  1. I would love to say something nice, but I will pass a torch to you. Anything made you exited the last 5 seasons?
  2. Because our GM is a vegetable. Minor-league GM with minor league mentality, I completely realized it after last TDL. Don't expect him to do anything significant, except collecting draft picks and taking on bad contracts. See my comments under "Verbeek" title.
  3. Hollywood team GM did a great job by unloading Cal Petersen and often injured Sean Walker to Philadelphia. They cleared about $5.6 mil to resign their impending UFA. The window of opportunities for our domestic legend is shrinking.
  4. Possible, young man, possible. When you lived in Belarus, we had Bryan Murray and Bryan Burke as GM's of our Ducks organization, both of them stayed short terms. Both of them never been afraid to give up draft picks or prospects/suspects thru trades or go on UFA for best available players. This is how we got Selanne, Niedermayer, Pronger, O'Donnell, Marchant, May and others, and it was a really exciting time to be Ducks fan. The Ducks 2006 thru 2009 version was one of the best in the league, every game we had sold out arena. I wonder why good managers usually stay short-term in Ducks organization, before they end up in Toronto or somewhere else?
  5. I feel the same. Oh, Verbeek, Verbeek.....I though you'll go after some marquee name, someone like Patrick Roy, who would draw respect from his players, and you chose some career minor-league coach nobody heard of. "Heling young kids to develop into successful NHL players...." Dude, it's not a development league, don't you understand it, dummy? Oh, Verbeek, Verbeek.....when are you going to do something to make me really exited?
  6. To trade Gibson, we would have to take on some bad contract or retain half of his salary for the next 4 years, which is not a good idea for a small market team. Gibson for Merzlikins + some meah prospect sounds like a doable deal, but Gibson will reject this trade. Kings won't take on Gibson's contract, they are not stupid. Penguins will look for some cheaper and better FA options available every summer. No other team comes to my mind, really. Fisix, be happy, We stuck with your hero for at least two more years.
  7. It's time to stop this polemic. For any adequate Ducks fan it's clear: unmotivated and underperforming goaltender should be moved.
  8. Corey Abbot, a respectable hockey analyst, thinks it's time for Ducks to trade Gibson and to upgrade their goaltending duo. I personally agree with him. Ducks Need to Address Goaltending Situation This Offseason (thehockeywriters.com)
  9. Milan Lucic, who helped Canada win 2023 World Championship, will be UFA. He won't score much, but he will bring grit, energy and toughness, something Ducks lacked last season. A year or two years contract around $1.0-$1.2 per season wouldn't hurt this team, IMO.
  10. I still can't recover from the fact that we won't get Berard. I had so much hope for it, we really need a franchise player to sell merchandise, to fill up arena, to enjoy Ducks game. Instead, we'll end up with Bobby Ryan type of player - a good NHL player but not a difference maker. I find it interesting that in the last 2 decades a small market team never got 1st overall pick. Buffalo is the only exception that comes to my mind - 2021 NHL Entry Draft, one of the weakest drafts in the history.
  11. I can't believe some lunatics on this forum talking about possible 8-years contract for Drysdale. This guy didn't prove anything that he worth it, despite being 6th overall pick. 1 or max 2 years bridge deal - prove you value to this team or get traded.
  12. The roster proposed above looks weak. I am down to earth, and my expectations for 2023-2024 season are very low, especially with very conservative and indecisive GM Pat Verbeek. So, back to the top-five draft pick next summer?
  13. Hm...really? Maybe we were watching different hockey games.
  14. I head the story from one die-heard Ducks fan, who claims he has inner sources from Ducks organization, that Drystale's off-the-ice workout ethics is not what trainers expect from him. Again, it's a word of mouse, a rumor, if you wish, but there is no smoke without a fire. right? As far as his rookie season, he was good, I remember it. Good but not great. I see him as Fowler#2 as his highest ceiling. Fowler, by the way, has 3 more years remaining on his contract, Plus we have a few more good defensive prospects coming up next season. That make Drysdale expendable. Once again, Drysdale + some prospect + 2nd round pic for Nylander, wouldn't you do it? I would without thinking twice.
  15. A perfect trade bait for some good forward.
  16. Spencer Carbery, Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach, was interviewed for Ducks HC position. Anybody knows something about him?
  17. Just wondering what's the story with Ducks coach assistants. I ever head any official announcement, are they going to be retained or fired? Are Mike Stothers and Newell Brown will be back?
  18. Most likely he'll end up playing for Hollywood team. After Brian Burke left, all our GM's traditionally say bla, bla, bla in the media, and on the first day of FA "Sorry, too expensive. I would rather sign Joe Schmo with discount". Again, it's not really their fault. Ownership. Everything starts with ownership. When Samuelis tell GM's don't do this and don't do that, their hands are pretty much tight up.
  19. So what? Instead of these two, I would rather go after Fiala, who was available. But no, too expensive.
  20. Not this organization, you should know better by now. They make go after some second-string Ryan Strome-like UFA, but never for the best available free agent. Too expensive. I won't be surprised if Matthews ends up with Hollywood team, especially with Kopitar. Arvidsson and Matt Roy coming off their payroll after next season.
  21. Just read some article from Toronto media that Kyle Dubas contract will expire this year and he will be UFA. Young, 37 y/o manager who turned Toronto Maple Leafs into really good team with one of the best offence in the league. Toronto fans concerned that he'll leave this summer. A quote form Leafs fan "The saddest part of this is that Kyle Dubas is going to lose his job and some old school GM is going to come in and trade Nylander for scraps"
  22. I like Freddy, I always cheered for him. In fact, in 2016 when Ducks management had to make decision between him and our current legend, I knew Freddy's days with the Ducks are numbered. Oh, well..., at least I am happy for him now.
  23. Oh, yes. FOWLer and Co. will be flying and hitting everybody around. I can see it happening next season.
  24. Give them Max Jones, Comtois or Lunderstrom, let them choose between these three. Ideally, I would mind trading at least one of them for "future considerations.", lol
  25. We are so shallow at forward's position. Goaltending is also shaky. Defense is a joke around NHL. Lots of work to do for PV, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.
