  1. Hollywood team extender Kopitar for 2 more years. Not the good news for Ducks.
  2. no, thank you, we need GOOD players, not another warm body.
  3. No more 8 years deals for non-star players. Enough of FOWLer and our untradeable legend.
  4. False report is false report, what can I say. Seravally should be responsible for what he's saying, especially when he has thousands of followers on Twitter and considers himself a respectable "hockey analyst". As far as Gibson and his agent, they know the true situation on the market, and Gibson has no choice but stick with the Ducks, if he wants to have a job in the NHL. His contract is guaranteed, his job is not.
  5. If Gibson indeed said something like this, it's called in professional sport "comment detrimental to a team" and he needs to be traded immediately, even if Ducks will have to take some bad contract back.
  6. I have been around the block for a while to know that players who demand a trade usually get traded asap, to avoid destructions in the locker room, in any team sports. Don't worry, our legend will stay with the Ducks, no-one is interested in his services for the reasons I mentioned before.
  7. Didn't know you following Chechia hockey, lol, Do you speak the language? Yes, Ducks goaltending position needs to be improved, no doubt about it. My question is: if he is so terrific, why he never was drafted?
  8. He demanded a trade. It's not a secret, everybody knows it. It was covered by OC Register and other multiple sources. What's the point to keep unhappy player on the roster? If PV could find a taker on him for nothing (simply a salary dump), he would have done it by now.
  9. As I expected, nobody wants Gibson. We stacked with him. My next prediction: Ducks will buy out the last 2 years of his contract.
  10. I don't mind Ducks overpaying him, the term of his contract is my concern. Ducks ownership should learn from the past Kesler experience.
  11. Gudas signing is good. Killgorn's contract is at least 1 year too long, $1.5 mil per season too much. Agree with Athletic analysts, who think it was an overpay for his contract. https://theathletic.com/4659074/2023/07/01/nhl-contract-grades-alex-killorn-ducks/
  12. Here is my 2c. Most of us agree that PV is not good, I realized it after last TDL, and when I said on this forum that he's incompetent, I got quite a few angry comments that he's been on the job only a year, give him a chance, bla, bla, bla... Hiring a minor-league coach and making multiple poor decision finally convinced most of the Ducks fans that I was right, However, to call him a worst GM in history is a bit of exaggeration. Most people here are younger than me and simply may not remember who Pierre Gauthier was. This guy was a REAL disaster. I still can't forget how in the middle of the season he traded 50 goals scorer Teemy Selanne to division rival San Jose Sharks for Jeff Friesen and some warm body back-up goaltender. Next day after this trade Gauthier in interview to OC Register had guts to sat that "we got a versatile power forward Jeff Friesen". Then in 2000 he drafted some unknown Russian guy Smirnov (most of scouts never even heard about him) and pronounced that "we going to build a team around this talented young man". The talented young man lasted half of season and disappeared in the twilight. So, unless PV trades Zegras or Terry for some warm body veteran or meah prospect, I would not call him the worst GM yet.
  13. I am dreaming, dude, nothing wrong with it. Are you happy with current Ducks situation? I mean roster, GM, coaching staff, invisible ownership? ( I don't mean ceremonial puck drops that Samuali's actually never missed). What is it Verbeek has in his mind, 10 years rebuild plan? Hey, I am not in my 20th anymore, I don't want to wait another 10 years.
  14. I am missing for some young, energetic GM and coach. Tired of old-style aging managers, minor-league coaches with ultra-conservative approach. As a result, we are where we are. I change of ownership wouldn't hurt either.
  15. Gibson's 4 years remaining at $6.4 per season + his poor performance = nobody is interested in him. Some good goaltenders available every summer.
  16. Agree with most of comments, It's prostrating when worst team in the NHL picks up third best player. Off the topic: anybody knows for how many years Verbeek signed with the Ducks? When his contract expires?
  17. I 90% gave up on our GM after last TDL. The remaining 10% will be evaporated if nothing significant is done by July 6th.
  18. I am sure PV tried to trade Comtois rights to someone else, but. as of today....his value is equal to Gibson value, so had no choice but waive him.
  19. Pierre-Luc Dubois to Hollywood team talks is heating up. Great, young player, 60+ points producer, formar 3rd overall pick. Hey, Verbeek, are you alive? Loads of draft picks, quite a few promising young defensemen who could be used as trade baits, $20+ mil under salary cap, WTF are you sleeping? Your 10 years rebuilding plan really prostrates me.
  20. Lately I saw quite a few articles where several hockey "analysts" lobbing for Ducks to select Michkov. I wonder why? IMHO, Verbeek needs to consider very seriously current political realities in the world, they are getting worse and worse. My biggest fear is the Ducks select Michkov and they guy will never come here at all or RHF may never let him leave the country. What a waste of 2nd overall pick would it be! I would rather be safe than sorry.
  21. 5 years from now Terry and Zegras will be UFA and may leave for another team. Then what? Start another cycle of rebuild from ground zero? Let's hope 3 years from now Ducks will make playoffs, otherwise, Verbeek have to resign. As far as Ducks heard coach......I read 2 weeks old articles from several hockey writers who named dozens of potential candidates for Ducks head coach position, and Cronin's name wasn't even mentioned. The guy is literally out of nowhere. 36 years of minor league coaching with unimpressive record and zero titles. You saying I am pessimistic. Why shouldn't I? You probably heard this Belorussian expression: "он слишком мелко плавает". - "he is swimming in the shallow waters" This is about our GM approach.
  22. Cronin is 60 y/o career minor-league coach who newer won anything in his 30+ years of coaching. Of cause, he is saying all the right words about integrity, dedication, hard play, building winning mentality, bla, bla, bla... Every newly hired coach says the right things. My understanding is by hiring Cronin, GM Verbeek pretty much tells fans and ownership that this team is not ready to make playoffs in the next 2-3 seasons and needs somebody for "learning process". In this case, Cronin would be a good fit. I personally consider him as an interim coach for the next 2-3 seasons, before Ducks will be good again.
  23. Somebody, please convince me how Terry is better than Adrian Kempe from Hollywood team. Here is a comparison: Age Goals+ Assists last 4 seasons annual salary Kempe 26 101+81 = 182 total $5.5 mil Terry 25 71+ 94 = 165 total ?????
  24. OK, Sexlaf 15, looks good on paper, even though I would exclude "Return of Drysdale, New GM, New Coach", Lacombe and Helleson from your list. My question is: are we going to win at least one playoff round in the next 3 years with all the positive changes you listed above? 5 years, maybe? Or we going to be Buffalo Sabres of NHL, as long as Samuelis are in charge? P.S. I remember someone mentioned on this forum in 2016 or 2017 "Oh, we got Nick Ritchie and Sam Steel coming to our team, the future is bright!'.
