  1. Just read Jack Eichel has a NMC that kicks in July 1. The Ducks have a desperate need for a #1C, and cap space is opening up. Thoughts on Eichel and a potential trade package to get him. I'm assuming the only untouchables are Zegras and Drysdale and maybe Gibson.  The trade would negate the NMC, so that's not an issue.

can't understand why all this NTC/NMC AND long contracts... look at the long contracts, a lot of them are overpaid: Getzlaf, Fowler, Silfverberg, Henrique...

of course then when they made the contract they are all on career highs, and some players would not sign without this clauses, but we have 6 NTC and NMC and at least 3 years contracts.

yes I know, that this isn't a video game and there are people, but I think it would be a good start for the rebuild. give Zegras the C, he already showed that he deserved it as a person. fantastic was his interview before the U20 finals about the goaltender of Canada was not really tested and then he made a goal... only one word I can say there: WOW!

and where is the rebuild? can't understand that too. trade away 2 young players (Kase and Montour) for 2 firsts and thats it? ok trade away this two players is okay, one is injury proned and the other looks like he has a difficult character. but we not even gave Dostal or Eriksson Ek a shot in the NHL till now and only Zegras some games and Drysdale from the kids had this year NHL games, no Tracey, no Perrault, no Groulx ect.

good, I still hope there will be some action in the offseason and BM made this deadline trades not because this draft class is weak and difficult to scout and go after draft picks 2022, what should be a great draft class what I heard. but he did good all 3 trades this season... Volkov is an upgrade, Fleury is 4 years younger and was a former first rounder, Hutton for a 5th... all good trades.

Make it stop. If this was an audio I'd be scrambling to find the mute button.

All of this chatter about Getzlaf possibly retiring, makes me think it's looking more likely than not.  In his recent interview, he did not come out and give a truly affirmative answer as to whether he intends to return next season.  I understand that's partially a negotiating ploy, but he still could have indicated that he truly wanted to play with the Ducks next season, and would be going into the off season with an eye on getting a new contract.  Instead, he's talking about re-evaluating after the season, and going from there.

I find it highly unlikely that he's going to bolt, a la PK, and leave the Ducks with nothing to show for it.  That would be a huge diss of the Ducks, knowing that they were going to lose him, that he's not going to retire as a career long Ducks member, combined with the fact they could have at least received something in return had they traded him at the deadline.

I also don't think the Ducks have told him that it's time for the club to move on, and that they don't want him to return.  I tend to believe it's up to Getzlaf at this point.  The Ducks may very well be asking him to take a cut in pay, which he would likely have even if he signed elsewhere, so the puck is probably on Getz' stick, and the decision is up to him.  I hope he doesn't take the same route that Scottie did, and retire when he still has at least a year or 2 of quality play in him, but given the state of the Ducks, I can see how he might.

Come on. Getzlaf will do the Teemu thing. He'll evaluate everything during the off season and make a decision about returning or not.

Hey, I was thinking about it...and...what have we done with the cap space we got from buying out Perry? What have we done without him on the team? When it happened, I was not into it at all...and certainly now feel that when he left -- the passion in the team left, too. But that's definitely on the emotional side of it. We had $2m extra in space right? And he would have been an UFA this season, right? But now we are paying a couple more seasons @ $2m... so...looking at hindsight it seemed to also not be worth it for us? But unless I'm missing something or don't realize something like "well, without it we wouldn't have seen Drysdale or Zegras this season" or something... looking back, was this the right move?

I guess the question I would ask is with Perry in the lineup, who would you have sit? And at 8+M per season, and already at the cap, how else would we have been affected with him still on the roster?

Oh really? I missed this. They did say Lundestrom may not return this year. How bad was his appendectomy? Usually recovery time is only a few weeks.

I didn't hear that about Lundestrom. Definitely heard that about Lindholm.

