  1. Lindholm isn't expected to pot 20G per season as a D. To think there's going to be some dramatic decline in production once he hits 30 seems unlikely. What he excels at ages well. Yes he missed time this past season due to injury, but it was a broken wrist caused by a slash. He's not pulling groins or suffering concussion issues. There have been plenty of effective D in their 30's. No reason to think Lindholm wouldn't be added to that list.

  2. It seems a little too quiet on the Eichel front. I would think if multiple teams were interested we would hear more news. Vegas, Kings, (maybe more) who were rumored to be interested no longer have the cap space. The Ducks can easily absorb the 10M (especially with the Steel/Lundestrom signings) if Adams refuses to take salary back (which makes no sense considering how below the cap they are). I think Murray and Adams are playing a game of chicken and it's a question of who blinks first. Zegras and Drysdale are off the table (if part of the trade it would have happened by now) for now. The problem is Eichel will now probably miss the beginning of the season if he has disc replacement surgery. I really don't see how this benefits Buffalo. Teams aren't going to magically have the $ unless a key player is injured long term. I would think this has to come to resolution very soon.

It could be a disgruntled wife but looking into is finances won't be hard for the NHL. Since she publicly made the accusations, I hope she has something to back them up. Infidelity isn't a crime but when you have a small child and a pregnant wife, it sure doesn't make him look good.

If I remember correctly, I think he recently (last year or so) declared bankruptcy.

Ducks not doing anything is very concerning to me.

Tanking is not really effective when your chances of getting an elite talent are 16.60% and a losing environment is not one that breeds a good core.

    Why?

I was hoping for two things today, and one occurred.  Other than Getz, I was hoping the Ducks (who are REBUILDING) didn't do something stupid and sign a FA just for the sake of signing one. And second, make some trades. Trades didn't happen, but we have the whole summer to move players.

Bob is twisting the reality to suit his desired perception (Are the fans really gullible???).  The reality is the Ducks wont do much in the FA market because the market will reject the Ducks.  With all the choices the FA players have, why would you go to a team that is still 2-3 years from competing?  Nobody with a brain would unless its a straight over payment (which Bob is an expert in).  In addition the reason we have not had success in trading is Bob over valued players paid them to much and now is unable to trade them for reasonable value.  Please tell me we are collectively smarter than Bob!

The WORST thing a team can do imo is build through the FA market. Sign a FA when you're a playoff team challenging for a cup. Not during a rebuild. To want to sign some 28,29,30+ year old to a 6,7 year contract makes absolutely no sense.

Murray comment on McTavish..."he's ready to play with men."  Look for him to start with the Gulls this upcoming season.

I wouldn't mind losing 3rd overall in an Eichel deal if it's healthy Eichel and depending on what the rest of the package looks like. That's what bothers me more. But I think it's safe to say 3rd overall won't be as good as a healthy Jack Eichel.

Having said this I still prefer BM to just let this one pass. We have some decent looking prospects coming up in the not too distant future and we're in a prime spot for a possibly franchise changing lottery pick next year.
Let us suck one more year. Add a couple of bad contracts in exchange for picks and strike next year in the draft and free agency. Contender in 22-23, Stanley Cup in 23-24 😄

Unless there's another year of season ending injuries to a # of key players, by default we should be better next year. We'll have a full year with Zegras and Drysdale.  Unless trades occur, a healthy Lindholm, Manson, Silf. Assume continued growth with Lundestrom, Jones, Comtois, Terry, and hopefully Steel. We have new coaches to improve the PP and PK. The lottery gods never shine down on the Ducks, why should next year be any different? We couldn't jump to #1 this draft, not gonna happen next year. No way I see this team a bottom feeder next season. May not make the playoffs, but don't see them bottom 5.

  7. Rather play Josh Mahura.  Career stats of the 2 players:

    Fleury:  179 NHL games: 7G  20A  -12    Mahura:  41 NHL games: 3G  10A  -3

Mahura is 2 years younger. Even with zero improvement, if you multiply x4 Mahura stats he's the better player imo. Time will tell as they say.

I’m bummed that we’re probably losing Fleury. I thought he looked pretty good and was a good partner for Drysdale. I hate Murray a little more every day. Regardless if he could’ve done anything differently

I still think there's a deal in place and the Kracken select Henrique or maybe Shattenkirk. But then again a leprechaun made me coffee this morning and a unicorn is out on my front lawn.

