  1. hey, Korpisalo was .925% in game one. He wasn't terrific, but he was solid. If our legend played for Hollywood team, everything would be over after 2nd period.
  2. Interesting, Kopitar is only 2 years younger than Perry. Is Kopitar retiring any time soon?
  3. Nobody needs Gibson and his huge contract. Only some dummy fans still think he has some value based on his 5 years old performance.
  4. See, Edmonton, what happens when you stop playing with 10 min. left and trying just to hold on the score?! Come on, don't do the same mistake again, beat this Hollywood team in game 2!
  5. Steel was terrible when he was playing in Anaheim. Minnesota playing him as 1C tells us how shallow this organization on centers.
  6. Pierre Page was a head coach in 1997-1998 season with Pierre Gauthier as GM. IMHO, Gauthier was the worst GM in the Ducks history, Page was the second worst coach in history, after Dallas Eakins. Gauthier traded Selanne to division rival San Jose Sharks for Jeff Friesen and some backup goalie, can't remember his name. It was no reason to do this trade, Selanne never requested it. Page had a weird habit to open his mouse every time Ducks allowed a goal. The team was very soft with the lack of offensive talent except Kariya. Still remember how Gary Sutter cross-checked Paul Kariya in the jaw, knocking him out for the rest of the season, while Kariya's teammates were standing and watching it. Even though, I still think 1998 Ducks team was better than 2023 version.
  7. Interesting point you mentioned. I don't know if they'll let Stothers go because of compassion for his health condition. Let's wait for tonight's Friday press-conference Verbeek scheduled with media.
  8. Eakins is a good minor-league coach. He'll find a new job in AHL quickly. Nice guy, but it's a tough business, bro.
  9. The Ducks will have first overall pick for the first time in franchise history. They will select Connor Berard.
  10. Let's not get too excited about some college player with an average statistic. If PV really thinks this is how he's going to fix his roster, this franchise is in deep trouble.
  11. Ducks give up lead, lose to Avalanche in overtime – Orange County Register (ocregister.com) He also praises coach Eakins "He really sees things beyond what they are and can really get a message out of a lot of things that I don’t think a lot of people could." Hm...seems like all Ducks players like him. Mystery to me...
  12. Interesting, Henrique in interview to OC Register said "we need a lot of change, players included. We are just not good enough..." "Why would you want to go through this year after year after year?" Also, he mentioned that he has 1 year remaining on his contract. I am reading between the lines: please, trade me in the offseason. Sad, he is one of the few decent, NHL-level players on this team.
  13. Adam needs to go back to IR with "back spasms". Terry stays home, Gibson starts in net and allows 1-2 softies, as he usually does, Lunderstorm, Jones, Comtois, McGinn, Carrick try their best to stay invisible, as they usually do, and Ducks REALLY need to lose to Arizona in regulation. I don't need a MEANINGLESS win that everybody will forget a week from now. If Ducks win a best chance to draft Berard, it will set this franchise for the next 15 years.
  14. The last time Ducks traded high 1st round pick brought us Teemy Selanne.
  15. of cause, Connor Berard, forgive an old man.
  16. I expect Ducks to lose all remaining games, except, maybe, Phoenix. If Ducks select Bryan Berard, it will be a historical moment for this franchise.
  17. I hear the stories on this forum "Verbeek told Gibson he won't be traded". Please somebody send a reference link to confirm this statement. Also, I have a question: with emergence of Dostal, why not trade Gibson? There is no shortage of really good goalies every summer for half of Gibson's price, someone could be a backup goalie or even fight for a starting position. I hate to cross-reference to Hollywood team, but their goaltending duo is doing very good.
  18. Why Gibson doesn't ask for a trade? What's wrong with him? I though he has some sort of self-respect for himself.
  19. Too stressful to coach, especially is GM does not provide you with NHL level talent. He understands it.
  20. Is that the one who was charged with DUI recently?
  21. Watching how Colorado spends 2-3 consecutive minutes in Anaheim's defensive zone, easily cruising around Ducks players, I had an impression that a professional NHL team plays against a mediocre college team. I saw quite a few professional bad teams in my life, but I never saw one team dominating so easy over another team like Colorado dominated Anaheim. I could even see some Colorado players laughing after getting back to the bench. What can be more embarrassing when opponent laughs at you? If it was up to me, I would keep only Zegras, McTavish, Terry and get rid of all of the remaining players. Start with the clean sheet.
  22. agree, goaltending is also an issue, and blaming it all on defense is wrong. Last game, for example, Gibson was 30-36, with .833 SV%, and while defense was not good as usually, goaltending was below average as well. It doesn't really matter now, but if the Ducks want to go deep in the playoffs, I don't see them passing first round with consistently inconsistent goaltending like this.
  23. Comtois is my least concern. My concern is the Ducks defense and goaltending, especially defense.
  24. Eakins and charisma? I don't know about it, When I watch him on TV, he looks like is ready to fall asleep right in the middle of the game.
  25. The Ducks are so bad, it hurts to watch. Played against Calgary yesterday, who were playing back-to-back games. After getting butchered by Kings a night before, Calgary easily outplayed and outshot Ducks with 2:1 ratio. The defense is so soft, reminds me of FOWL... falling asleep. Terrible. The rebuild should start from getting rid of our so called "veterans" who over decade of mediocracy got used to a losing culture.