  6. 19 hours ago, dtsdlaw said:

Lindholm was injured on February 27th and we were told he would make a full recovery and be back in about 6 weeks. February 27th was 6 weeks and 2 days ago, so you'd assume Lindholm is close to returning if no significant setbacks during his recovery. When Lindholm is back, we'll have Lindholm, Manson, Fowler, Shattenkirk, Drysdale, Fleury, and Larsson. I'm sure Larsson will get some games, but the hope would be that there aren't more significant injuries that put Larsson back in full time.

I'm curious who they'll put with Fowler now. Do they go back to 4-42 (I hope not) or do they get creative with 4-22 or maybe even 4-34??

They said last night he's done for the year.

How the heck do they fit his cap hit though?? Vegas just acquired Janmark from Chicago and they're using a cap broker (sounds like San Jose) to take some of Janmark's $2.25M cap number. I can't envision how they would be able to fit Getzlaf's cap hit, even if we retained half of the $8.25M and another team ate part of the remainder.

Depending on any other moves the Ducks may make, couldn't the Ducks trade Getz to Vegas for a second and retain his entire salary? I'm just spitballing here, maybe there's a rule that a team can retain 50% max.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's less of a desire to chase the cup and more of a way to just help Bob get something. Like Getz being "uhhh I mean, sure, I guess I'd waive it for Vegas?" Close by, short term. Maybe the Ducks get a 1st or 2nd rounder out of it.

Vegas does have two 2nd round picks for the 21/22 draft.

Not sure where you got your information, but you don't have to be vaccinated or show a negative test to get into the arena. You have to have a ticket and agree to follow the rules. That is all.

If you read my post, I said I "assume".....

My post was written BEFORE the Honda Center announced their policy for in arena fans.  I'm quite aware that's not the policy going forward.

Well, if you have a deal all ready to go on the trade deadline day, the last thing a team wants is an injury the night before, that is going to result in that player being out several weeks.  I'm surprised you've never heard of that, because it always seems to happen right around the deadline, and often results in speculation that a trade is in the works when it does.

You asserted teams hold players out of games and claim an injury. That's where people are questioning you. Palmieri was held out of games, and the reason given was speculation of a pending trade. Same with Hall. I may be wrong, but I don't recall players being held out for an injury and then simultaneously traded.

    NO-TRADE CLAUSES

    • David Backes (15-team trade list)

    • Cam Fowler (4-team trade list)

    • Adam Henrique (10-team no-trade list)

    • Josh Manson (12-team no-trade list)

    • Kevin Shattenkirk (12-team no-trade list)

    • Jakob Silfverberg (12-team no-trade list)

    NO-MOVEMENT CLAUSES

    • Ryan Getzlaf

    • Ryan Kesler

For the purpose of a trade deadline and a dying team a NMC and a NTC have the same effect.  Harder to trade obviously

If you're going to quote me, do it correctly. I never said "wrong again."  There is a huge difference between a NMC and a modified (see your list) NTC. And YOU said NMC in your original post, there was no mention of NTC. My point was there is only 1 player that has one (that has any impact on our cap). I know Kesler also has one, but it doesn't really affect us salary wise since the $ amount becomes available via LTIR.

Wait wait wait......  Bungling Bob do something stupid???  Look up "stupid" in the dictionary and you will find his picture.....Hey Vodka Bob, offer to much $ and some more NMC to insignificant players.....That is why the Ducks are rubbing the top of the cap with one of the teams with the most losses.

ONE player has a NMC and that is Getzlaf.

you're right, i misremembered.  I also didn't see any threes when I was poking around.

I bought 3 for the last game against the Kings. There were also 3 available for the 18th but we decided to pass. Pods of 3 were available, you just have to really search for them. Ours are in section 218 I believe for the Kings game. The game on the 18th the 3 person pod was in 215.

yeah I can do that, too...I get them for work any way.

Is that going to be a requirement? I would imagine social distance, washing hands, mask wearing is just what it's gonna be.

It's an assumption. Other venues have listed their protocols, and all indicate a negative test is sufficient too.  I'm assuming Honda Center will allow the same.