  9. I assume there's a deal in place for Seattle to draft Henrique. In a flat cap era that we're in right now, the one big currency to have is cap room. Freeing up the Henrique contract gives the Ducks around 28M to play with. I love Henrique but unless we're a serious Cup contender, his value to us is minimal imo. Yes, he's a good mentor for the kids, but so is Getzlaf, Silf., Fowler, etc. No team is gonna trade for him right now unless we retain 40-50% of salary.

  10. Me: Lindholm, Manson, Fowler, Fleury, Rakell, Lundestrom, Terry, Jones, Gibson

    Ducks: Same (lol)

Seattle takes Mahura, Shattenkirk or Henrique. They need to hit the cap floor, and Shattenkirk/Henrique would be good mentors for the younger players.

I don't think Fleury is left exposed. Murray traded for him, and since Ron Francis originally drafted him, I don't think he's going anywhere.

Parise, Suter on the open market (or will be July 28). Can’t imagine they’ll be willing to accept post Ducks Perry money, and can’t imagine BM isn’t interested anyway.

it’s sooooo late, it seems like the Ducks aren’t going to make any acquisitions before the drafts.  I think we’re all just going to wait, except for 1-2 maverick GMs.

I would say no moves before the ED. We don't have any room to protect a player, nor does any other team. There could be moves before the NHL draft.

I really don’t understand what you even want this team to do.
no to 24 year old franchise center for potentially an all time low

23 year old 2 time 30 goal scorer 1 time 40 Goal scorer

23 year old top line winger/center with 2 20 goal seasons already.
25 year old second line center who’s scored 20 goals 5 Times.

I understand not wanting to trade for Kuznetsov he’s older and expensive, but landing Eichel, Laine, Dubois, Reinhart would be massive for the team if they could do it without selling their top 2 prospects. These young stars/very good players don’t come available without caveats. If you can land someone like Eichel or Laine without giving up Z and Drysdale, you should do it, no questions asked. Reinhart might be a little overpriced I’ll admit so I wouldn’t mind passing, but him and Dubois are very good and young. Exactly what this franchise needs.

    Totally agree.

I think there's a mindset by some of, "why not tank again next year," and since it's a strong draft, maybe grab a top pick/franchise player. I know injuries are part of the game, but with a full year of Zegras/Drysdale, and a healthy Lindholm/Manson (assuming still with the team)  it's doubtful we end up bottom 3 again. Even this year, the one big aberration was our home record. I think we were one game under .500 on the road.

  13. Another question is if the trade is days away as rumored, how does that affect the ED as far as protected players? The assumption has been we go 8/1 to protect 4D. Eichel has to be protected (Comtois does not). I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Rakell, Lunderstrom, Terry included in the trade too.

Or it could go badly and we have another Kesler/Eaves type situation where we are paying a player not to play. This team can not afford to do that unlike some teams. People are saying if we make this happen it could shed 2-3 years off the rebuild. BUT if he continues to have issues or becomes a lesser player because of it, we could be adding 2-3 more years to the rebuild due to loss of assists and money being tied up.

Having said that, I am still for it to give this team some spark and excitement to the fans. It’s just risky is what I am saying.

Side note, because I haven’t seen anyone say this. For all we know, we COULD get an Eichel like talent with the #3 pick. Unknown true draft positions  and scouting analysis. We Could end up with an absolute gem. Or a dud for the same reasons. Just saying.

Insurance would pay him, and the salary would go on LTIR and be available once the season starts. Ideal? No. But not crippling from a financial standpoint.

My more immediate concern with the neck issue is how it will effect his play going forward.

that is MUSIC TO MY EARS!!! that's HUGE! Wow!....I don't inherently like that they are still involved....but as long as they aren't on the coaching staff this is GREAT!

wow....I can finally stop posting my "we need to fire these assistants" ....*sniff* i...i never thought this day would come...I...i don't know what to say. ...excuse me for a min... *sniff sniff sniff*

I have no problem if both are still employed as assistants through the ED and draft. Maybe they'll be kicked upstairs before then. I don't know. As long as employed by the Ducks, they're contractually obligated to the franchise. I'm sure they may know some of the Ducks strategies going forward.
