  1. Ducks playing hard, fast and all over Vegas.
  2. I get it I’m mad about how ugly those VGK jerseys are
  3. Nail yakupov was on John Scott’s podcast and painted an interesting picture of Eakins. He cited being healthy scratched by Eakins as one of the big moments of his career, that Eakins made no real attempt af having a relationship with Yakupov and wouldn’t teach him, just yelled at him.
  4. I’m not dismissing everything a player says. What I’m saying is that what a player says isn’t this definitive gospel that we should be devoutly following. What is he supposed to say, are teammates supposed to say “yeah actually, he was pretty trash and all he did was play 5 minutes a night and fight someone”, of course they’re gonna say the more possible thing. again I don’t know why we have to seperate tough from good. We can find good players that are mean. Every single talented player on Tampa is mean and nasty, and THEYRE GOOD AT HOCKEY. Same with your other examPlea, they don’t just employ bad hockey players. Kassian and Desulaurier were never going to prevent the Beagle incident because they wouldn’t have been on the ice. Deslaurier didn’t prevent Z from getting boarded and slew foot when he was on the team. I’m sure these guys provide some sort of energy and comfort that’s not quantifiable on a scoresheet, but I want someone who can also show up there. We have enough 10-20pt nobodies on this team. The team can’t score and can’t defend, Kassian helps with neither. Again Killorn and Gudas are great additions that make the team better and are pricks, I’m fine with that, and I agree that successful teams can muck it up in the playoffs, but they also are good and have good players doing that.
  5. Plus the last notable thing Kassian ever did was get the breaks beaten off of him by Arber Xhekaj so I don’t think he’s some big bad policeman out there
  6. Again you’re stating that players know everything. They don’t, this is what they’ve been conditioned to feel their entire lives. I’m sure having Des around would’ve been nice in the locker room last season to keep some levity around, but Kassian is a direct contradiction to what this team should be doing, which is seeing the if any of these bubble guys are going to be options for this team moving forward. Kassian just clogs an already full pipeline of boarderline/bad forwards with another bad forward. League is getting to a point where you can’t have a fourth line you play 6 minutes a night so that you can hide Kassian until he can punch someone. Vegas won in big part to their depth players stepping up and contributing meaningful minutes. Kassian is largely a non factor in terms of this team long term, but it makes them less interesting to watch this season if he signs. Being good and being tough don’t have to be exclusive, you can find good players who are big and tough, but I don’t want to imply players who are only tough.
  7. To be fair Beaulieu was “just a PTO” and I still have trauma from having to watch him play.
  8. Players want stuff that’s dumb all the time. I’m sure hard nosed guys are valuable in some way, but there’s virtually zero evidence that guys like this prevent anything. You’re going to tell me you’re icing Kassian with Z or Terry so he can do nothing, but punch a guy after one of them gets boarded or something? There’s hard to play against guys who play good hockey, we signed two of them this offseason in Gudas and Killorn. I don’t get why we keep falling for these black holes that do nothing, but make a few jokes on the locker room. It’s professional sports, you need to be able to find a guy who plays good.
  9. I’m just not in love with making a love almost specifically because of a single incident 2 years ago. Who comes out for a guy who scored 2 goals and had 2 points in 50 games last year? This team should be giving opportunities for younger bubble guys not signing old, useless players.
  10. Deslaurier was at least good for a random hattrick, Kassian is less good at hockey and less good as a fighter. Just feels like a bad move. I hope he doesn’t make the team.
  11. We have enough awful, shouldn’t be in the league forwards plaguing this line up. Kassian is genuinely awful at hockey and I feel we’ve made our team less interesting and we possibly worse with the last two moves.
  12. Simon Benoit signs in Toronto. I don’t know how you watch the Ducks last year and go. I’ll take two of their worst defensemen, please. Maybe Benoit can be better, but he was so bad and showed me nothing that gave me any feeling he could be a quality defender.
  13. I haven’t seen many people saying anything positive about Lyubushkin. I’ve seen 1 highlight goal, him throw 1-2 hits and get beat up a few times. I would like to think Lyubushkin and Hagg > Benoit Beaulieu and Harrington. And then if we get an injury we see Helleson/Zellweger/Mintyukov instead of those guys. Defense is probably better set up, but I’m not excited about Fowler - Drysdale Lacombe - Gudas Hagg - Lyubushkin Top 4 has some potential, but that bottom pairing is nauseating. Who knows haven’t played a game yet, could work. I’m just not inspired
  14. We’ve said the same thing about about an innumerable amounts of pylons this team has employed over the last decade. IL and Robert Hagg suck. They’re not good. They’re inconsequential moves, and serve only to fill out the team and let the kids cook longer. I was just hoping the team would be enjoyable to watch this season, but I guess we’re taking a rain check on that. I get that everybody on this board loves a guy with high hit numbers, all that means to me is he’s playing a lot in his own zone without the puck. Both Lyubushkin and Hagg were solid 7th defensemen, but now they’re going to be playing meaningful minutes this season, so I’m a bit disappointed.
  15. Another bad defensemen. At least it’s only 1 year I guess. One more year of this team bring unwatchable is slowly creeping on the menu.
  16. I mean sure, but there’s not many teams who survive both of their top 4 RHD being injured without getting creative. It’s not a perfect lineup, it’s just a unique season and I would prefer we get decent looks at guys who could factor into this team long term.
  17. Killorn - Zegras - Strome Henrique - McTavish - Terry Jones - Carlsson - Vatrano McGinn - Carrick - Silf id like to see Nesterenko/Regenda get shots. Fowler - Drysdale Lacombe - Gudas Mintyukov/Zellweger - Helleson Hagg i think we see something like this to start. If neither Minty or Zellweger look ready, Hagg can slot in. We’ve seen nothing from Vaaks, i think I’ve seen enough of him okay to feel that we’re not gonna get much out of him. D core is very young, but you gotta seen what you’ve got in Lacombe and Helleson. I’m not a fan of clogging the blue line with more big useless defensemen. Hagg is fine as a 6/7 who can come in for injuries or physical games. He’s been better than Benoit, so it’s a slight improvement, maybe. I don’t think this team wins a cup, but it should be a much better team if Cronin can be competent. All I want is the team to be competitive late in the year, which I think is the expectation from Verbeek. This is the last year I think you can tinker and take looks, they really should be pushing to be a good team after this next year.
  18. Ducks just signed Alex Stalock there’s that veteran backup we were talking about
  19. Although it could be a “we just paid Terry 7, that’s what we’re going to work with to start.”
  20. Friedman had reported that they had JUST started negotiating the contract pretty recently. I’m starting to think Verbeek can’t multitask
  21. Really love the energy Z brings. Pretty good guy to train with in Kreider, love his enthusiasm to work with Cronin. Sign the man long term and let’s go.
  22. I gotta say, I think Silf should not be an everyday player at this point. Worried about his health and what he brings to the team at this point on the ice.
  23. Rolling Rico/Future top LW - Carlsson - Terry Killorn - Zegras - Strome and then make a third line around McTavish you can roll 3-4 dangerous lines its what made Tampa so good, every single line they had was better than yours and could make you pay.
  24. I actually like the idea of having a 1-2-3 of Carlsson-Zegras-McTavish, it allows you to roll more lines, make more difficult matchups. We’ve seen Z and McT on the wing and it wasn’t all that great, granted it was under Eakins, so maybe it goes better under Cronin. We’ve seen Strome play effectively on the Wing, so I’d rather that.
