called where you can ask questions.

    There are three excuses here:

    1. We are trying to actually lose.

    2. This is some form of punishing the team.

    3. Cronin is a complete fool (sask will jump all over this).

Option number 3, option number 3!!!. PS, I'm not the only one here with that opinion.

It's not serious until Verbeek gets serious! Lol but that line you wrote had me literally laughing out loud. Johnston shouldn't even be on this team and playing him on anything more than a 13th forward is ridiculous. He should play ~40 games max.

He should play 10 games max. 40 is too many. Heck 10 games is too many

  14. It still all comes down to the draft really. Say the Ducks get Celebrini or Demidov then do they have to go out and add a top 6 player. Internally they would have a top 6 of Gauthier, Zegras, McTavish, Carlsson, Terry, and Demidov or Celebrini. They wouldnt need to add anyone unless the plan is one of those isnt staying.

    😂😂😂😂😂😂

Verbeek: Guys we found that top 6 winger. He was in our system all along! The good news is he came cheap. In fact so cheap for a top 6 that we're practically stealing from the league itself! Johnston,  why don't you come on over and tell these nice folks what you bring to the team?

    Johnson: I can hit.... sometimes.

    Verbeek: Awesome! I'm very excited!

Of course I wasnt serious, but Cronin did keep using him as an extra attacker.

This is a fair point, but also rumored offer by Calgary and will the overall dollars is a lot to give up, he also is only giving up reportedly 750k a year.

The Calgary offer was north of $10mil ler year over 8 years. 8x10 is 80mil. North of 10 mil a year for 8 years is north of $80mil. So before you go around calling people liers do your own research. And living where I do we get more information on the Oilers then what is on Google. The Oilers and Flames (played junior in Calgary) were both putting forth much bigger offers for Getzlaf then he signed with Anaheim. And Giordano took a 80% pay cut last year. Where was the union on that? If Stamkos signs for $3mil to stay in Tampa because that is what he wants instead of $9mil in Anaheim the union will do nothing about it. Stamkos is doing nothing wrong. The only thing that will happen is I will post I told you so and you will cry into your liquor bottle as younwere wrong, yet again.

Ah yes he turned down “north of 10 mil AAV” for checks notes …. $9.75 mil AAV.

apples for apples to Getzlaf turning down “$7 mil from Edmonton” for $3.85 mil

You're just focused on the north of 10 mil vs 9.75mil. So in reality it was north of $80mil total for $68 mil total. Left over $12mil on the table. Anyways I'm done arguing this with you. I've given you clear examples of players signing for relatively less money, even happening with our own team so the player could stay here and yet you continue to whine about it and continue with the Stamkos is coming here and is not going to sign for less then $8mil. Believe what you want to believe. When Tampa announces the extension I'll be the first to say I told you so. Until then, see ya.

Ryan Getzlaf went from 8.25 mil to $3mil (64% decrease) in 2021 to remain with the Ducks and the Oilers were offering him $7mil plus. Should the union have got involved there? Punished the Ducks because they didn't pay Getzlaf $8mil again? Punished Getzlaf because he took less then the free agent market was willing to pay him so he could stay and play where he wanted to be?

Even Johnny Gaudreau signed for less money then what other teams were offering him to go to Columbus.

Oof, I’ve I was an NHL player and Stamkos took $4 mil Per year instead of $10 mil.   I’d complain to the the players union to get that contract voided.   (Don’t know if that’s even possible).  I understand taking $6 mil instead of $8 mil for a hometown discount, which is 25% less than market value.   But to take 60% less than market value is insane and the players union should fight against that.

Why would they fight against that? A player can sign for whatever they want. Paul Kariya went from a $10mil per year contract with the Ducks and refused to take a pay cut to $8mil so they could sign Selanne and then signed with Colorado for $1mil. The union didn't fight that. There is absolutely nothing wrong with signing for less and I'm sorry, if you were a superstar at 26 years old, signed an 8 year contract worth $8mil a year and had to renew at 35 years old, I would not be expecting to make more money as you are now at the end of your career. Usually by that time a player is getting slower and the stats are starting to fall off. In this case it hasn't happened yet, but a player can sign for whatever they want. If Stamkos loves it in Tampa and decides he will sign for league minimum he can. Mark Giordano went from making $6.75 mil per season to resigning in Toronto for $800,000 so the team could have money to spend elsewhere. Union didn't fight that and that was an 88% decrease.

    Cutter / Leo / Top 6 RHW

    Killorm / Zegras / Terry

    Vats / McT / Strome

    ? / ? / Colangelo

Ross Johnston is hopefully playing 4th line minutes protecting Sidorov in the AHL.

I’d argue add Marsh to that top line and we’d have 3 LEGIT NHL scoring lines.

Edit : plus by adding Marsh we hurt Vegas.  Remember to make the playoffs we only have to be better than 4 teams out of 7.

Edmonton  (much better than us)/ Vegas (cap hell amazing team) / Vancouver (can you say NJ Devils ?) / Kings (window closing, that drew  Doughty is as old as Stamkos !) / Calgary (incoming roster tear down) / Seattle (not as good as they think they are) / SJ (do you know the way to TANK)

I see one scoring line, a couple incomplete lines, and one with a center who is not going to be happy with third line minutes. That's a long ways from 3 scoring lines and a 4th that can score. ? must be a really good player if they can play 2 spots on one line and can score. Marsh is not coming here either. Somebody will easily outbid the Ducks on him and he is also looking to win now. Johnston will not be in the AHL. He is Cronin's best friend and will be giving 82 games in the NHL. He may even be that top 6 winger. There is no guarantee at all that Verbeek will be successful in bringing in a top 6 winger, none. And the only way I see it getting done is in the trade route with Zegras or McTavish going the other way. This team has too many top centers and one of them is not going to be happy playing the third line. If they add Celebrini then that's another one. That is where I've been saying all along that the Ducks have the strength of centers and top 2 centers that they can make a trade using one for that top 6 RW. They could even use one to make a trade for a top 6 winger and top 4 rhd in the same deal. Strome could easily slide over to that 3rd line center or even Nathan Gaucher, and say Sidorov has a good camp and gets that 3rd line left or right wing. Or better yet, get Celebrini, move McTavish up and drop Killorn to that 3rd line on the wing.

    Celebrini/Carlsson/Cutter

    Zegras/McTavish/Terry

    Killorn/Strome/Vatrano

    ? / Lundestrom/Colangelo

That's a better looking forward group (if the Ducks win the lottery) then hoping one of the top UFA's pick the Ducks over any other competitive team. I think what the Ducks do in FA and trades will depend alot on what happens with the lottery.
